Jack, Cunningham and Morrow were all available at the start of Free Agency.  They signed Morrow.  I don't think you can look at these signings and think the Eagles are planning for them to be starters.  Both players are coming off of seasons that were impacted by injuries.  Neither player played particularly well last season. I doubt either are getting a whole lot of money.  I don't think either one is here to take the place of either Dean or Morrow.  This wasn't a trade for a starter like they made for CJGJ.   These players are about depth.  To me, it says more about Bradley and Taylor than Ellis, Morrow and Dean.  Although they could be concerned with Dean's injury.

Because I’m a fan that cares about them winning football games and actually winning a Super Bowl this year. Linebacker and safety are concerns. They are weak links at the moment. That’s why I’m concerned. may not matter as much to you.

people seem to be mistaking optimism for expectation...even then, we've seen NOTHING to suggest Dean is an average NFL player. Tim Tebow was a college legend...he's still available, maybe we should tap into that college potential and ship off Hurts

I guess remembering actually seeing Richardson play in a Raiders uniform messed me up.

That's a bit of a weak argument.  Yes, they are closer, but coaches also make mistakes all the time too.  So, while they may have more information, they can draw the wrong conclusions with that information.  The coaches are also sometimes stuck with letting their expectations of a player get in the way of a proper evaluation.  Maybe this was a kid they really wanted in the draft, so they will force him on to the field because they want him to be what they projected him to be... but he just never becomes that guy.  

 

If we can't share our opinions on players on the EMB, because the coaches know more than we do... then exactly what are we here to do?

The Eagles' plan at LB is pretty clear. Whether it's a good plan is up for debate.

Either way, I'm happy we moved on from TJ Edwards and Kyzir White.

I don’t get it.  Why is the on-air announcer getting the wrath?  It’s not like he was editorializing off-script — he’s commentating what the on-screen graphic was pointing out.  Who put the graphic on screen?  He’s also stating fact without even hinting at any blame.

Safe to say he’ll be on air with another organization next year.  Sounds like he has the classic baseball announcer voice.

I’m fine if he’s a backup or third S. However it’s still super concerning if he’s starting week 1. Offseason activities and Tc don’t erase his 3 previous years. That’s why i said it was concerning if he starts week 1 and imo mikell/Epps are less likely to happen and aren’t the norm so why i said I’d be surprised if he made those strides based off his first 3 years.

Yet if eagles had Barnett with first team taking reps I’m guessing if graham/sweat was hurt likely few would’ve brought up graham comp due to how their careers began and most would say they were concerned if he’s starting going into week 1 (hypothetically if sweat/graham were hurt or  or not in the picture)

he could be Epps and mikell. He also could be jarrett, marsh, lindley and Ed Reynolds. That type of game can be played both ways. Don’t have the numbers but it’s likely we come up with more guys who have failed than succeed in what mikell and Epps did. I think mikell and Epps are less the norm which is why people would be concerned. If i said the 4 names i just mentioned back to Matt does that make my point just as valid as his mikell and Epps argument? 

I think we all essentially agree.  I think Matt was pointing out some S timelines that align with where Wallace is. I was ready to give up on Wallace but watching the All 22 last year, I saw that his positioning errors were greatly diminished.  In fact, around the middle of the season, when I was berating Dean for bad lane discipline on STs, I remember one play where Wallace maintained his lane, Dean didn’t and Wallace changed directions as the returner blasted into the space that Dean left open and caught up with the returner.  Helped with the stop.  Not convinced of the instincts yet, but I share @Iggles_Phan outlook.  Tend towards the positive.  

BTW, Marsh actually had a long career.  Jarrett lasted longer than I thought he should.  Never liked the pick.  Reynolds got hurt and was way overrated before that.  I didn’t expect much from Lindley.  Better argument might be Edmunds.  Five years in and a disappointment.

Of course it is.  Hope the OL stays healthy.  Hope that Ringo’s and Dean’s slides aren’t accurate portents for their NFL futures.  Hope the over thirty players don’t fall off a cliff in decline.  Hope Swift and Penny stay healthy.  Hope that Nick can coach against a SuperBowl letdown.

He played some Center in college and if I remember he's taken some snaps at center in practice a couple years ago but seems the coaches like him better at OT/OG where I don't think he's really that good at either.

Plus he's always hurt.

???  Thought he played T at both U Mass and Auburn.  When did he play C?

If they have access to the team that we don't have, then by definition they are special. You may not agree with their takes or think they are unqualified to judge talent, but until games start, they have the advantage of insight.

I see where you’re coming from. i can relate with the Phillies most of my childhood. They made the playoffs once in 22 years growing up. 

I look at it this way, the Eagles likely have a Super Bowl window of 2 to 4 years. I look at safety and linebacker and say they’re not as good as last year right now from just a what have they done in the league standpoint and where guys are in their careers. And there’s a chance they are not better than last year which concerns me. I’m hoping they show out and are good enough. I never root against guys on our team. But definitely is a concern at those positions specifically could be the difference. It’s why if a reasonably priced LB or S became available in trade I’d consider doing it to sure up one of them.
