people seem to be mistaking optimism for expectation...even then, we've seen NOTHING to suggest Dean is an average NFL player. Tim Tebow was a college legend...he's still available, maybe we should tap into that college potential and ship off Hurts

Hurts succeeded at two top 5 college programs.  Learned four separate offenses in doing so.  (3 OC at Alabama, Riley’s offense at OU).  Tebow had a horrible delivery in college.

Ok.  Who?

Good question, I'm not sure exactly. I was listening to a podcast and they spoke about it, that's the vibe around the team.

Just received my AJ Brown FUSE kelly green. I typically wear a large. This thing is super snug and even short. I see rally house has jerseys in stock for shipment so I'll be returning this back to the nfl pro shop and snag one from them. I have to say I like it but don't know if love it. I do love the sewed on eagle logos on the sleeves at least.

Was told the fuse run one size smaller. The elite vapor usually run true to size.

My one friend said the same thing, they run very small. Especially if you are planning on wearing a sweatshirt or something underneath.

Let's wait and see until the likes of Dean play in the pre-season before judging too much,  New scheme + less press/fan access = a big ole mystery.  It's not helped that Dean has got dinged.

The big question is will Dean play in PS?  If he's a starter, does he sit with the 1s, or play with the 2s?  And is that a fair assessment tool?

I wanted to buy a Nike polo with the retro logo from Nike. But I’m concerned about size fitting and fanatics return policy is they charge you to return it. It’s just $10 but it sucks to pay $10 to exchange it for a larger size.

The Eagles' plan at LB is pretty clear. Whether it's a good plan is up for debate.

Either way, I'm happy we moved on from TJ Edwards and Kyzir White.

I’d like to expand on that. There seems to be broad dislike of Morrow here. Not personally, I mean, but as a decent LB. I did not follow the Bears at all last year but I watched our game with them again recently and came away quite impressed with his play. Thought he was their best defensive player. He can run, he’s quick, and he showed good recognition. At least that’s what I saw. Not the biggest guy, to be sure, but still a good LB. They played mostly 4-2-5 and he made a bunch of tackles and played well in space, in my limited view. Now it seems he’s being kicked around. Why is that? What am I missing?

Damn was looking forward to the game tonight

If I recall it was mentioned he played a couple games at center at Auburn, though I could be wrong though I do remember draft pundits before hand saying his best position in the pros may be center as he's kind of a tweener l.

Seems that never really materialized with the eagles.

As said though biggest thing about Driscoll for me is the dude is always banged up.

I like to wear my jerseys with nothing on underneath.

Drives the cougar Panthers fans around here wild to be with a winning team.

I remember when he was drafted, it was noted that his skill set MIGHT allow him to eventually play center. It wasn't that he had actually played there previously.

I was on the Driscoll to center bandwagon, given his arm length, and his athletic numbers matched up favorably with Kelce, IIRC.  Him playing OT never made sense to me at the NFL level.

While I’m going on about LBs, I’m also puzzled by the fairly widespread disdain for Nakobe. How much better could he have been in college? He was an absolute stud there. I see some folks suggesting that signing these two LBs somehow indicates dissatisfaction with him. Or with Morrow, about whom I posted earlier. I take a different view. We let our starting LBs walk and gave him the green dot. Doesn’t that indicate the coaches think he’s better? And ready?

Practice without tackling hides LBs more than any other position on defense. Can they recognize and get there? Our beats have no clue about that stuff. If they don’t see a hit they don’t see anything. It bears repeating: they don’t see anything.

https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/nfl/jack-driscolls-quest-for-versatility-taught-the-eagles-rookie-a-new-position/342272/

So I guess he never played there in college but his coaches wanted him to practice it and he did some center work at combine

I thought I remembered him getting some limited practice snaps at center as a rookie as well and there was talk that might be his best position in the pros but Stout who knows best said nope

Like I said biggest thing with Driscoll for me is he's always hurt, dude has been made of glass so far.

I think the issue with Dean for a lot of folks is his size... then there's the level of talent he played with enabling him to run free.  Of course, we have half of the DL that protected him at UGA.

I was always a fan of Sam Mills and Zach Thomas, so hopefully he can be as successful as them, if not even more so.  He was touted as a potential target in Round 1 last year, and a lot of folks thought the Eagles would break their streak of passing on LBs in Round 1 to grab him.  Getting him in Round 3 is a great thing... assuming he can live up to half the hype that surrounded him going into the draft.

I'm not sold on Dean just from his college production, lots of really good college players never amount to anything in the pros,I mean the number of Heisman winners who bust out is alarming.

I'm gonna wait and see on Dean, I haven't seen Anything from him that days stud to me, but as said eagles let Edwards and Kyzir walk so they must have some hope in Dean.

Whether it's warranted or not will be seen.

MLB to me isn't really a position that takes a while to see if a guy has it or not, I think coaches realize pretty quickly whether a guy has it or not and if Dean clearly shows he doesn't have it once the live bullets start flying I guess Cunningham And Jack will be there to possibly fill in.

I think Dean has the mental makeup and work ethic and character to succeed but I'm not sure he has the necessary athletic traits to succeed at the NFL level.

The team is telling you they are worried about linebacker. The guys they signed are here to compete for starting jobs, not as camp bodies. So I think they are down on Morrow, Dean or both.

Would be great if he had half the success as those guys mentioned and today's NFL is different than when Zach played and especially Mills and Dean's lack of length and athleticism in coverage is what worries me the most in a heavy passing league

TJ wasn't the most athletic guy but he had NFL size and could at least be in the way of passing lanes, Deans lack of length really limits him there.

Dean will be a starting LB this season and hopefully start 17 games.  His college tape to me was that of a 2nd round LB; that’s not a bad thing at all, but he didn’t look to me to be as much of an impact LB as some on here see.

I believe Morrow will be an equivalent replacement to Kyzir White.  He likely has the inside track to be the Eagles other starting LB going into Week 1.

IMO Cunningham and Jack were brought in as a result of some concerns over what the caliber of LB play would be if/when Dean and Morrow miss any time with injury.  The Eagles want to see if either new signing looks to be a significant upgrade over the depth they have in preseason.  My hunch is one will stick; as I said yesterday I hope Cunningham can resemble the form he showed his first two years in Houston, where he was a tackling machine

Ok.  Who?

Glancing at the 2024 free agent's safeties, a few names jumped out that might be able to be had in a trade

Kyle Dugger, Antoine Winfield, Jeremy Chinn, Julian Blackmon, Kamren Curl

Dean's lack of athleticism?  First I've heard of that.

Yup

I don't have much hope for Jack, I know he's a big name but I think he's done, he's damaged goods with bad wheels, I don't think he makes the final 53.

Cunningham is interesting because he's useless in coverage but at 6'3" with really long arms he can be like one of those brooms in practice they stick up in passing lanes.

In his career he's been elite against the run but the dude the last two years has barely played because of Injuries and at 29 years old he's not getting younger, I'm not sure how much he has left but at least his wheels while not the fastest aren't broken and worn out.

Guess we'll see what happens.

Spoiler

I could not think of another Titan / Dolphin besides Tannehill. I knew it was going to be a high number (71).

I also went with the layup on Amari Cooper.

Kenny King and Joe Jurevicius for SB champs. The pain lingers.

Earl Morral for the obscure-ish Dolphin champ.

Dan Pastorini is always good for Oilers/Titans - Raiders

Fitz Fitz so I used Fitz. (he Fitz for 2 of the squares)
