A couple of thoughts on this.  He hit that other car hard.  He was treated for PTSD.  I have been in two high speed collisions, one in the suicide seat on a smash into a parked car and one into a glancing blow on a guardrail after hitting black ice hard enough to tear off the front wheel.  Both times, I was mildly concussed (bell rung), a bit of anxiety for months after the guardrail crash (probably mild PTSD).  You would have thought I was functioning at the scene of both but I really wasn’t.  Judging Ruggs at the scene is wrong, IMHO based on my own experience and from being involved on thousands of serious claims over the years in my profession.  I do think he is remorseful and contrite.

I say that because he plead guilty.  The prosecutor had issues because of how Ruggs blood was drawn.  No guarantees apparently that was coming in but he admitted fault and plead guilty.  All indications he is a pretty decent sort of guy.

We as a society can be harsh in judgment and penalties.  Probably why we lead other top tier nations in incarceration and, frankly, a whole lot of gun deaths.  When I was taking courses on crime and punishment back in the 1970s, rehabilitation not retribution was the focus of criminal penalties.  We spent a fair amount of time studying recidivism and DWI not involving alcoholism was on the top of statistics for rehabilitation.  Once Ruggs has served his sentence to the satisfaction of the state, he deserves a chance having paid his debt to society.  Frankly, if more folks were given a chance after serving a sentence, recidivism would go down, IMHO.  But a huge driver for recidivism is poverty.  If Ruggs gets a chance as a pro, poverty may not be a driver for him.  Doubt he is in a maximum security prison.  Good chance he spends his time in prison taking alcohol abuse classes and maybe even finishing his college degree.  All of that may help him and may even assist the victim’s family.  If the mother can take the high road as she demonstrated in her statement at the sentencing hearing, I think we could all stand to join her on that path.

There's no punishment that will undue the crime.  I will also say I think a lot of people underestimate how awful prison conditions are.  Even if he only serves 3 years, that is a lot of time to be incarcerated.  The hope is that he can, once released, be in a position to avoid further problems and make restitution.  If that means playing football, then I would not begrudge him the opportunity.

I can remember saying this last year at this time -- I can't believe folks want to trade away OL depth.

One of the great things about a deep team is that your depth could become tradeable. I'm not talking about trading OL6 or even OL7. I'm suggesting that Dennis Kelly, who on previous Eagles teams could very well be OL6 but because of the depth on this team is now 3rd string, could be a potential trade chip...even if it's just a late round pick.

It's sooo hard to find good OL this time of year. They're never available. Howie held on to Dillard forever because the value of backup OL.

If your backup OL stinks, and they have to play, your season is over.

I was KILLING it but Falcons/Broncos stumped me. I guessed John Mobley but he only ever played for the Broncos.

That's the one that took me the longest.  @Aerolithe_Lion would be proud I had 5 QBs on my grid at a total of 17%

It's amazing how they're stuck on that with all of these what ifs as if they had any chance to beat us. Even if they did somehow beat us they'd lose to Chiefs

Used to be just $20 or $25 to get all live preseason games and all regular season games after they've aired

I had it for several years in a row when it was dirt cheap. I avoided it like the plague until this year because it was not worth it until the added Red Zone.

This was my guy in the draft. The play at 10 seconds where he blows up the RG is fantastic. Vikings found one. Wanted him in the draft and then as an UDFA. Knowing the Eagles LB issues, he would be a great fit here.

I highly doubt that any team would give that for a backup (albeit versatile) lineman who would be headed for free agency in a year. Even a fourth is unlikely. A fifth seems more reasonable, but at that price I'd rather keep him on the roster...and eventually try to re-sign him for whatever the going rate is for an experienced, generally competent backup.

True, if for a backup. But for a guy who's going to step in and start? I had originally put fourth but decided that wasn't quite enough so I opted for conditional third - a fourth with conditions that could improve it to third.

I stopped using it when they raised the price. Doing these monthly payments is an insult

It's a shame they couldn't get all of his kids in the photo.

That is why I completely agree with the comment that it would be desirable to see a lot of Kelly in the Preseason games.

The bottom-line question is whether

Steen - Opeta -Andrews - Sills - Driscoll

is better than

Kelly - Opeta - Andrews - Sills - Steen

or

Steen - Opeta - Andrews- Sills -Kelly

In Stout I trust.

I am at 33 with 1 spot left (Pit - LA) and I refuse to use the 2 obvious answers at LB and RB since they will both be 30+

Second guess on the board ended up that Norm Van Brocklin never threw for 3000 yards. Put me out of my misery early at least

Yeah I wanted him too. Not sure why we didn’t consider him as an UDFA?

I gave up, put in the LB, and he was only 14. I guess everyone was taking public transit. 🚌

I just rage quit on my grid.  I was doing pretty good, but then I got stumped on one.  Not stumped, but I when I decided "f it, I'll go with chalk", I HAD THE WRONG BOX SELECTED.

Spoiler

I was going to do Plax but I had Broncos Steelers selected.

This is also the second time I used Ashley Lelie

I can’t imagine that Howie didn’t.  UDFAs get to choose where they want to sign.  He chose Minnie.

Oz can actually contribute on offense.  If you move on from Covey then you need someone to return punts.

Who says Covey can't contribute on offense?

He led Utah in catches 3 of his years there.

He can run.  He can play QB.
