From what I've read it sounds like Mailata had a really hard time with Garrett. That's good.

The thing about Myles Garrett is, he's actually an underrated player.  If he was playing in a bigger market he'd be getting more DPOY votes, etc.

The other thing to recognize is, there's a big difference between a joint practice and a game situation.  Any OC with brains would have a gameplan for him -- run at him, roll away from him, chip him with a RB, have a TE over to his side to chip/block him.  He's a guy you make sure doesn't impact a game in a big spot.

Somebody posted this channel the other day, think it was @jsb235? and i've been going through some of their videos and for those that like OL breakdowns, I feel this is a good basic idea on some technique:

Garrett got the best of him last year as well. I think he and Garrett actually worked on technique after practice last season.

If Tom Brady was a 6th round pick, why can't ________ be the guy?

- Teams trotting out Brock Purdy, Garbage Minshew, etc....

I still have Montana over Brady, but more importantly... 49er connection.  ;)

Howie disappoints by not landing the best FA reporter available in the offseason.

My brother when he was 18 coming home from work got in an accident with a kid on a bullet bike and the kid died on scene.

The police officer in the scene told my brother that the average lifespan of a bullet bike or it's rider was 6 weeks.

This was over 20 years ago so not sure what those stats are today.

My brother in law was an EMT, he actually quit after about a year because he was tired of scraping kids off the road from motor cycle accidents

He and the other EMTs called motorcycles

" Donor cycles"

Be careful out their peeps...

I don't think the 6 weeks has ever been true.  It is true that most fatalities on motorcycles are younger riders riding crotch rockets.

It doesn’t even have to do with how good anyone is. A bottom of the roster, rookie CB is going to be more valuable than a 3rd string old Center.

A 3rd string old center that was just available to any team in the NFL as recently as 10 days ago.  Even if the PS rules hadn't changed, he'd still be a candidate for the Julian Vandervelde yo-yo.

I'll post stuff later in the Special Teams Blog (which I know hardly anyone reads), but I'll make a quick note here in advance of that. I had originally considered the Eagles third and final punt of the game to have been a poor one. This is the punt that Scott Graham attributed to Zentner but it was actually Siposs. The Ravens return man let it bounce rather than come up to field it. It was actually pretty solid, with 4.83 hangtime. The distance wasn't great (42 yards from the line of scrimmage to where the ball landed) but it wasn't bad either. Meanwhile, Zentner's one punt -- the one the Ravens fumbled -- had a hangtime of about 4.10 seconds with a distance of about 45 yards.

Overall I'm giving a slight edge to Siposs off this game. Just one game, but that's the way I have it.

Oh, I also thought Zentner looked a bit slow mechanically. The snap to foot time on that play was well below the standard.

I think that same logic applies to a 3rd string OT that was also just available.

It also probably applies to Sua Opeta as well, although Shane Steichen could be a waiver wire taker on Opeta.

My gut feel continues to be that they only keep 8 OL on the 53.

No shame in losing to Garrett, but would like to see some growth from Mailata as a pass-protector. Still inconsistent from snap to snap.

Motorcyclists are THE worst drivers on the road, IMO.  It's a rarity to see one following the rules of the road.  There should be more stringent requirements for them to obtain a license; it seems like it must be less.

Truck drivers are the biggest a-holes of the road IMO

We have two years evidence of real games of Mailata being really good, I wouldn't put too much into one practice vs a top 3 edge rusher in the NFL.

Mailata is a good left tackle, but I also think it's fair to say that he has had issues in the past with speedy outside pass rushers who can bend the corner. Let's not make him out to be Anthony Munoz.

The 6 weeks doesn't just apply to the life of the Rider, it also takes into how long before a rider lays it down wrecking it or blows out its engine.

But yeah not sure how true it was then or not but it was apparently a prevalent enough occurence for this police officer to say it to my brother on scene.🤷‍♂️

Interesting choice.

I'm curious how everyone would rate the top 5 LT of all-time.

I read it. I look forward to it after every game and whenever you feel like posting.

I think it's good for him to face Garrett in practice.  Garrett is probably the top DE in the League at this point.

I think Jon Runyan might be an apt comparison.

Jonathan Ogden, Jason Peters, Anthony Munoz, Walter Jones. The fifth could be one of several, but those four stand out, for me.

FWIW, Ogden was tortured by Dwight Freeney time and again.

If I could fantasy draft one non-QB to this team, it'd be Myles Garrett. Dude is an absolute juggernaut and, holding all situations constant (impossible, I know), has an argument for best player in the NFL.

Could be. As fast as Parsons and Reddick but stronger.
