I get that BB hurt your (royal you, not anyone in particular) feelings when in 2007 someone pretended there was a walkthrough tape in 2001 and you then decided that pretend tape meant there had to be a pretend squared delusional 2004 tape. The Newspaper retracted and ESPN retracted but your feelings are special and deep.

Me, I know he is the best. I know Brady is the best. I know Gronk was the best (Kelce closing in) and my team beat them all anyway in 2017.

I'm good.

Why you all carry around this weird baggage is beyond me. I really worry about people who believe Deflategate is real. Like don't buy any bridges or timeshares. Avoid Nigerian Princes.

So, no. Gotcha.

Take my answer as you see fit.  I can look at your list and say some of them deserve to be in the conversation.  Picking the actual best is not important to me

Ahh, now it makes sense why Nolan Smith is playing some off-ball linebacker…

Oh I get it now, you're trolling. I remember years ago there used to be a Seahawks fan that would only come to the blog to troll eagles fans. You remind me of him.

I was listening to KNBR 680 this afternoon and Tolbert and Copes were first talking to Matt Maiocca and then to Donte Whitner about the Niners Saturday loss to the Raiders.  They very matter of factly voiced their straightforward acceptance of the Niners’ lack of depth across the board.

That made me pause and think about the Eagles’ across the board abundance of depth … thanks to (1) Howie’s relentless pursuit of valuable players, and (2) the coaching staff’s ability to bring out the best in the players they have.  We are truly blessed … and should be very thankful.

Lets hear your case for someone else. Its easy to say its not BB. Its impossible to say its someone else and back it up.

Madden and his 1 ring?

Papa Bear and his 6 rings in 40 years in a 10-12 team league?

Don Shula? LOL 6-6 in the playoffs with Marino

Lombardi?   77-26-4 with Starr.  19-11-2 without with nothing won as a HC without Starr.

Landry and his 2-3 in SBs as a HC? He never won without Staubach.

Reid?   BB owns him in the playoffs 3-0 and Reid was terrible in 2 of the 3 matchups with time management.

Oh, I know. Its Sean McVay!   👀

Interesting that you didn’t list Bill Walsh

For me, Lombardi will always be the GOAT coach.  BB is a close 2nd, and the reason he trails Lombardi is the presence of Brady.  There is nothing that can bring Lombardi’s greatness any sliver of doubt.  No one player impacted his teams the way one player impacted BB’s teams.  The presence of Brady creates a "chicken and egg” situation for BB that doesn’t exist for Lombardi.

Not shocking when you waste a ton of assets on a now worthless QB and trade a 2/3/4 for an RB when the Eagles sign them off the street for pennies

The combination of the Trey Lance and CMC trades have made them very top-heavy. They're lucky they got so many mid-round picks from the updated Rooney Rule. I'm still salty they waited for us to lose Andrew Berry before implementing it.

I agree for the most part with the exception of WR. If Brown or Smith go down for an extended period I’d be worried.

No free agency made it a lot easier to keep your team intact back in the day. A huge advantage not afforded today’s teams.

I say this with as much kindness as I can muster, as I hope you won't report me.  I know how thin-skinned you are.  Would you please shut up about your love for the cheating Patriots?

Thanks.

BB is the beat HC, no doubt.  There were a lot of great calls over the years in big situations.  Decisions to go for it on trick plays.  Formulating plays to take advantages of forgotten corners of the rule book that caught teams off guard.

I'm curious though how long Andy can go with Mahomes.  He's getting older and isn't in great shape but what if he goes onto win 3-4 more rings before he retires?

Why is an Eagles fan in the blog going to such great lengths to smoke Belichick's pole?

Right?  It's weird.  Anyone with a half- functioning brain knows the Pats have a long history of cheating, much of which was covered up by Goodell to protect the integrity of the NFL.  F that frumpy old fat toad Belichick.  He lucked into having both the best QB and the best defensive player of all time playing under him.

At the same time, lack of free agency also made it hard for bottom teams to climb up that mountain to reach the top.  That is a huge advantage that teams today have that weren't afforded back in the day.

Some people are just wedded to the idea of being objective. Truly it doesn’t make one less of an Eagles fan to admit Belichick’s greatness. Nor does doing so make one a pole smoker.

I'm guessing he likes the taste.

The Pats attitude was and I guess always will be. If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying.

That advantage (or disadvantage) makes the job that Vermeil did with the Eagles so amazing. He took over a pathetic four win team that had blown just about every draft for the past five years (1973 being the lone exception) and had no picks in the first two rounds for the next three years because of an inane series of trades made by his predecessor. By his third year, without a first or second round pick in either year and no free agency to work with, he had the team in the playoffs. Two years later they were in the Super Bowl. It’s such a shame that it unraveled after that and he felt the need to quit. I’m convinced that if he had been able to stay the course, we’d have gotten a Lombardi long before we ever did. Several, I suspect.

It kills me that we had two brilliant HOF-bound head coaches in the prime of their coaching careers and both of them won Super Bowls with other teams, not us. Thank God 2017 happened.

100%. Watkins or Zaccheus playing outside is a gigantic step down. Anyone behind those two would be a step back of course, but I was truly hoping for a bit better depth there. Can't have it all though.

Certainly it would be a large drop off from either Brown or Smith, but would the overall passing game see a similar drop off, or would it just evolve?

With that said, the play of the depth WRs thus far in TC and Saturday's game has been one of the bright spots of this offseason so far.

True, but Green Bay wasn't a big money franchise.  Plus, Lombardi was the reason the players were so good.

Objective is not a word I would associate with Skippy.  He rivals RTK on the objectiveness scale.

Reid is a better coach than BB.
