I think a big part of his coaching tree is too many guys got opportunities that were undeserved. They were good coordinators and only got promotions for being in the Patriot aura. There are some decent ones from his tree though. I don't think O'Brien was a disaster as a HC, but he's tarnished because he wanted to be GM which was a disaster. Flores seemed to be a pretty good HC. Saban was meh in the pro's but obviously a great college HC. Vrabel is kind of an offshoot of the Belichick tree and is fairly ok.

That's true Vrabel looks solid. Flores was OK I guess. It just seems disproportionately bad for such a prolific coach compared to other greats like Reid, Parcels, Walsh, Shanahan, Schottenheimer etc. Even taking the Brady advantage into account it's odd

Reid was a great HC before Mahomes.

This is the biggest part I think.  My perception is Belichick likely works 18-hour days and is responsible for 80% of the work.  Some of these guys who got head coaching jobs by working with him were doing only slightly more than going out and getting coffee (exaggerating for effect, of course)

Reid has likely been better at delegating true responsibility down, and the results point toward coaches who are better qualified to lead.

Doesn't help that most moved on to try to be Belichick-Lite either. That's a hard sell as a first time HC going to loser organizations with players already struggling to be motivated.

The Eagles are the only team playing Thursday? After playing on Saturday. Kinda weird.

The Ravens/Eagles game was supposed to be on Friday, then got pushed to Saturday which messed up the schedule.

I think Cleveland is playing too.

I agree for the most part with the exception of WR. If Brown or Smith go down for an extended period I’d be worried.

Do you forget that we still have Greg Ward?!  :flex:. 2019 Eagles' reception leader.

Other than health anything you want to see in tomorrow's game vs the Browns?

Meaningful snaps from Roderick Johnson

Lots of targets to Cleveland, Ngata, King, and Haselwood.

It would be nice to see Allen get some snaps, but I've pretty much moved on from that.  You snooze, you lose.

I'd love to see a splash play from Ojomo

No sacks.

Solid run blocking.

Belicheck has multiple rings as a DC too. Greatest defensive mind of all-time.

I'd still go LeBeau over BB.

lol y'all just hating...

first of all, he beat Reid in the SB.

Second, he's one of the greatest defensive minds, if not the greatest in NFL history

lastly, he took the 2008 Patriots (without Brady) to an 11-5 record and got robbed of the playoffs somehow..and a Browns team in 1994 that won 11 games and weren't able to do so for another 16 years.

What exactly has Andy Reid done without Mahomes? How are you going to say BB never won without Brady and then ignore the fact that Reid was exactly the same until Mahomes. Cringe

Saban is a great college recruiter, and I'd say a far better recruiter than he is a coach.  Coaches who do more with less impress me more than having the top recruiting class and then turning that into winning.   That said... a lot of top level recruits fail to meet their expectations, so he and his staff do a good job of developing the clay they get into what they are projected to be, many times.  But, for me, I generally prefer to see the Cinderella story in the NCAA... the little school, or the school without all the advantages of recruiting, boosters, etc. take it to the 'big boys'.

Silly question.   Would BB be considered great if Bledsoe hadn't gotten injured?

Did he "find" Mahomes?

Meant to say in consideration for being the greatest but your answer may still be the same

Settled on my non Eagles NFL predictions for the 2023 season. Might add a few.

Quote
Despite hype for the Lions and Bears, the Vikings will win that division again.

Dorian Thompson Robinson will start more games at QB for the Browns in 2023 than Deshaun Watson.

In 2022, 4 teams finished the season with 4 wins or fewer. Only one team will do that in 2023.

Derek Carr will vastly outperform Jimmy Garoppolo and a common 2023 narrative will be "Why did the Raiders let him walk?"

The AFC North will be the most competitive division in the NFL, meaning the division separated by the fewest wins.

At least one of the QBs drafted in the top 5 in the 2023 draft will perform unspectacularly enough to where one of the storylines during the season will be "If this team picks high enough, should they draft Caleb Williams or Drake Maye in 2024?"

Washington's offense will not be much different than last season and the Eric Bieniemy talk will start to die out by the end of the season as people realize Andy Reid was the brains behind the Chiefs' operation.

Sean Payton will bench Russell Wilson at least once during the season to put his stamp of authority on the Broncos and to send a message.

The talk of Desmond Ridder being the QB of the future for the Falcons will be dead by the end of the season.

The Patriots will finish last in their division for the first time since 2000.

Thought about adding the Niners will try to lure Brady out of retirement during the season.

The questions have different answers.

Question 1. : No

Question 2. Yes, again, he's one of the best minds the NFL has ever had...he was already a "great" coach and regarded as one of the best defensive gurus before arriving in NE . He became Top 5 all-time with Brady, Reid hasn't and never will

So what's silly?

How many of those guys have a defensive game plan that was placed in the HOF?

1, BB defensive game plan against the Bills in the Super Bowl is in the HOF.
