I went to Hello, Sailor for "brunch" yesterday with some friends in Cornelius.  We were supposed to go there a few weeks back, but we had to cancel for something.  That place is awesome.  It was tough bringing both the daughters still a really good spot!!

Dig it, man! It is a really cool spot. With great views. You guys should check out Port City Club in Cornelius. Another good restaurant on the lake.

I basically live next door to it. I'll bring my harem of cougars the next time you're in town.

I have no idea.

Be careful of @NCiggles. He seems like a nice guy until he lures you to an Eagles game and then tries to diddle you in the port-a-john.

What's not nice about that?

Well, the term means involuntary celibate....but I'd argue that isn't true considering the aforementioned diddling.

I take incels under my wing.

An incel is one drunk cougar away from getting his confidence back.

3 am snack for Andy Reid

Although it's super frustrating, think I am seeing Howie's plan here with the punting position. No point in getting a new punter NOW and commit. He's gonna save that roster spot for one of the young guys and keep flexibility for the first 3 weeks of the season. Will do what they did with Covey & Kern last year and put him on the practice squad. However, I think they will have him on probation at that time and weigh options in case he's off to a bad start. This makes the most sense right now. There will be a few more punters waived by then and he will have the pick of the litter. Hopefully, Punt God can resolve civil lawsuit ahead of pending OCT trial. 🤞 Sneaky suspicion they are one of the interested teams here that his agent refers to. Thus no rush into any of this yet.

Spill the beans essay...

When considering who will be on the initial 53, we need to consider injuries and who are vested veterans whose salary would be guaranteed for the season and aren’t subject to waivers.  Supports arguments against Kelly and Andrews. The two Johnsons not named Lane are close.  Pretty sure Toth is a vested vet.  Opeta and Sills aren’t. I think Evans qualifies because I think he was IRed or PUPed in 2020.  Edmunds definitely is. So are Cunningham and Morrow. Penny is, Sermon isn’t.  (B Scott is, but his contract makes him a wash.  Barnett is, Robinson and T. Jackson aren’t but Barnett carries some cap hits.  J Scott is, Goodrich, Ricks and Garner aren’t.  Street is.

Oromo has a concussion.  Could easily see the Eagles put him on the 53, then after the first game IR him and resign Street, for example.

I expect moves not including the current 90 to be in play too.

Has anyone noticed what Nick Herbig has been doing? Envy the Steelers ability to find LB.

Sigh. This should come as no surprise. The Steeler system is LB-centric. Ours is not. Ours is DL, then CBs, then S. We play a light box a lot. They play a heavy box. They want bigger, stronger LBs and they almost always have three on the field, if not four. We play two. Their LBs have a different physical profile. Our LBs couldn’t play in their system and their LBs couldn’t play in ours.

Accept that we play different systems and value different talents. It might be worth noting that our defense is better.

Don't think Howie will be involved.

We have bargain binned at RB

Hopefully Swift and Penny pan out

I'll say he goes to one of: Ravens, Bengals, Bills, Patriots, Chiefs.

While there's not a lot going on at the moment, here's a question that I came up with and found sort of interesting.

Would you RIGHT NOW....if you were offered...trade Jordan Davis to a team like the Colts (a team you think will probably be bad this year) for a second round pick in next year's draft. You figure it'd be somewhere between 33 and 40.

Has Davis shown you enough thus far that in your heart of hearts makes you think he's going to eventually become an all-star caliber player? Forget what we paid for him. That's a sunk cost. We might only be getting seventy cents on the dollar, but is there a chance that a year or two from now his value would be even worse and we'd be lamenting not getting something of value when we could?

Remember, when we picked him we had no idea that we'd be able to land Jalen Carter the following year.

The coaches see him every day and we've only seen glimpses so maybe this is an absurdity of a question. Still, I honestly don't know what I'd do. I'd certainly give it some thought.

Nope.  I think you have to trust your pre-draft evaluation on him, knowing that he was going to take a bit of time to develop and Eagles rookies typically don't see the field that much.

My expectations for him this season is to outperform Milton Williams and Jalen Carter for reps, and for him to show he's a logical DT successor to Cox and Hargrave.  If he fails to show himself as a building block piece on the defense this season, that conversation can still be had after the 2023 season.
