Purdy is a nice story, but relied on a running game to get by.  He's stands a chance, but your are right. Cousins has been quietly talked about as a Shanny target.  Just not sure he'll win the big one though.

Purdy was pyrite last year.  He'll be exposed this season.

Gainwell was not a running QB.

Yes, I'm in favor of halfback option passes.

However,  I'm not jizzing about it,  it's not like halfback option passes are new or rare.  Obviously I'm in favor of more of them.

Nonsense.  It is working.  Give them a little cushion then break their hearts.   Just like having a guy batting 0.185 at the top of the lineup is working.

It works until it doesn’t. Vikings last year were undefeated in 1 score games until he playoffs where they lost a 1 score game. I tend to think if you play with fire enough it’ll eventually burn you.

I think cousins is an upgrade from what Jimmy G was but your end result is likely going to be the same as he tends to fold in big games.

Seems like he would fit right in.

@garingovt2000 what you pictured out of context was that you were on page 2 of the punter stats where the really bad punters go. You also have the wrong stat highlighted. Net Average is what you want.

Yes, Paladay sucked slightly more than Siposs last year, but for his career he is a better punter. He should at least be competition.

Id have 5 guys in to replace that loser.

Almost everyone is a better punter than Siposs.

Well, it's pre-season.  So need to get too worked up over it.  I mean just get the hand lotion ready for game week.

FWIW on that halfback option: It was a play that Shane Steichen put in the playbook last year. They ran it against him as a wink and a 'we remember you, bro' kind of thing.

Yup.  And Topper will ride it out, and it will either burn us or it won't.   Topper won't change it and our pitchers aren't meaning to give up an early run all the time, but it does seem to work out that way a lot... usually HRs.

Some people are just never pleased.

So your solution to fix the punter situation is to bring in a guy that was worse last year, and was cut this year out of TC.

Meanwhile, the time for competition is over.  Time to set the 53 is now.    Incidentally, Paladay's net avg was even worse than Siposs as well (40.6 yards vs. 37.3 yards.).

ReagorSZN. He's hitting those benchmarks! :showoff:

Dolphins and Colts talking Taylor.

Why the Dolphins wouldn’t sign Cook for no picks, but give up picks for Taylor is beyond me, but the Dolphins have been the most overhyped team in recent years for a reason.

I'm with you. They also knew that not signing Cook meant there was a 90% chance he was going to the Jets.

Don’t disagree with topper is gonna keep doing what he does. But Playoffs the pressure is different. Regular season i think guys tend to press less in situations as if you lose it’s just 1 of 162 and tomorrow is another day. You get down early it can really swing things. They had some come backs last year in the postseason but in the majority of their games they were playing with a lead which really helped. The last 3 against the Astros it felt like they were always behind and you saw guys pressing to hit good pitching and they really couldn’t establish any offense.

I hear ya... gotta hope for some more magic come October.  Not much will change for this year.

Not sure if it was already posted but Corey Davis is retiring.

More targets for best buddy Randall Cobb!

I’m hoping they can get hoskins back and hitting decent for the second round of the playoffs. Even if he’s just mediocre at the plate, his approach will help them as he sees a ton of pitches and can wear on a pitcher to make a mistake to the next guy up.

You think he can actually come back in time... and be effective?  He'd be another DH candidate... meaning we are back to Schwarber in LF.    I just don't see how they could expect him to play 1B so soon.

I was thinking he'd be a pinch hit bat on the bench, at most.

Net average is three yards worse. Six less inside the 20 with only two less punts. Two more touchbacks on two less punts.

I think you need work on reading this chart and I question your conclusions.

I'm ready for the news cycle of purdy being bad, and then everyone blaming the injury.

@garingovt2000 was refuting the assertions put forward by @SkippyX.

I think he can. He had his acl injury early enough. Schwarber came back and was DH for the cubs in their WS. He could’ve played sooner than that but they kept him out cause they wanted to give him an extra week and a half and he tore his on april 8th. Hoskins tore his in March 23rd. I think you’d see harper at first and schwarber in OF and defensive replacement late in games with marsh or Rojas. Schwarber when he came back for that WS hit .412/.500/.471/.971
