So will it be Dean and Cunningham with Elliss coming in on 3rd downs for Cunningham?  I'm still on the Elliss train as I think he will be a very good player.  Or does LB come off completely on 3rd and long with Sydney Brown or Edmunds coming in?

I consider reports of Wallace's improvement to be similar to Bigfoot sightings. We hear them, but we never actually see it with our own eyes. I remain skeptical. Perhaps I'm being irrational but I have Wallace in my "do not want" category.

From watching the PS games, I didn’t see Wallace make any obvious positioning blunders whereas I clearly saw at least two from Evans in coverage.  He was late on one throw against McPhearson against Cleveland but I suspect that was Cover 1.  Of course all of this presupposes the likely Cover called, which I admit is an assumption. That said, none of the S play blew me away.  I like Brown’s aggression.  While he is a tad slow reacting sometimes, once he reacts, he goes full bore.  He’s a rookie at an instinct driven position and I think that will improve dramatically with some experience.  The "starting” Ss were Wallace and Edmunds in both games.  When Edmunds drops deep, he tends to drop too deep and is a tad late helping CBs.  Wallace is clearly taught to not let anything get behind him which can be a bit tough on a 4.5 corner (McPhearson) playing speed where he was just a tad behind the WR.  Edmunds is excellent in the box.  (Better than Morrow).  (The All22 is painful to watch in PS because the defense is so vanilla.)

That said, I wonder if the "tryouts” aren’t so much for the second S as situational.  In other words, I don’t think it is as simple as Blankenship and XXXX are the Ss as more of a for this type of down, Blankenship and a specific S are the Ss.  There is some risk to that because of knowing what can be relied on from a chemistry perspective.  But Desai will likely disguise the coverage much better than Gannon did.  I could be way off base but only games will tell.

Interesting tidbit, in his TC awards, for UDFA, McMullen picked Garner.  Said he thought Garner outplayed Ricks.  Now in one on ones, the CB tends to take the inside.  That favors Garner and with his size, he is hard to run through.  But I suspect Garner wasn’t playing Allen for most of the summer and the slowness I thought showed in the first two games was somewhat muted by Ward, Covey, Ngata and Haselwood not being speedsters themselves. Would be curious how many reps he had against Quez and how those went.  Garner is shiftier than I thought he would be.

I would agree about J Scott except he played at the end of the games.  I think Goodrich has more agility but is a tad slower than Scott.  Scott is best outside but he just doesn’t have the size for it.

BTW, Jobe looked good in both zone and man.  But Cleveland absolutely left him alone.

Who is Creed Bratton and why is he banned?

When I see athletic ability like that, I can't help but think he'd have been the perfect replacement for Mariota. Amirite?

Depends entirely on the offensive personnel packages, of course.

Yeah, I'd go Ricks based on potential vs someone like Scott who might get a bit better, but after four years is probably close to what you are going to get.

If the only objective to roster construction is keeping the players with the best future potential such that your 2024 and 2025 seasons might look a little rosier, then yes. But there comes a point in time when you have to try to win games THIS year. And dammit, by no means am I suggesting that Josiah Scott is some great player, but he can kinda play a little bit. And they have won games with him getting meaningful snaps.

Every Punter is a holder, stay after practice and work on it. It's literally one of two jobs that guy would have.

If that is the reasoning for keeping this bum Punter it's a bad one.

Yes, that is part of the job but there is value in having consistency in the unit from snapper to holder to kicker.  A slight difference in the holder could throw off timing.

I didn't say it was the only reason for keeping Siposs.  What I said is that it would have to be an obvious upgrade in punting to throw a wrench into the kicking game.  It is unlikely that we find a big upgrade from cuts.

It’s a 7th round pick so it doesn’t really matter, but Simmons in all likelihood sucks. His contract is cheap so it wasn’t even a salary dump. Surely the Cardinals offered him around to other teams and they couldn’t be bothered with beating a 7.

Reddick kinda sucked in AZ too until they were forced to use him as a pass rusher.

I was trying to remember the full scope of what Miami got for Lance and what they did with the draft capital.

2021 first-round pick (No. 12 overall)
Miami traded this pick, a 4th and a future 1st for Jalen Waddle and a 5th.  But you all knew that
2022 first-round pick (No. 29 overall)
    Miami traded this pick, a 2nd and a 4th, plus a 2023 4th and 6th for Tyreek Hill
2022 third-round pick (No. 102 overall)
    Channing Tindall  LB
2023 first-round pick (No. 29 overall)
Miami traded this pick, a 2024 4t, and RB Chase Edmonds for Bradley Chubb and a 2025 5th

Can you imagine if SF did not draft Lance?  Miami absolutely fleeced SF on that trade.  The result is surprisingly that BOTH teams are good.

I think its Mekhi Garner

Cane has dreads.

King looks like Charlie Murphy.

That picture is the epitome of 'If this guy  starts any regular season game, I'm gonna be really concerned'.  It's the obscure Eagles challenge, and I cheated because I had no idea who that was.

Well, I don't know why he was banned, but I'll tell you this.  Nobody steals from Creed Bratton and gets away with it.  The last person to do this disappeared.  His name?  Creed Bratton.

Maybe. Arizona tried him at a bunch of spots and he couldn’t play at any of them. But maybe the Giants have a different, specific vision for him.

Arizona is also just a really bad organization.

That Packers fan was really annoying that's for sure, and he was trying to be friendly.

I don't mind guys like that. If you're not a trash talker, then by all means I welcome discussion about an opposing team. Getting a different perspective can be a good thing.

I think Book is fine as a practice squad QB but I am sure they will look for other possibilites.

Nah.  They need to find a QB for the PS, not him.

Yeah that's gonna be amazing, and amazingly tough, to watch.

Yeah I might watch the first half or so and then have to bail. No way am I ready to put myself through that again.

How many categories do you have?

Remember, Monica had 11 towel categories.

I'm guessing that's either a Lewinski reference or a Friends reference. And I don't know which.

Yeah, we mostly agree. The question is how far away would a Ricks be though? Kinda play a little bit vs we can see Ricks playing later in the season after we work with him for a few more months. They know better than us after seeing him each day. If it will be a year or two then they should cut him and roll the dice of getting him to the PS, which they will probably do.

Pretty sure it's the latter. My wife loves that show.

I hate to root against a player on the Eagles, but tonight I am looking for a Siposs debacle to get him cut. Knowing him, he will crack under pressure tonight! 😁  Time's yours, PUNT GOD...

No offense, but that's kinda moronic.

Sure. He was playing out of position for some dumb reason and flourished once he played his natural position. Simmons doesn’t have a natural position.

Sounds like Edmunds has been coming on in the " Big Nickel"

Seeing as most offenses are pre dominant In pass heavy formations with 3 or more WR sets most teams base defense is nickel.

So is Cunningham going to be in the starting nickel and in 3rd and long Ellis or Edmunds replace him???

Seems like the offense would just pass when Cunningham is on the field???

Why not just put the guy in the is better at pass coverage in a passing league and dare them to run???

Also is Morrow still in the pic?

Or, doesn't have a DC who knows how to use his talents.  I believe he does have talent and that it's been wasted in AZ.  We'll find out soon enough in NY, I guess.
