Would be hilarious. somehow USC gets enough NIL money for Williams and Williams really doesn’t want to go to the cardinals. I really doubt it but would be hilarious.

A year longer to get to the 2nd contract

I doubt it happens. But with NIL in the ncaa today he could get some serious money being at usc and in the LA market and going to the big 10 the following year.  Was also the news that broke this weekend he wants to see who has the first overall pick before deciding to declare which i still think he’s going

If the Eagles were to get Jonathan Taylor,  there would be less of a running back by committee,  and more of Jonathan Taylor.

No way

Yeah, I think that's probably what the problem was.  He never could stay healthy.

They will have Gainwell move to FB.

Wentz at least showed MVP form in 2017 and was good in 2019. Plus, Frank thought he could fix him. I don't think anyone else gives us an offer close to that.

I think there will always be at least one dumb GM out there. Best FA QB's next year are Kirk Cousins and Ryan Tannehill (who is super awesome and or a journeyman). I think there will be a team out there with a GM on a hot seat that will try to save their job. Murray just turned 26 too, he's still young.

My question is -- what are you getting for Murray this offseason? The good news is that he only has 1 year of guarantees left in 2024, so the contract isn't onerous. But I can't see anyone giving up a 1st for a guy who's shown very little, and is a mobile QB coming off an injury. Maybe you get a 3rd?

F it.  Murray for Marcus Mariota straight up

Eagles got a 1st and 2nd for Wentz AFTER 2020 and with no real bargaining power. Some dumb team would give up a 1st for Murray.

We had to use some real wizardry for him (and Bradford).

Other teams just don‘t get that much for QBs that are done.

Ohtani might have issues later on. He tore his UCL again yesterday. There’s a chance Ohtani may have to just be DH next year and potentially long term

Bill Belichick will trade for him.

This is not true.

it's SORTA true

One set are DEs,  the other set are OLBs.   They both line up on the DL,  the OLBs are smaller.

Last year,  Sweat, Cox, Hargrave, Reddick were the starting 4 DL, or got the most snaps.
This year, maybe Sweat, Cox, Williams, Reddick get the most snaps.  But maybe Davis gets more snaps than Cox or something,  maybe more Carter than Williams.

And then murder him after week 5...

I’m still more amazed we got a first for Bradford then the wentz package.

They had to put a clause about watching film in his contract...and now he's a mobile QB coming off an injury. You'd have to give me a 3rd to take him and pay him almost $40mm in 2024.

I just can't think of which GM is that dumb. I hope Jerry dumps Dak and trades a 1st for Kyler.

Still crazy how that clause was obviously agreed on until it became public and he was embarrassed so he told them to remove it

Out of the box thinking, but can we name Mariota the 2023 Nasty Nate winner just based off how much he sucks and how close Chip Kelly was to decimating this team for him in 2015?

Roseman pounced the second Teddy's knee exploded.

Sounds like Edmunds has been coming on in the " Big Nickel"

Seeing as most offenses are pre dominant In pass heavy formations with 3 or more WR sets most teams base defense is nickel.

So is Cunningham going to be in the starting nickel and in 3rd and long Ellis or Edmunds replace him???

Seems like the offense would just pass when Cunningham is on the field???

Why not just put the guy in the is better at pass coverage in a passing league and dare them to run???

Also is Morrow still in the pic?

We play a lot of light box with two DTs and two DE/LBs who may have their hand in the dirt, or not. Already we are daring teams to run.2023-08-24.thumb.png.9272345c5511b8d61a5cdbd63bd565d4.png

A factoid that may only interest me.  But, breaking news, Stephen Strasburg is going to announce his retirement in September.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/08/stephen-strasburg-plans-to-retire.html

Per the WaPo story, he's still got pretty bad nerve damage.  He has problems opening doors, picking up his kids, or basically doing anything with his right hand.  He gave up his body for baseball.

He got at ‘chip at least.

in hindsight and anyone who saw Bradford play in 2015, Minnesota likely would’ve been better off just being really bad in 2016 and having a shot at watson or mahomes in the 2017 draft. They never were going to do that though. Also they probably would’ve been dumb like the bears and taken trubisky

Frankly, neither has Mariota.    And honestly, what will a few more reps do for him?   He's about to be 30 years old and has been in the league for almost a decade.  How much could 30 extra reps do for him?

The players who need the reps are WRs and TEs on the bubble.

Mariota is better to throw to those backups than Book.

The Eagles wouldn't be putting Mariota out there in order to see what Mariota can do.  He started last year 4-4 with the Falcons.  If Mariota is out there in a regular season game,  the Eagles would likely run a lot, and Mariota would run a good bit.  But in the preseason,  the Eagles aren't trying to show what Mariota plus a lot of running would look like.

I'd like to see what Mariota to Tyree Jackson looks like.  And have McKee throwing to Calcaterra.  The Eagles have the better idea right now about who is going to make the 53, not us.

I'd like to see things like - Nolan Smith running the ball as TE2.  VanSumeren running the ball as TE2.  Fullbacks, basically, Jim Brown sized Fullbacks,  but listed under TE2,  versatile back,  miscellaneous back.   But I wouldn't be betting that happens.

Doesn't dress Jimmy G going against the best DL in the NFL last year

NN should go to Zentner. Almost everyone was salivating over the guy the instant he was signed.

At least with Mariota he hasn't lost his athleticism. He can still move. He might be a better runner than Hurts (TBF, he's a different type of a runner). There's hope for improvement.
There's zero hope with Ian Book.

Mariota and Hurts are both top QB runners.  Based on nextgen stats,   Mariota is the 2nd fastest,  Hurts is the 3rd fastest.   Hurts is built like a running back and is more powerful.  Despite being fast,  Mariota never ran for 500 yards in a season.

LB is looking more and more solid every day.  I have taken it off my list.  Punter is clearly on Howie’s watch list, but I don’t want change just for the sake of change.  I’d rather roll with Siposs.

I’m surprised Safety isn’t on your list.

I’m not as convinced. I like Dean, but he’s still an unknown. After that I like Cunningham, but age/injuries make me wonder how much he has left in the tank. Then it’s some JAGs.
