Ohtani might have issues later on. He tore his UCL again yesterday. There’s a chance Ohtani may have to just be DH next year and potentially long term

I didn't know that.  So sad.  Seems that it's just too much to be the awesomest.

Who the heck is  running the cardinals, I mean why the heck give him a 4.5 mil bonus then trade him, let alone just for a 7th??

Either the cardinals are the most idiotic franchise in the league or there's something they aren't telling us, I'm going with the former...😒

The bonus was only $2.5M, and they just structured it that way because his base salaries were so low the first 3 years. It's pretty dumb to pay it just to trade him less than a month later, but there's some context behind it.

Also, it's likely that bonus was a sticking point for any trade. I doubt teams wanted to trade for him just to pay that, and it was fully guaranteed so Cardinals couldn't just cut him. They were kinda stuck.

8pm start time for the final preseason game….gross

I think Vick needed to go to jail to change his life. He was talented enough to win games with zero effort. Without that wake-up call he would have never changed.

I think that's fair but I also think he was not provided any guard rails in Atlanta.

Good for the Phillies as they don’t face him as a pitcher like they were scheduled too. But also sucks for him to be injured but also cause he’s such a unique player that we haven’t seen someone be all star level hitter and pitcher in a really long time.

The players who need the reps are WRs and TEs on the bubble.

Mariota is better to throw to those backups than Book.

The Eagles wouldn't be putting Mariota out there in order to see what Mariota can do.  He started last year 4-4 with the Falcons.  If Mariota is out there in a regular season game,  the Eagles would likely run a lot, and Mariota would run a good bit.  But in the preseason,  the Eagles aren't trying to show what Mariota plus a lot of running would look like.

I'd like to see what Mariota to Tyree Jackson looks like.  And have McKee throwing to Calcaterra.  The Eagles have the better idea right now about who is going to make the 53, not us.

I'd like to see things like - Nolan Smith running the ball as TE2.  VanSumeren running the ball as TE2.  Fullbacks, basically, Jim Brown sized Fullbacks,  but listed under TE2,  versatile back,  miscellaneous back.   But I wouldn't be betting that happens.

If we are trying to evaluate players on offense, specifically in the passing game, then having Mariota out there is a waste.  He's not a good passer, McKee has already proven to be far better than him in that arena.

As for the last bit... thanks for the laugh.  Gotta be trolling!

Maybe,  but also maybe not.   They could cut him and some team might pick him up and put him on their practice squad.  But if he gets to the Eagles practice squad, no team is likely to put him on their 53.

There will be QBs cut with better stat lines than 10-18.

I don't know why I keep responding to you, but no.

Disaster is a strong word.   It's not like Mariota didn't win some games when he threw the ball a lot.  And I don't think we're talking triple option all the time like Army or Paul Johnsons Georgia Tech.   Not a 90/10 run/pass ratio,  but a normal college ratio like 70/30 run/pass.

The Eagles have a great OL,  with great run blocking.

Yeah... the bolded is the point... trust the OL and the running game if it comes down to Mariota.

Going by recent history, not from 8 seasons ago... 1 game with a win with more than 20 attempts.  1.

Queen is on his rookie deal.  He's cheap.  the Cardinals were paying much more for Simmons than the Ravens are paying for Queen.

My point is Queen will cost significantly more to trade for and then they have to pay him like Taylor. They don't need to make that kind of move but they do need one.

I agree to an extent… but the type of guy running a dog fighting ring is a few steps removed from a mentor to help him watch tape IMO.

Yes - It was organized crime.

Shoo Shoo Shoo (45 second mark)

They watched this clown get pantsed on the same exact play in the red zone twice in a Super Bowl and then gave him the keys to the franchise.

McKee has not played well.   Some people get excited when they see pretty balls,  but 10-18 isn't some great stat line.  Other teams have 3rd and 4th stringers doing better than that in the preseason.

Yup.  McKee has been bad, and Mariota has been good.

It seems they gave him the keys to the franchise before the Super Bowl... or so it would seem with the tampering compensation and the flip of 3rd round picks.

Forgetting the impact on the Phillies... it's a massive loss for baseball fans everywhere.  True 'freakbeasts' are rare.  He really is one.

Same.

Patrick Mahomes is only 12 for 17 this preseason. That's barely better than 10-18. He's a name I'd watch out for when teams make final cuts. I'd be willing to cut Ngata to pick him up, possibly Ricks (depending on how he does tonight).

Hurts hasn't completed any passes.  For the life of me, it's gonna be difficult to fathom him surviving cutdown day.

Dude... you can't cut Ngata for a guy that's 12 for 17.  crazy.

The 4.8 time in the 40 is a little slow. His RAS is fine but not FreakBeast

When I see athletic ability like that, I can't help but think he'd have been the perfect replacement for Mariota. Amirite?

was he a high school QB?  I'd look it up, but he's on the Giants now.

You're right, I was being too silly. With that stat line he should have a clear path to the PS.
