Forgetting the impact on the Phillies... it's a massive loss for baseball fans everywhere.  True 'freakbeasts' are rare.  He really is one.

Yup. Curious to see what the FA market is like for him due to his rare skill set but now needing TJ.

Angels have some really bad luck with injuries. Trout finally came back yesterday then got hurt again and is back on IL.

You're right, I was being too silly. With that stat line he should have a clear path to the PS.

precisely.

side note: Josh Dobbs is the oldest 28 year old I've ever seen in my life. He makes Robert Quinn look spry.

Something wrong with the water out there or something.

Some random thoughts from watching the PS All22s so far.

I like VanSumeren better than most on here.  Raw but boy does he play and I thought he showed good lane discipline on STs coverage.

Speaking of STs.  For the love of the football gods (I know it is PS and that players are getting tryouts), can Clay teach dropping and blocking on STs.  It was awful to start the year last year and I swear (taking the football gods’ names in vain) it is worse this PS.  Put on either PS game and the opponents set up blocking.  The Eagles looked haphazard.  Ugh

Quite a battle between Jackson and Robinson for what may be a Practice Squad spot.

I thought Morrow was a tackler.  He seems like Singleton 2.0

What little we saw of N Smith and Carter, that’s going to be fun watching them in real games.

Yet to see Covey run routes.  Greg Ward is the fifth best WR on the team.  Routes looked polished and getting separation with the twos.  The really want Ngata to succeed.  However he needs to use his size better.  No twitch at the end of routes or boxing out.  He is really trying on blocking but he is not better than Calcaterra at this point.  At this point I think Jackson as a fourth TE makes better sense than a sixth WR.  He runs just about as fast as Ngata and uses his size better (albeit Ngata against 2s and Jackson against 3s).

Steen can pull but needs to stay on his feet.  Needs stronger punch with those arms playing LT.

Ojomo is raw.

Vanilla D looks like chaos by the fourth quarter.  I know it is by design and clearly testing players  You can almost see the players running the fundamentals through their minds.  My eyes hurt after watching PS All22.

Oh and Taylor trade is Howie checking price. Fred Johnson was let go early as a gesture to let him attract another team before cutdowns.  Why players like the organization.  Suspicion is he will be back for the practice squad. (Vested vet so that impacts being 53 week one.) (Edit. Contract works too.)

Good post.

VanSumeren - Yes
Covey - Yes
Ward - Yes
Tyree Jackson - Yes

How the hell does a team get a fifth round pick for Josh Dobbs in the year of our lord 2023?

Some people look good bald in their 20s. Michael Jordan etc.

Josh Dobbs looks like an Observer from Fringe.

Started the day trading away players to stock pile picks for the future, ended the day net negative for Josh Dobbs.

The Arizona Cardinals, everyone.

The Cardinals are 4.5 on win total this year.

The Under has to be free money at this point, right?

Injuries can happen. But I don’t see 4 wins on that schedule and i could see them just not playing murray if it means securing the no. 1 pick.

Hey, the 2022 49ers proved that if your head coach is a weirdo you need at least 7 QBs.

The only way they win 5 games is if they add land mines and pit traps with spears at the bottom to that terrible field.

So they hired sod god?

At least the Cardinals traded away our 5 for Dobbs.

FWIW, the best bald guy is NoHo Hank.

F it.  Murray for Marcus Mariota straight up

Cost of Murray far exceeds cost of Mariota.

That's just silly. You can't catch a pass if you can't run, and you certainly aren't going anywhere after you catch a pass if you can't run. You're just silly.

somebody else made the comment,  I was guessing at a clarification

Like this,  which people understand.  Penny is more of a runner and Swift is more of a pass catcher.  Not a particularly interesting theory.

Maybe if they tried him at LB more his stock would be up

Or TE?

@LeanMeanGM   Well played.

Penny does have 129 less catches but a better 40 time so Penny has more speed in the pass game.
