A lot of us don’t live in the Philadelphia area, but if anyone likes that topic they will respond.  Bottom-line we talk about things people are interested in.

Friday night I had dinner in Fishtown and the most activity discussed topic was ballet.  Different strokes for different folks.

@paco We need a safe space for people who have strong feelings about how good Siposs is at holding his balls.

If we also have to hear about stubble and baseball, its a small price to pay in the big picture.

No reason to think that was certain to happen.  Last year, the Eagles had 4 TEs at some times.  Calc was drafted.  And he hasn't sucked.  The fact that he was drafted made it more likely they wouldn't cut him and try to get him on the practice squad.  I saw Tyree play better in preseason games.  Yet despite Tyree being better,  Calc was still drafted.  All of these things were known 1.2.3.4 weeks ago.  So, I was pitching the idea that the Eagles go WR1, WR2, TE1. TE2 (receiving TE) as the starters.  If the Eagles were going to have 2 TEs as starters,  an all around one (Goedert, and the backup Stoll) and a receiving TE (Tyree / Calc) they would keep 4.  Part of the argument in favor of 2 starting TEs was an argument to keep Tyree, despite the fact that he was a udfa and not drafted.  I'm also not a big fan of Quez as a starter, getting a lot of snaps as WR3. I'd prefer that TE2 be a starting position than WR3 be a starting position.

I was hyping Tyree before the Eagles got him on another teams message board.  My comparison was Logan Thomas.  Years before,  I was hyping Logan Thomas on other message boards,  when he was still trying to get QB jobs.   both Tyree and Logan are versatile freakbeasts.  The Chiefs have kept Blake Bell around a while.

My theory on guys like Tyree and Logan are that they have the athleticism, the freakbeast,  you can do things on offense with them that you can't with other players, because running QB, because athleticism, but they might not know how to actually play TE all that well.  Over time, they get better at TE.  I have no idea what Tyree has been doing at practices,  but in those preseason games,  Tyree had the best stats,  he made big plays when few others were making big plays.   Tyree wins on athleticism/freakbeast,  he wins on big plays, which are often a result of freakbeast athleticism,  but "doing all the little things that TEs do"  is more of a mystery because I'm not at practices.  One of the TEs has played TE so much, and got bonked on the head so much that he was retired from football or close to retirement.  Those years of playing TE and getting bonked probably led to some greater abilities at the finer points of TE play. 

The fact that Logan and Tyree were not TEs (Logan was, at times, in high school) might keep them from reaching that superstar status.  I haven't been pitching that Tyree and Logan's freakbeast athleticism is going to make them superstars.  But the RAS does allow them to make superstar plays. The lack of experience might also cause errors that superstars wouldn't make.  I want those players, I think that increased experience would cut down the errors, and there's a higher ratio of superstar plays to errors over time.
