I am not a huge Sisposs fan, although I think the Super Bowl failure may have been residual from his injury.  

There was a punter I really wanted as a UDFA a couple years ago when the Eagles lost Cameron Johnston to the Texans.  James Smith.  Titans signed him as a UDFA but he didn’t make the team.  Went to the CFL.   Howie brought him in for a tryout when Sisposs got hurt but signed Kern.  When Kern was choking, brought him in for a tryout again but activated Sisposs.  Smith was amazing at the University of Cincinnati.  Only one touchback in his senior year and that was against my Cougars.  Great directional kicker.  46.2 net.  In the CFL 44.2 net.  But he isn’t playing in the NFL despite numerous tryouts.  Scouts understand what to look for.  Punters aren’t a dime a dozen and it’s an easy position to have not quite good enough traits for the NFL.  Sisposs won’t last forever but Anyone isn’t good enough.

I trust @FranklinFldEBUpper  Maybe read his analysis sometime in the Special Teams Blog.  There are nuances to punting we don’t always notice and don’t show up in the stats.  Handling snaps, even bad ones.  Where the ball is dropped and the foot connects.  How long between snap and kick.  Direction and placement.  The "English” on the ball. Think of those golfers that can make the ball sit instead of bounce and how it bounces. (Franklin was showing hang times recently and mentioned Donnie Jones ever decreasing hang time.  Thing with Donnie was his English was so damn good, the hang time wasn’t as much of an issue.)  Yes, hang time matters but most of us learned that from announcers talking about hang time.

My issue with Sisposs is consistency and I am pretty sure Franklin knows what I mean.  But you want an idea of his eye? When watching Zentner and Sisposs this year, who first noticed the difference in time to punt from snap.  Franklin did.

Playing little league for one of those extremely stupid compeitive coaches ruined the sport for me.  Because I wss a little guy, he thought he could build my strength by making me hit a tire all batting practice while everybody was having fun doing the only fun thing in the sport. 

Thus. I only care about the sport as it relates to the Phillies

I wouldn’t doubt there are other skeletons there to be unearthed
