Seems even the Titans don't trust Edmunds.

Can you blame them?

I didn't watch the regular season games, so I ask this with all sincerity.  Does Casty always look so bad at the plate?  I mean the mechanics, the swings, the half assery of it all.  I mean holy amazeballs, he looks like ish.  How in the hell did he hit anything ever?

He's a hacker, but it works for some people.  Vladimir Guerrero was the ultimate hacker and hit .318 for his career.  Hackers tend to be very streaky, though -- which we saw with Castellanos.

I love this sport as I think you are wrong lol.  Cincy gets a big win.

So he DOES swing like that.  Yikes.  Honestly when he golfs at crap outside the strike zone all I can think about is there must be 50 guys you can get that can do that.  And they don't cost the same.

Bye Casty. Bye Kimbrel.  Bye Nola (prolly can't afford you).

If I'm the Eagles, I'm offering one of Slay or Bradberry plus their 1st and change. With Byard here now, they have 3 players over the age of 30 in the defensive backfield. Getting better and younger by nearly a decade would be huge. He's a young 23 and will be turning 24 right around the draft.

I've said it a lot but Howie's track record drafting CB is pretty bad. Same with his usage of late round 1sts.

Everyone is "bad” at late firsts — the NFL hit rate is about 40%.

Agreed that I would pull the trigger on our first for Surtain. I might keep all our CBS though. Bradberry in the slot and depth for the stretch run. Not sure what else it would take — maybe a 2025 third or something along those lines?

A 2025 3rd? Lol

Surtain is often regarded as a top 3 CB in the NFL if not top 2. He will command multiple 1sts and more.

Who was the last non-QB to command multiple first round picks?

I guess Ramsey got two firsts and a fourth. But the Rams also overbid a lot, so it would likely take less.

Jamal Adams comes to mind, probably because IMO he's the most overrated player in the NFL.  SEA would want a do-over on that trade.

I thought about it and Ramsey got back to back 1sts and a 4th.

I think it would take less than that because the Rams were handing out first rounders like they were candy. Maybe our first and a the saints second?

That was also at a time that CBs weren’t making the money they are today. That’s going to be around the same price for Surtain I would imagine.

Give them a 2024 RD1 pick and a 2025 RD1 pick.

Because they are both going to be Pick 32 in the round!

Surtain is also:

23

#9 overall

still has a year left on his rookie deal plus a 5th year option.

And he’s been everything they could want him to be. I honestly don’t think he gets traded because it’s not going to make sense for Denver to do it unless it’s a kings ransom. He’s perfect for them to build around.

I hope you are right, but San Fran at home with the boy wonder out, I think they play with a little something extra.

How often do teams who are contenders trade or demote one of their team captains?

I dont think we even need to consider a trade for Surtain at this point. Slay isnt getting demoted or traded.

I read Jerry Jones is at his home office waiting for Denver to call with an offer.

I don't think Slay nor Bradberry would be enticing.  They would want picks picks picks and a young player.  Not an old CB owed big $.

If they made that trade I don’t think Slay or Bradberry would be sent. Bradberry would move to nickel and Slay would be released/traded next year to make room to extend Surtain. Even then, I don’t see it working financially. Fun to think about though.

Thats maybe not a bad idea. We have a limited sample of Bradberry in the slot and Im not sure thats a very effective place to play him. I guess it could work for a half a season.

Even that being the case- you have to wonder how his attitude will be towards being demoted to the slot, as well as Slay's knowing his replacement has just been brought in.

Sometimes Id say- who cares about feelings you have to look to get better. But I just think as a team that expects to be a super bowl contender you may make improvements where possible, BUT without upsetting the locker room morale. I dont think you mess with a star CB trade right now.

Yeah it would also mortgage our chance to get a Lane Johnson replacement. It’s not happening.

Interesting note from Kempski that Eagles are trying to trade Penny

His draft position doesn’t really matter at this point.

He’s a young elite corner.

He plays a tier 3 position if you’re talking about building a team (tier 1 is QB, tier 2 is OT or pass rusher).

Has 2.5 cost controlled years left.

I think the bigger issue is that the eagles first rounder is so likely to be very low. Tough to build on a pick in the 28-32 range.

Eagles have 2 second round picks this year, including the Saints. We could trade up to around #26 overall with them. It’s also a VERY deep OT class, so the Saints pick alone might be enough.

Ramsey was only 25 when he was traded in that huge deal
