No way we get Surtain, he's too costly. More likely we get someone on the younger side who's really performing from a team not doing well, and I know that sounds like Surtain, but someone who won't cost multiple 1s. Maybe Jaire Alexander? He's been injured but the Packers aren't going anywhere and we might be able to get him cheaper and he's 6 years younger than Slay.

I have no problem giving up a 1st and maybe a 2nd, but they will want another first as well. We agree that's too expensive. That DL can make a lot of CB look better. They don't need to have the best one in the league.

Feels like the defense is starting to hit it's stride even with the injuries. Desai has these guys playing good football. Nice to see the progress. I figured he would start doing more exotic looks and schemes as the year progressed. Now he has another toy with Byard. Now time for the offense to get healthier and start making more strides to dominate. When Cam comes back things should get interesting on that side of the ball again.

D is certainly exciting.  D Line is insane.  More pieces coming back and added to the secondary.  LBs attacking the run like madmen.  Desai tries stuff. Disguises stuff. Designed a masterful game plan against Miami.  The Run D is bananas, yo.  The D is certainly exciting.

Run the ball a bit more, please, keep finding Goedert, please and get Hurts to get rid of the ball a bit quicker for my tastes.  Start to dial down the actual QB1 sneaks and designed runs.  Designed runs have been meh at best, so toss that crap out the window.  On the QB1 pushes, time to show it and option out of it and start to make the teams load up in the middle and just run C gap or something).  Experiment on their side of the field on 3rd and shorts, by showing it and then run a sweep to piss everyone off and make them waste TOs.

The problem with trading for Surtain, even forgetting the 2 1sts it would take, is that we get no cap relief by trading Bradberry or Slay.

It's much easier to trade Penny + for an RB or Morrow + for an LB.

Hot Take, but we’re better than last year IMO

We really did have a cakewalk schedule that we were lighting up, Miami is already a better team than we played all the way to the second game against Dallas. This D is better with Desai, we just need to settle in Brian Johnson and stop turning the ball over.

Weve been the better team in all 7 games. Jets got 4 turnovers off us and we still almost won anyway. Run the ball more, enough with the deflected passes, and we’re gonna beat just about anyone.

Hot Take.  That doesn't matter.   They just lost to the Jets, with Zach Wilson at QB.    Of course, the response will be... yeah, but they made a million mistakes in that game and still almost won.   But, that's the point... they ARE capable of those mistakes and ARE capable of losing.  The Jets game might have been a look ahead situation with Miami looming.   Well, don't look now, but the team is coming off a big win against Miami, and Dallas is the opponent on the horizon, it is definitely possible that they can drop another one.  Only one team in the history of the NFL went through the season undefeated.  Most of the time, better teams will win against weaker teams... and yet upsets happen.

And, I wouldn't say that this team was 'lighting up' their opponents.  Eagles won 34-31 over Washington.  That's hardly lighting any one up.  Eagles beat NE 25-20, that wasn't exactly lighting anybody up.  Vikings game ended 34-28... one score game.  Not a lighting up situation either.   And that's half of the wins before the Miami game.   And even that game wasn't exactly 'lighting up' Miami.  They went for it on 4th and 1 at their own 29 yard line, while holding a one TD lead.  That could have been disastrous had they not converted.  It was a tight game, right up until the last possession for the Eagles.  They really needed that TD to ice the game.  Up until then, a badly timed turnover and the game is tied.

I think the Eagles win, but find a blow out shut out as an unlikely possibility.  But, hey, if you feel that good that's awesome.  But, I still think it's a bold prediction.   Eagles-Washingteam games usually come out as one score affairs, regardless of the state of both teams.

Love this Run D. I'd say it's the best in the league.

@mattwill

Eagles - 31

Foreskins - 17

*Bonus - Jalen Carter has equal to or greater than 1.5 sacks.

You definitely will hit the over in 1.5 sacks on Sunday by 1pm

The same Desean Jackson who posted a photo to social media of a highlighted quote that stated, "Hitler was right." That same Desean Jackson? You're agreeing with the notion that Malcolm Jenkins is worse than that guy?

No, not the comparison I was making.

I agree.  Plus they will probably hold their water a bit in the game since next week is the Cowboys.

Yup.   @mattwill

Birds - 34

Bad men - 20

They better not be holding anything considering that they almost took an L the last time they played.

What about Melvin Ingram as a FA if we're able to trade Barnett?  He did have 6 sacks last year.  Obviously up there in age

Especially since I might make some boiled potatoes before gametime!  I definitely won't have as many beanbags dangling in my face as @Bwestbrook36 though.

Change your score. I have 31-17.  Only room for one weiner around here and I am it.  You can take 32-16.

That's true.  My gut goes the other way.  Their best player going so public might light a fire under the others on the team to put in a top effort.  I just am always wary of divisional games.   They took us down on MNF last year when it seemed they had no shot in that game too.

Either they collapse during the week and we pound them or they light a fire and the DL and Howell both play really well and get another of those tough close Wash/Philly grinders.

Reduce the turnovers and continue to get better in the red zone and it's really game over.

1 less and 1 more of each and we are much closer to blowouts.  And one more W too.

Give this man Sweat his props man. To be fair though... Sweat's not getting doubled like Parsons. But then again without looking I don't think Sweat plays as many snaps as Parsons either so may be a wash.

If anything I see them going off to build momentum.  They have to be feeling good, just need to not be smelling themselves.  That Jets L has significant value going forward.  A W is better but an L like that can help motivate and clear their focus.

Howell has regressed. No Edmunds to drop easy INTs this week either. Game shouldn't be close at all.

There is an argument to be made for Sweat as our teams DMVP this year.

Absolutely. I don't understand why him and Reddick don't get much love. They're both stars.

I feel like when ever the Birds go against a team that gave up huge sack numbers to date, that all of the sudden the game plan against the Birds changes and the QB ends up getting the ball out under 2.8 seconds.....  limiting how much impact our Dline will have.

It happens all the time. It's like the other team realizes they cant go into the game against the Birds with the same game plan that just had their QB sacked 9 times or he will be on a stretcher by half time. SO I am not expecting the Birds to feast with sacks on Sunday,

I am expecting Wash to have a very creative short/quick passing game and a bunch of moving the pocket plays, as well as lots of jet sweep motions and a reverse or two with at least one or two gadget plays like a backward pass to a RB or TE who then tries to throw downfield. This on top of they will *try* to run the ball and stay consistent with the run even if it isn't having success.

Good chance the Commanders have a new center this week. No excuses for the iDL to dominate.
