I mean we had Fangio come in for the SB and got torched, then hired his understudy to run the same exact defense against the commanders lol. Any QB who can get the check down and crosser 5-12 yards will feast on us.

I have a favor to ask of anyone willing to help who has access to the video of the Washington game. On Braden Mann’s punt with a couple of minutes left in the fourth quarter, where does the ball actually land before bounding into the endzone for a touchback? Furthermore can you’ll give me the approximate hangtime of the punt?

For some reason, I had a lot of difficulties with the punts and kicks in this game, and this one was particularly troubling. I have an estimate but I don’t feel particularly good about it. It is a very good punt that appears to land somewhere around the ten yard line. But I can’t tell if it lands at the eleven or the seven or somewhere in between. There’s also a chance that I’m actually looking at a second bounce rather than the first and that it actually landed further upfield. And if it lands on the fly as deep as it sometimes appears, the hangtime could be historic, which is doubtful.

Thanks in advance.

Happy for Raiders fans. They’ve had many terrible coach + GM combos but this one was taking them nowhere.

Their next GM + coach have to hit.

Am I crazy for not being moved at all by the 49ers getting Young? Sure he's a good player joining a good defensive line but I have the utmost confidence in our starting 5. They can handle them, IMO.

They have no QB and no OL and they added a dude to an already stacked DL. He doesn't move the needle for them at all

@FranklinFldEBUpper

It looks like it hit right about the 6 or 7 yard line before bouncing into the endzone. I clocked hangtime at 5.22 to 5.33.  It is hard to see with the sun and shadows. I watched it on the all22 like over 10 times and that is the best I can come up with.

With the hair cut, that actually looks like Mark Davis.

As best as I can tell from the All 22 the punt landed on the 9 yardline bounced to the 1 yardline and into the end zone.  I watched it at both full speed and half speed and it appears that the hang time from foot touch to landing was 5.4 seconds

I thought it was at about the 6 or 7 at first, and the shadows do make it difficult to see.  Running it at half speed helps some.

Thought the punting has been ok recently , certainly nothing to complain about with ST ?

That remains to be seen.  Cousins dropped back like 45 times against their D and they came up empty.  They may be stacked with name guys, but they have underperformed

McDaniels seems a little like 2015 Chip Kelly. Conductor of some of the most joyless, rudderless football I've ever seen but ultimately a necessary evil. Don't know if they ever would have run Carr off otherwise.

So after re watching a bit more of the game I was prematurely harsh on Dean

I still think he needs work In coverage but he wasn't as bad as I initially thought.

Glad you feel that way. BTW, on the deep throw where Carter got credit for rushing the pass, it was Dean who got to the QB first.

Anyway, I appreciate your comment..

When playing downhill Nakobe was good/fine, but I heard on one of the podcasts Howell was 8/8 when targeting him in coverage.

Perhaps off-topic, perhaps not...

Now that James Harden has been traded... is Daryl Morey still a liar?  🤔

The Raiders haven't won a Playoff game since the 2002 Super Bowl Run and only been to the playoffs twice since then.  One of the biggest reason is that there have been 12 coaches over that span.   I'm not saying McDaniels was good because clearly he wasn't.  But that's not a good formula to keep changing coaches this many times.  .

Their biggest issue is who they have decided to bring in to coach in the first place, not necessarily how quickly they pull the plug.   Is there one coach in that time that proved he was actually the right coach?

Bill Callahan
Norv Turner
Art Shell (reprise)
Lane Kiffin
Tom Cable
Hue Jackson
Dennis Allen
Tony Sparano
Jack Del Rio
Jon Gruden
Rich Bisaccia (interim)
Josh McDaniels

Their issue is their hiring practices much more than their firing practices.

I have no idea if that is correct, but wasn't Howell pretty much, 3-3, 5-5, 8-8 no matter who was targeted?

39 for 52.  He started off with a ridiculous streak of completions though.   He cooled as the game went on.

Podcasts are for opinions and opinions are like ( . ). Everybody's got one.

Myself included.

How one attributes coverages is a tricky thing. If a wide receiver runs a crossing route, is it on the LB? Was it man or zone? There was a play where Dean went to his right to cover a TE. The QB threw behind him to a WR crossing left to right and Dean reversed his run and made the tackle. Is that on him? Frankly, I don't know the answer.

To think we were close to hiring McD. Lurie has hit on varying degrees on every HC hire, but he dodged some serious self-inflicted wounds.
