Major advantage: Don't forget Siposs for a whole year over Kern. That is a major edge. Maybe the difference between winning Superbowl or losing one.

Yes, one.  @FranklinFldEBUpper who tracks every punt through the season in Eagles games made by both punters in the game took the time to review all of Siposs’ punts from last season.  His post of his analysis is linked below.

You're one of the smartest posters I've ever met...but you're too stupid to see...a lot of fans made up their minds about seven months ago.

I've read a few writers expecting some drop-off due to new starters/key depth pieces. So let's go head to head - by end of 2023, who's better at each spot vs. 2022?

RB: DeAndre Swift vs. Miles Sanders

RG: Cam Jurgens vs. Isaac Seumalo

DT: Jalen Carter vs. Javon Hargrave

LB: Nakobe Dean vs. TJ Edwards

LB: Zach Cunningham vs. Kyzir White

S: Reed Blankenship vs. Marcus Epps

S: Sydney Brown/Justin Evans/Terrell Edmunds vs. CJGJ

Backup QB: Marcus Mariota vs. Gardner Minshew

Backup LT: Tyler Steen vs. Andre Dillard

Backup CB: Josh Jobe vs. Zech McPhearson

RB: DeAndre Swift vs. Miles Sanders = PUSH, Swift is a better receiver, Sanders a better runner

RG: Cam Jurgens vs. Isaac Seumalo = Seumalo.  Something to be said for experience.  Also, Jurgens might be playing a little out of position currently.

DT: Jalen Carter vs. Javon Hargrave = Hargrave.  Not a slight to Carter, but same as above.  Experience counts in the NFL.  Hargrave was a beast last year.  We can only hope that Carter comes close to that.

LB: Nakobe Dean vs. TJ Edwards = Dean.  Wishcasting a bit... but Edwards was slow.  Dean is not.  Edwards was bigger.  Dean is not.  So, we have to hope the extra beef up front can keep Dean clean and he can flow to the ball.

LB: Zach Cunningham vs. Kyzir White = White.  Shocker to some, I guess.  Cunningham isn't what he was, and there's a reason he was available on the street for so long.

S: Reed Blankenship vs. Marcus Epps = Blankenship.  I think the kid is just a flat out baller.

S: Sydney Brown/Justin Evans/Terrell Edmunds vs. CJGJ = CJGJ.  CJGJ's production will be hard to match.

Backup QB: Marcus Mariota vs. Gardner Minshew. Hopefully we don't need to find out, because I'm scared to find out.   Minshew.

Backup LT: Tyler Steen vs. Andre Dillard = Dillard.  Again, experience matters.  Steen might end up better, but for his rookie year compared to Dillard last year... Dillard.

Backup CB: Josh Jobe vs. Zech McPhearson = Toss up.  We have so little information.

We may have like 5 people in here who will defend Arryn Suposs til his grave. Thinking they are probably the same group who were hammering Jalen Hurts and on Carson Strong's jock. The guy flat out sucks. His stats are bottom 5 punter stats overall. Loser mentality, to say he isn't as bad as Zentner or Kern, so he's good enough. And that he holds and fondles balls like a champ. Howie has had an A offseason. When Siposs officialy gets replaced to whomever (hoping Gilliken), it will automatically be an A+++ and a hall of fame type offseason in upgrading this roster.

If Goedert has to sit week 1 that will hurt but it will be offset by the availability of Ward at least.

RBs this year gave more overall talent, penny is a really good runner, swift is a dynamic pass catcher and gainwell kind of started to supplant sanders in the postseason. Still curious if we get better at blitz pickup with them and pass pro

seamulu is better right now. jurgens could get there but seumalo is experienced and a very solid RG. Unfortunately jurgens doesn’t have that experience yet so likely some growing pains

hargrave at this stage is likely better. I think long term it’s clearly Carter. But last year hargrave had his best season as a pro. So hard for a rookie to match that.

love Dean but he’s yet to proven anything at the nfl level. Don’t think edwards is some absolute stud at linebacker but his best year might have also been last year. I do think Dean has the potential to be better. But as of today that’s an unknown.

Think white and Cunningham is likely a push.

I’d take Blankenship. I thought Epps coming into last year was a question mark. He played ok. I think blankenship showed he could be a competent starter and even make some plays.

id take CJGJ right now over those three. I tend to think edmunds is an average safety. Brown is a 3rd round rookie so asking a lot of him to just step in day one and hit the ground running. Like Evans but he has durability issues and really hasn’t played much over the last 3 years to make me feel secure with him starting. Last year he played but only started 4 games.

Mariota but i don’t think it’s by as much as they thought when signing him

I’d take dillard. And i didn’t love dillard. I think steen has a chance to eventually be better than dillard. But right now as a rookie he’s not.

I’d take jobe only cause i don’t think mcphearson showed a whole lot at Cb during his time here.

If DG is already injured and has to sit week 1 after not playing in the preseason it solidifies the need for a competent TE2. Not a Jack Stoll who can only block or a Calcaterra who can only catch. Jury is out there on Albert but DG is good to miss 3-4 games a year. They need someone who can not just fill in when he's out but fill in and play well.

Swift if he is healthy

Seumalo

Hargrave, but not likely for long.

Edwards currently, but Dean has a higher ceiling

Cunningham or Elliss over White

Blankenship and Epps is probably a push

CJGJ was a better opportunist, but not as reliable on the non-opportunity plays

Meh to Marietta vs. Minshew

Dillard, but not likely for long

Jobe

That is a surprise, but the appendix operation may be the reason.  Could be temporary.  Who knows.

They have DG insurance this year with Albert O as a receiver TE, Swift and Z in slot. I have to imagine there are more screen passes this year. More guys who can make you miss.  Looking forward to our 2 new coordinators making their own imprint. Clay should be on next  bus out of town and we are fixed. I would kick into end zones and punt out of bounds regularly with this group.

Has eagles vs bills in battle of the tailgates

Also apparently king agrees with me on the teams +1500 or more (meaning not chiefs, eagles, niners, bengals, bills and cowboys) that the jags are the pick lol

Albert O was about to get cut. He's shown nice things but to call him insurance for DG is a bit much. Hell, he might even be a healthy scratch because there's no way they dress 4 TE on game day.

I share your confusion.  There are only two game day elevations, and they are likely to go to the punter and the punt returner.

Agreed, with Albert O. For right now. But if DG gets hurt. He's going to likely be a number 1 receiving tight end in here once acclimated. Like him better than GC in that role. Stoll should stay number 2. He's capped out here.

For the money current RB room > sanders

Push, if Jurgens is the player they hyped him to be.

Hargrave, hard to replace his production.  Carter can grow into that type of player though.

Push, Edwards was overrated by many. Dean, I only hope for the best.

Push, both just barely above JAG's

Reed, wishcasting

I'll take youth, Brown is an intriguing player.  CJGJ was an absolute monster last year though.

Tanner

Dillard, no question.

Who?

They’re a lot like us last year. Good, 9 win team that made the playoffs based on a up and coming QB and a developing passing game. Then they went out and got a top 10 caliber WR (Id take Ridley over Lamb, Mclaurin, or Metcalf). Added more to their Oline and have been relatively healthy this offseason. Everyone should be ready to roll.

Jacksonville plays 10 games against the NFC South and AFC South. It’s not improbable at all that they go 9-1 or 8-2 in those games. Then they just need a 4-3ish record in their other 7 games and bam, #1 seed.

I think P is an obvious elevation.  PR, not so much. Hear me out.  Covey has been dealing with a hammy and it isn’t clear he is 100% yet or not.  Quite possible they elevate someone else in another role and roll the dice with OZ as PR.  STs don’t really get assembled until after the 53 so we really have no idea who received practice in the PR role since the close of TC when the Beats got cut off, as though they were reporting much on STs.  That said, at least two of the Beats reported favorably on OZ catching punts in TC.   Not saying this will happen, but what happens isn’t a given.  Heck, if Quez is having any residual effect from his hammy, they might even raise Ward and use him because he has shown to be a better WR than Covey.  The hammy and missed snaps may have not only impacted PR but likely also arrested Covey’s development at WR for lack of reps.

Yep. That’s the case i made a couple weeks ago that outside of the top six teams that we all expect to be Super Bowl contenders if I was taking a shot on a team that was +1500 or more it would be the jags. Their division isn’t very good. They are playing the NFC south. I would be shocked if Trevor Lawrence didn’t take another step in his development with doug. They’ve also given him more talent on offense. Would not be shocked if they are the one or two seed in the AFC.

Guys we got Phillies baseball today in SD with strahm!!!!!

Don't count that dbags prediction. Trolls don't count

Stop it. Siposs stinks. They literally cut him.  You want to frame it into this genius move rather than a guy who choked in the SB following it up with a bad camp. If virtually any team cut their punter today the Eagles would jump on that guy.
