Who ignores his awful performance in Tampa? Not I.  I have said it over and over.  I give him a bit of the benefit of the doubt against KC because I don’t think he was healthy but his kick was a line drive and the coverage on that return was pathetic.  (He also got some of the blame for the loss from me too.)  I question the STs coaching of both blocking and coverage. Lane discipline is horrid.  If you have the All22, put on the Ravens preseason game and compare STs blocking and coverage between the two teams.  Ravens were much better at both with the same amount of practices.  For a coach that preaches the fundamentals, Nick puts up with a breakdown of those on STs way too much to my liking.

Gillikin is good when he is on but more inconsistent than Sisposs.  Was at PSU (watched every game he played) and with the Saints. Watched a lot of condensed Saint games last year. Here is what @FranklinFldEBUpper wrote about his performance in the Eagles game last year: "Blake Gillikin punted six times for the Saints. He averaged about 43.0 yards and 4.14 hangtime. Only one (barely) reached 4.5 seconds. All six were hit outside the numbers. Definite "win" for the Saints on this one, putting the Eagles mark on the season at 2-13-1.”  (The "win” tally doesn’t sound like a rousing endorsement by him of Sisposs, and Kern.) But 4.14 average hang time with a 43 yard average was Gillikin’s best game of the year”.

Frankly, of the three the Eagles worked out, I suspect Gillikin is on speed dial as the first back up plan to losing Sisposs but he is just another mediocre punter with consistency issues.  Not clearly an upgrade.  I guess whoever the "five guys” are probably agree that we want better, not just different.  You seem to be willing to accept mediocrity as long as it is different mediocrity. I’m not.  I think the old adage better the evil you know than the evil you don’t know.  As to holds, I suspect that is significant part of what they look at as well as how they play safety on punt coverage.

But why do we keep calling Siposs a mediocre punter? Just about every site I have seen he is bottom 5. Puntanalytics is a little more favorable and he is bottom third of league. Mediocre is too nice here.

I think he should retire now because it's been a week and he doesn't have a job when every single battle has been decided. He's trash!

This dude is 100% my brand and if he was released instead of Gilligan or whatever his name was, I’d be on the front of the Hedley Hedonist bandwagon.

We held a lot of decent leads at halftime.  I think Hurts threw for almost 2,500 yards in just the first half of games last year - so I see the point here.

What's even crazier was it wasn't till week 9 or 10 that the Eagles figured out how to score outside of the 2nd qtr.

Extreme aren't you!? And Siposs won his battle too. Against Zentner. Who is on Texans roster. Lol. He's awesome! Gilliken had a real good rookie year. Nice coffin corner games and an 81 yarder on his resume. Siposs hasn't done jack. Looking for a bounce back year and growth potential. Siposs is 30 and is who he is by now. BTW never said Gilliken was a sure fire stud or a hall of famer. But better and more talented than Siposs..

The playoff game against Tampa?  The one where the entire team failed to show up?

I already said I don’t care for Siposs. I’m just not waging war when it comes to Giant Dewsh vs Turd Sandwich.

I for one would welcome an agreement amongst ourselves to not discuss the Eagles punting game until one of the following:

* a roster move affects the position between now and Sunday.

* the conclusion of the Patriots game.

Because it’s fn tiresome at this point.

Unfortunately Superbowl was decided by a terrible punt, so it's something real to talk about. Townsend would outpunt him again and be a liability for the Eagles if we ever get there this year. Can't settle for a bottom 5 punter this year. These stat nerds are the ones waging war. I am just wondering why they would defend that guy THIS MUCH, when it's obvious to everyone.

I like Allen a lot. Wilson is more intriguing than high conviction to me. Obviously he has impressive size, but I wonder if he’s almost too big?

If drafted, he would be the 2nd tallest wr in NFL history. Carmichael is the tallest if anyone was curious

I just signed up for stupid youth football coverage on Sunday

Please delay any game posting by about an hour.  Might be home by then.

Thanks!

I feel like I’m crazy because I just see no way a rookie DT, a rotational NT, a rookie rotational DE, a MLB whose basically a rookie and a guy whose going to mostly be inactive comes close to surpassing 10 combined sacks.

I think P is an obvious elevation.  PR, not so much. Hear me out.  Covey has been dealing with a hammy and it isn’t clear he is 100% yet or not.  Quite possible they elevate someone else in another role and roll the dice with OZ as PR.  STs don’t really get assembled until after the 53 so we really have no idea who received practice in the PR role since the close of TC when the Beats got cut off, as though they were reporting much on STs.  That said, at least two of the Beats reported favorably on OZ catching punts in TC.   Not saying this will happen, but what happens isn’t a given.  Heck, if Quez is having any residual effect from his hammy, they might even raise Ward and use him because he has shown to be a better WR than Covey.  The hammy and missed snaps may have not only impacted PR but likely also arrested Covey’s development at WR for lack of reps.

OZ for me as the punt returner.  And, he can actually play in the slot.

Wilson runs like a deer , always open and downfield , hence his 21 yard per catch

they list him at 6’7 bet he comes in a inch or two shorter .

Stop it. Siposs stinks. They literally cut him.  You want to frame it into this genius move rather than a guy who choked in the SB following it up with a bad camp. If virtually any team cut their punter today the Eagles would jump on that guy.

A bunch of punters were cut the other day... Eagles jumped on none of them.

And who has framed cutting Siposs as a 'genius move'?   It is a move they have made in the past to get an extra guy to the roster for a few weeks... not genius, but certainly not unprecedented either.

Was waiting for Mann visit. Okay, so we either get Mann or Gilliken. Nice upgrade, either way. Especially with the strong leg and flipping the field aspects of the game, which I think the Eagles need to prioritize with this offense.

If they don't make the move tomorrow they'll probably wait until after the 2nd game because the Thursday turn around is too quick to switch.

Braden smith is interesting. Was a solid starter for the colts a few years back. Didn’t stay healthy til last year. His pff grades the last 3 years have been  80.1, 80.6 and 75.5.
