Here's the post-game wrap up of this week's Predictions

@Iggles25 and @bbabraham had the closest prediction at 34-27.  @Mortimer and @pgcd3 were close behind.

To be fair Nick should have gone for 2 after the last TD. Still don't know why he didn't. Anybody know that logic?

Nope, Jefferson's 11-136 was the Destroyer.  Hockenson was a PT Boat.

However, if you can come back with a reply using a germane analogy, your rank could get promoted. 😀

Spoiler

Jefferson was more of an aircraft carrier.  Hockenson the battleship.

Jefferson provided the long range damage, but once they got in close, it was Hockenson with the close combat artillery that allowed for the amphibious landings to take place.

Well you at least have to give it to Captain F. Good call on his part.

You are right.  I'll edit my original post.

That analogy offer is still available if you want yours to be promoted.

This might be more of a macro trend in the league and a shift coming with how a lot of defenses don’t want to give up the big plays anymore. Hurts still connected on a few last night and you had guys like Tua go off last week, but this was an interesting piece. Makes me think offenses might be shifting back to more of a run-focus.

Maybe more so Mahomes and Tyreek Hill together.

Only Nick's hairdresser knows for sure.

With Quez dealing with a hamstring injury, are they going to elevate Covey or Ward next week? I would like to bring up Ward, he can just fair catch punts and he still has the ability to run routes. Maybe OZ gets more involved, I don't think he even has a target yet.

Devon Allen

For the 1st time since 2009, I had to miss watching part of an Eagles game live due to an unavoidable work commitment. I watched the entire 1st half and some highlights of the 2nd -- will watch the 2nd half later today. All in all, I guess my take is I'm happy to be 2-0 despite not playing anywhere close to our best. This mini-bye will be critical to adapting to what appears to be new offensive and defensive approaches.

1. Last year, guys were focused on stopping our run game and making Hurts beat them with his arm, especially in the second half of the year. 2 games in and that has completely flipped. Guys are playing back, taking away the big play, and trying to force Hurts and Johnson to be patient. Finally in the 2nd quarter last night, we adapted and ran it down their throats. From 16 called runs by the backs in week 1 to this...nice adjustment. Doubling up the time of possession and just beating teams into submission -- do it until they stop it.

2. Hurts needs to learn to take the check downs. It really wasn't a part of the offense last year, and running backs weren't part of the passing game. We are going to see 3 man rushes a lot and guys daring Hurts to be patient. The bad habit of running out of a clean pocket is coming back because he sees nothing down the field and the internal clock tells him to bail. Johnson needs to revamp and run more underneath routes.

3. Until teams change, we're going to be a run dominant team that takes the occasional shot over the top. If not for a holding call followed by a missed DPI, we likely would have scored 28 in the 2nd half. That'll work. So will 21. But we need to go back to more of the slants and quick throws we saw to AJ last year.

4. The defense...well, missing 3 of 5 starters in the secondary (including Maddox) was going to be a challenge. But OCs seem to have reacted -- screw the running game and get the ball out fast. Desai hasn't adapted...yet. Too much cushion from the corners. If Maddox is out for a while, I'd slide Bradberry to the slot and get Jobe on the field in nickel, and I'd sadly look to being back Josiah Scott.

5. Nicholas Morrow needs to play.

6. Jake Elliott is the man.

Wow.  Harsh ruling on the Siposs performance.  He forced a turnover and was pivotal on the 61 yard FG at the half.

Siposs' final two punts were very short, but appropriately so.  I'd have liked to have seen more distance than 40 and 44 on the first two punts that came from deep in Eagles territory.  He only gets an assist on the fumble ... and a second assist at that.  Morrow gets the first assist and Evans gets the goal.

double/triple teamed nearly every play. The one he made at 11 seconds was brilliant.

Wow.  He was doubled more often than not.

15 double teams (beat one time for the TFL)
2 chips from the back
9 solo blocking.

Looks like Vikings adjusted to him as the game progressed.  Early on, the center was giving help to the right offensive side, while Carter was lined up on the right defensive side.  So, sliding protection towards Cox.  As the game progressed, the center started doubling the side that Carter was attacking from on many plays.

Jefferson might have been the destroyer to his own team with his fumble into the end zone. After that play the game completely flipped

Yes.

Looks like Carter was drawing quite a few double-teams after the first half dozen snaps.  He did a very good job of creating penetration and blowing up a few plays.  Needs to work on his balance a little bit, though.  There are a few plays there where he's leaned forward enough, the OL just lets him fall forward and off balance.

I mean...how many passes did he have dropped in week 1 though? I can't remember how many were "deep".

The last two were all about hangtime and making sure the coverage units were in place.  I give him a solid score on that.  Those earlier kicks...  he was working on a time delayed fumbling ointment to put on the ball to ensure a fumble at an advantageous moment.   And from his early research the longer the ball travels in the air, the less effective the ointment is.

Definitely.  He has to stay on his feet more.

The more I watch Jalen Carter the more I can't believe we got this guy. The rumors of him taking plays off, the performance at his pro day, the whole street racing thing, I thought what a waste of pick with bust written all over it...boy am I glad he's proving so far that he can play. This kid literally is out muscling opposing offensive lines and dominating. He has showed in just 2 games how strong he is, dare i say almost Donald like..

Also, I am 100% convinced they held Swift back in NE to save him for this game on a short week.

On top of that, it seems he and Davis are bringing out the best in each other. The year 2 jump in Jordan Davis has been awesome.

That whole DT unit is really something to watch. It’s revitalized Cox and turned the clock back five years for him. They’re all feeding off each other.

Yup. That said don’t see swift getting 20 touches routinely. I don’t think he’s durable enough for it. I’m guessing he’s usually more around 13-15
