A starting CB trio with a combined age of 100 would be fun

@BigEFly You asked about the Vikings RT and yes, he handled Reddick fairly easily. It was clear to me that Reddick couldn't use his right hand at all.  He never tried his patented push-pull with that hand and when he bullrushed it was with both hands. I'm sure Desai was aware of this because he called for Reddick to drop into coverage several times and there were other times when he basically stood up. He was mostly there for show, although he did have a pass defensed.

BTW, Nolan Smith was in for half a dozen snaps and did nothing. Well, he got his feet wet. He looked tiny out there.

Now that our weakest link Siposs has been replaced 😄, and feel decent about our linebacking core once Dean comes back. It is time to swoop in and make a trade for an impact safety. Time to grab that "killer" ftom Gannon in Arizona. Gives Brown a couple years to develop. Rumored trade to Jags in offseason was a 3rd and 6th rounder for Budda. That works for me. Almost equal to a 4th and 7th rounder. Got plenty of compensatory picks to make moves like this. Need to stabilize this secondary.

I'd be more interested in a NCB.  Easier to target and exploit than our safeties, all of whom are better at their position than Goodrich is at his.

For slot CB, I think they eventually will find a street vet who can help out there and will look in house with Evans, Jobe and even Bradberrry. Maybe do it by committee. Baker is so versatile and can play that position as well.Yeah, Goodrich doesn't look ready. Miss having a hard hitting tackler and a leader like Dawkins back there. He brings swag and leadership. Only 27...

Jurgens was up and down. He was strong in pass pro and his drive blocking and combo blocks were sound but there was a play when he pulled that he was late. I single it out because it could have been a huge play and it's perhaps unfair because he was fine on the other 76 snaps, just not this one. It's a counter-trey that Hurts might have scored on if he makes his block:

Jurgens and Lane pull to the left. Mailata and Dickerson wall off the Vikings DL. The only guy in a position to make a tackle is #58. That's Jurgens' block.

Was he slow or late?   There is a difference.

Could it be that #58 read the keys well and aggressively attacked his gap?

The spacing between he and Lane as they pull looks like the play as designed.

The injury updates from Doug used to bug the hell out of me because he'd say something like "it's looking really good" for a bunch of guys to play -- then none of them would be suited up at game time.  Always made me wonder if the medical staff was that bad, Doug didn't know what was going on inside the complex, or if it was an Eagles thing to snowjob the media on injuries.

We may get an indication next Monday night.

How about none of the above. Sure it bugs fans, but not releasing info early and limiting the release of info (HIPAA, those are medical doctors giving info to the team on their employees) makes strategic sense.  The NFL injury report only requires that they release body part if limited in practice, beginning traditionally Wednesday for Sunday games (Mondays a day later, Thursdays a day earlier).  (That idiot Florio would gripe about players not showing on the injury report that weren’t limited in practice.  I would never hire an attorney with his inability to read).  So as the team gets the film and game plans for its opponent that week, why give them any head start?

You will start to get an indication on Wednesday and know who is out, questionable or doubtful on Friday and sometimes, like we saw with Darrisaw this past Thursday, that may still be a game time decision.

Frankly, with all the gambling rules loosened and certain owners even having an interest in gaming books, the NFL teams should be tight lipped and only supply what is required.  They have to know that "morality police” elected officials looking for a headline are constantly a threat to their anti-trust immunities.  They threaten it all the time.  It is only a matter of time before some employee of a university or professional league is fired for releasing inside information to gamblers or book representatives.  That’s going to tarnish the university or league far more than what some players are punished for.   And the chance of some committee "investigation” has to have the NCAA and all professional leagues in fear of the impact on their business model.  Well injury information is the most likely of inside news to be sought for exploitation in sports.

The amount of people making claims like this is ridiculous. Reverse the rolls and we don't hear a peep. The hit on Travis Hunter was late but there have been WAAAYYY more egregious late hits in the game that no one bats an eye towards. You have a rivalry game between two schools who have both been in the dumps and are both finally playing good football. One is being touted as America's Team for some unknown reason. The other, no one even knows exists. Norvell was dumb to make the hat and glasses comments but if I totally understand CSU players having a chip on their shoulder. Doesn't help that coaches son, the Rolex flashing next Tom Brady, was caught poking the eyes out of a defender and most people brush it off or joke about it.

This hit by Major Wright was touted as a tone setter. It was early, he wasn't going for the ball and he absolutely de-cleats the WR.

That's a fair question and I acknowledge that you can't tell from screen shots and I can't capture motion. In my view, Jurgens pulled on time but took a false step as he passes behind Kelce. It's just a small kind of hitch but it was enough to make him late. The play comes at 1:29 in the 2nd quarter. If you have access to the all-22, check it out and tell me if you agree.

Where are they going to find this better QB this late in the stage? You're getting guys off of the street or someone off of another team's bench or practice squad at this point. I don't think anyone can save the Jets OL. They're the reason the better QB Rodgers is now rehabbing. Wilson is likely their best option unfortunately for them.

They'd have more luck with a Jacoby Brissett or Tyrod Taylor. At least they can manage the game.

So the Eagles just bought themselves 3 more weeks of a roster spot with Mann on the PS.

What's the rule for PS callups on a guy who has been cut from it? If Sippos is gone for 3 weeks, do his 2 callups still count or could he start fresh if they brought him back to the PS? Are the Eagles using the system to their advantage?

I thought the same.  Is the PS where ultimately a team can rotate average to lower than average Punters for a season, while retaining a better player on the 53?

What's up with Chandler Jones?

Barnett for Jones straight up

He seems highly strung in LV and not getting on with McDaniels.  May not be the wisest player to trade for.

The Jets would be more likely to sign Matt Ryan.

Cheaper than Cousins, doesn't cost them any more draft capital, he's been to the playoffs and a Super Bowl.  All he has to do is not make all the mistakes Wilson makes.

Matt Ryan is fully washed.  Cousins can still very much play.

Cousins is good just won’t win a SB, he is basically Dak or romo

Given the nature (field position) of Thursday's four punts that ranking really isn't terribly meaningful.  However, with that said, both of Siposs' first two punts were "air it out" opportunities, and could have gone for 10 more yards each from 44 to 54 and from 40 to 50 ... as long as they also got some additional hang time so that the gunner wasn't 10 yards away from the returner rather than right on top of the returner.

  • As it was, the 40 yard first punt was returned by the Viking for 20 yards.  I'll be interested to hear from @FranklinFldEBUpper what the hang time on that punt was.
  • The 44 yard second punt was the one where Sydney Brown was right on top of the returner, who let the punt bounce and Brown downed it.  Again, the hang time from @FranklinFldEBUpper will be interesting to know.
  • The third 35 yard punt was from a LOS of the Vikings' 49 yard line. It would have been nice to have been inside the 10 rather than fair caught at the 14, but the result of the 14 was not a bad one, certainly better than a touchback.  The 35 yard gross of that punt didn't help either the Gross average or the Net average, even though it was a good punt.
  • The 31 yard fourth punt was again from inside Vikings territory.  The hang time was good enough that Kelee Ringo was right on top of the returner, who still tried to make a return and was smothered immediately.  Good outcome.  Here too the 31 yard gross of that punt didn't help either the Gross average or the Net average, even though it was a good punt.

1) 3.85

2) 4.29

3) 4.22

4) 4.20

The final two were no step "get rid of the ball quickly so it doesn't get blocked" mechanics.

With the Jets about to be in free fall, wonder if Adrian Amos could be pryed away for next to nothing.

Not saying he'd be a savior, but would improve the room.

I'd bring him in for a late round pick.

Thanks. Question: do you think he should have kicked the ball out of bounds on the last punt?

At 1-1 I don't think the Jets are calling it. If they do anything, it will be trading for a QB rental for ROS. Ones that come to mind are Winston, Cooper Rush, Heinicke, Brissett, Dalton. Long shot would be Cousins if Vikes keep losing. Doubtful but never know would be Mike White reunion or Skylar Thompson - though I don't imagine the Dolphins are eager to do the Jets any favors.

I couldn't help but notice that, after the first quarter and with the exception of 3rd-and-long situations, the Eagles ran every time Minnesota went with the 3-3-5 defense.

As well they should have.

Minnesota basically went with two fronts: 3-3, and 6-1. They did a bunch of A-gap blitzing in the first quarter but the Eagles tightened their OL splits and that was the end of that.

I don't think they will sell at all. I'd imagine they find a veteran or hope that Wilson turns in to what they thought he would be. Far too much invested in that team to sell right now.
