Would love to see some stats for how Braves, Dodgers, Orioles performed in playoffs vs regular season.

Phillies should have swept, but honestly no complaints. In a 1v1 tussle, they came through seamlessly.

Yup, if the Phillies had a decent manager they'd have probably won the World Series by now.

What's the issue with the playoff format?

The team with the better record didn't win, which has happened many times over the years. Except it happened to the Braves so it's unfair.

I weep for them.

Obviously.    The issue isn't the format, the issue is their team couldn't hit when it matters most.    As Nick said in that interview, 'there's a difference between the regular season and post-season'.   Braves are built to win in the regular season.   Phillies were built to win now.

On a serious note, this is what I have been arguing all year long. That is, that unlike other sports, the playoffs in baseball are actually a different game altogether. By that I mean that the things that matter during the season are no longer in play in the postseason. The difference between a 100 win team and a 90 win team is probably that their fourth and fifth starter are a little better, they have better middle relievers, and they may have an extra "good" arm in late inning situations. But with all the off days in the playoffs, you don't really NEED a better fourth and fifth starter, a better middle reliever, and an extra good arm in late inning situations. It's your starting lineup, three starters, and a couple or three good late inning guys. And for the most part, the Phillies have that. And that is why they've always been legit contenders this year even when they were floating on the cusp of the playoff seedings in July.

Unless he was ripping 10 shots no way he’s plastered yet. That’s just him.

These reporters keep asking him non questions all night too

Baseball is not a 2001 Mariners sport. 116 regular season wins + 1 ALCS win gets you a tee time or a trip to Cancun.

The regular season is only played for the right to get to the playoffs.

The format has always been to win more games than the other team.

The Braves should suck less but their franchise is an actual blooper so they can't.

He did not manage the pitchers or the lineup well against Houston last year and it hurt them. He cost them the game Monday and almost again tonight leaving people in. His decisions are a problem.

He also needs to stop leaving cold bats behind Harper.

Trying to find news on Carter injury (hoping it's nothing). But hey Sydney Brown will play.

As a huge fan of both Reddick and Kelce, I couldn't be happier. I'm expecting a hell of a game against the Jets on the road.

Just gotta hope Jalen pulls through now.

It’s exactly what you said. In the playoffs particularly the NLDS you are likely going to face the top 3 pitchers in all five of those games if it gets to five games. I’m the nlcs 6 of the 7 it’s likely going to be the other teams top 3 pitchers. On top of it, you’re facing the best relievers on that team every night. There’s more off days. Besides wild card game 3, or lcs/WS games 3-5 you aren’t pitching 3 nights in a row. In the nlds  not gonna have Dylan Covey having to go out there and pitch an inning because guys pitches 2 days in a row prior.

The difference in the regular season with the Braves and the Phillies wasn’t all that much. They were 7 games decided by two runs and 9  games decided by three runs. So when you get to the playoffs, the Phillies are going to use their best bullpen guys. So you’re gonna have a much tougher time hitting off of them consistently, then vs guys like Dylan Covey, or Marte, who were forced to be in those games. They have no business being in those games except for the fact you’re trying to not blow out your pen by the time you get to October.

The difference between the Phillies and Braves in this series was Aaron Nola, Zack wheeler and Ranger Suárez pitching the way they are. That is really tough to beat when they look like that. Held the Braves to 3 homers and overall 8 runs in 4 games to one of the best offensive regular season teams in mlb history.  if the offense can get hot or just get 5 runs it is really hard to beat the Phillies with those starters and if the bullpen doesn’t implode.

This Diamondbacks series is very interesting. Dbacks like the Phillies lineup can get really hot or be really cold depending on what week it is. Last 4 games of the year the dbacks faced the white Sox and Astros and couldn’t hit a baseball. were awful. Now they are on fire. Feel like last year when the phillies backed in then played loose and hit. The Diamondbacks have gallen and Kelly. You’re going to have that matchup of Wheeler and then Nola. Two great matchups in game 1 and 2. Game 3 is going to be huge because the Phillies are going to have Ranger Suárez that’s going to be the better pitcher in that matchup. And game 4 you’re gonna have to use either walker or Sanchez and piggy back them with lorenzen. Looking at what the Diamondbacks are going to have to go with it likely becomes a bullpen game. I think this series is destined for 6 games.

See you wait til after the series is over to say something

Casty after Harper would've probably been good. Bohm and Stott were basically black holes.  Agree with the rest of what you said as well.  Dude gets really lucky until he doesn't.  Then there's Schwarber who was basically a free out every single time we started off an inning with the top of the order.
