Should’ve been posted yesterday (happened 10/13/2008) but was at this game. One of the best games I’ve ever been too. After the victorino homer it was mostly quiet dodgers fans in the stadium (some boos toward Braxton) some Phillies fans high fiving each other and excited to be tied. After the stairs homer it was a nothing but Phillies fans cheering. When that happened it was the moment i thought they definitely were going to win the WS.

The in game interviews are the worst.   I know the coaches are obligated to do them but they're so pointless and a waste of time.  You can see most coaches don't want to do it and are annoyed with it.

They can ask all the questions they want before and after the game.  Once it starts let the coaches and players concentrate on the game and not having to answer dumb questions with clichéd answers.

The fault lies with the requirement from the league or NCAA and the networks thinking that there's something to them that fans want to see/hear.

Good catch.  @Mortimer also has a Quez Bonus prediction that should be revised.

That's twice now, my Quez bonus predictions didn't come true.  Shocking!

Switch my bonus pick to 4 FGs for Jake Elliot.  Thanks.

Please let Ireland beat New Zealand in the rugby World Cup tonight.

What's everyone watching this afternoon? Flyers or college football? Easy choice for me as Penn St. Is playing UMASS. Zzzzzzzz. Go Flyers!

How does Penn State get away with scheduling TWO Division 1-AA teams in a single season? First it was Delaware. Now it’s Massachusetts.

I was embarrassed when Notre Dame scheduled a 1-AA team for the first time ever this year and Penn State does it twice without batting an eye? Shameful.

Why is it shameful?

UMASS is a D1 Independent now. Still a weak opponent.

Easy one today

Yeah, probably need something better than normal sunglasses - I only looked up for a few seconds and that sun is bright today!

Solid overcast here in S.E. PA. so no eclipse viewing for me. I remember on the last eclipse the advice was to not use arc welding (#10) lenses. I can see not using gas welding lenses - they're not very dark but arc welding lenses are pretty dark. Does anyone know why the recommendation to not use arc welding lenses?

So I looked it up. NASA says that viewing a total eclipse should only be done with a shade 14 lens or darker. Most welding suppliers only stock shade 8 to 13. Most likely your arc welding "lens" is not the recommended 14 or darker.

The Phillies and Diamondbacks series has  a ton of intrigued to it. First off, the last time these teams faced benches nearly cleared because they thought they were throwing at Corbin Carroll. So you got that going on.

Secondly, the Diamondbacks remind me a lot of the 2022 Phillies. they kind of backed their way into the playoffs with how they played towards the end of September and teams around them faltered even more. From a roster standpoint, they have a budding star in Corbin Carroll. They have some veterans around him. Streaking lineup that can mash when they are hot but also go ice cold the next week. They have a one to combination of gallen and kelly, which is similar to what Nola and Wheeler were last year. Their bullpen has been up and down all season and they seem to have figured it out once the playoffs started.

I look at the Phillies. They’re much closer to the 2022 Houston Astros in this type of series. have the experience. You got your ace in wheeler who’s like Justin Verlander. You got Aaron Nola pitching the way he is right now which is very similar to Valdez during the run last year for the Astros. McCullers is very similar to what you’re getting out of Ranger Suárez. And then your fourth starter maybe Sanchez, who realistically is very similar to Javier was for that Astros team. The Phillies bullpen has flame throwers on the back and back and throw a lot of heat. They are more capable and deep this year. Similar to houston last year. That’s how the Astros did it last year with their pen. And then you get to the lineup. they have veteran guys that can just hit veterans. add some young guys that can chip in when you need them too.

i think it’s a series that can go either way due to the starting pitching and ability to get hot with the bat. I think the dbacks are playing at their peak right now. imo the Phillies bats still could be better. It’s why i think there’s still another gear the Phillies haven’t hit yet which might be the thing that propels them. I know the Phillies won 3 of 4 this year in Az but prior to that it’s been a house of horrors. To me just got to win one on the road if you handle business at home.

Don’t agree with that at all. NFL playoffs are closest to the NCAA basketball tournament

I have an auto darkening welding helmet at work that I used last time we had an eclipse. I was fine. Overcast and rainy here in Central PA also, so nothing I can see either.
