Drooooppppppp. No one is saying let the man run wide open my dude. What people are saying is tripling Kelce and making someone else make a play was the right move in this situation with this particular receiving group who has a tendency to not make plays. Desai was right even though Roby horribly got burned ;)

Somewhat.  The point was that Chiefs’ receivers have the most drops in the NFL - meaning that those passes weren’t "givens”.

Is it really luck when MVS is trash?

Not luck. KC literally can't catch. That's their MO. It would have been more lucky if KC caught everything. Think about that. Especially in the rain. It was clearly a calculated move to take away Kelce as much as possible and make the other guys prove they wouldn't put the ball on the ground. Guess what they did.

I think you and others are trying to argue two things.

1) Make the Chiefs beat you with someone other than Kelce. I wholeheartedly agree with that plan.

2) That it wasn’t luck that he stopped a wide open pass. It was. We were incredibly fortunate.

Some people on this board can't comprehend that the plan was to limit Kelce at all costs and force the other guys to make plays. KC failed.

What you can’t comprehend is that both things can be true.

Seriously, we all understand the plan. I promise.

Natty boh actually. It’s white trash Baltimore. Just worked 8-8. And no it wasn’t 12 hours of filming @hputenis horror porn films

My biggest takeway from that clip is that we get to hear Peyton making insightful comments only to hear Eli whimper "yeah" at the end. Kinda parallels their skill level as players.

Eli continues to ride Payton's coat tails.  I wonder if the plan was to have Peyton do that alone with rotating guests, and he said, "Not without my brother."  And ESPN gave in.

@mattwill

Eagles 31

Bills 21

Albert O catches a pass. Eagles get 6 sacks on Allen

This.  MVS is a typical speed guy with bad hands.  They chose not to have safety help on him.  Part of that decision has to do with him not catching the ball well.

I'm... not so sure everyone does.

Thank you. My goodness. Is anyone arguing that trying to limit Kelce and make the others beat you was was a bad game plan?

He only has enough stamina to insert the tip now that he's snipped

#2 is a difficult catch when you're not a good deep receiver that tracks the ball well. Him getting open like that wasn't part of the plan but you live with him getting targets in that situation.

Given how often the KC WRs drop the ball... maybe he should have.

We tried that on the touchdown to Watson. Then Desai decided to go ahead and cover all the eligible receivers. That’s just good coaching to make adjustments like that on the fly.

I was making the very point last night during the game. It was obvious what the plan was and that they were willing to risk some 1 on 1’s with other receivers in order to take away Kielce.

It was a calculated risk for sure.

It was also very fortunate that it worked out the way it did.

And the Chiefs would take that matchup again down 4 late. It works both ways.

And we still got lucky that he dropped a perfect pass.

It was absolutely the correct game plan, but hell, even Kelce had some very uncharacteristic drops in high leverage situations.

Eagles had a good plan and some good fortune.

Perfectly sums up my thoughts.

And there were so many more to choose from.    Remember opening day, 1999... Dougie P drops a beautiful pass over the shoulder to Villanova stud Brian Finneran to seal the first game of the Andy Reid era and hold on to win a close game and run out the clock... only for Finneran to not catch the ball, knock it up in the air, and have it intercepted and returned about 30-40 yards setting up a game winning FG for the Cardinals.  Yeah, I was there at that game... with my wife.  First game she ever went to.     (Also, last game she ever went to.)

Nothing else needs to be said. This covers it perfectly.

I feel like this was a right of passage for us longterm Eagles fans

Let's not forget how much AR undervalued the position though, KC fans now know what it feels like....

"We're fine there."

What's both things.... luck? Luck is an interpretation. Making decisions based on analytics is not.

You believe in luck. Good for you.

Seems to be a reasonable plan.   My favorite was when they pretended like maybe they weren't going to cover Watson again... so Mahomes threw it a little behind him and Byard made the INT.

Including a fumble.   There was only one Swift in the house last night... and he was wearing an Eagles' jersey!

If that play happens 10 times, how many times does he drop that ball?

I’d speculate probably 5 times.

There’s nothing wrong with saying that we were fortunate or lucky that it happened to go our way on this one.

If the Eagles and Chiefs meet in the Super Bowl, we won’t have the rain again. We will have to play better in order to win that game.
