Purdue, the other GA Senator, too.  Amazing that both Senators from my state were insider trading on the backs of a freaking pandemic.

I'm not shocked. I would bet that most of them did, the two that were caught (so far) were just sloppy about it.

Personally I think that if you are an elected representative, you should lose direct control over stock investments. I have no idea how this is controlled within the corporate world, but something similar should be applied to elected officials.

They should be required to put all their market investments into a blind trust managed by a 3rd party. They can continue to contribute and set general risk parameters, but any withdrawal of funds would need to go through a process where the information is completely transparent and 24/7 available to the public.

I'm not a lawyer or a finance guy, but this seems like it would be proper policy

Like I said a month ago... Burr is not 100% loyal to Trump and chairs one of the most important committees in the Senate.

That may be, but throwing Burr to the wolves is an awfully big risk to take by the Trump administration.  Tillis is in a battle right now for his seat, and what happens to Burr reflects on Tillis.  And if they lose a NC seat, that's a pretty big get for the Dems.

It’s fascinating to hear of a sitting senator get served with a warrant. I truly home he and Loffler get jail time for their actions.

Confederate flags...in Michigan. Losers.

Good for them.  Guns and gun rights are a two-way street.  Blacks have a right to defend themselves.  A good conservative could argue that blacks should own guns moreso than whites, because of the added layer of racism when contemplating self-defense.  A good conservative would also point out that the first gun control laws date back to 1865, were in Southern states where slaves had just been freed.  Black Code laws prevented Blacks from owning guns.  (That ended up making them easy pickings for the KKK and lynchings.)  The Black Code laws were in conjunction with other Jim Crow laws specifically meant to keep the Black population from gaining any freedom or influence.

As scary as these guys think they are, or as scary as anyone portrays them to be, the honest truth is that they are not going to open fire out in the middle of the street in broad daylight, with cameras around.  That is much like any other legal gun owner.  Everyone would be very surprised if they acted irresponsibly with their guns.

It's interesting how this Twitter post flips the script.  Here we have someone with "No War" as their profile picture, with a proverbial fist in the air (via emoji) in solidarity.  It indicates that they understand that guns really do have a role in the world, despite the platitudes about ending war and all that.

The GOP majority state senate of Michigan shut down in fear of the armed protesters the commander in chief supports.

Michigan closed down its capitol in Lansing on Thursday and canceled its legislative session rather than face the possibility of an armed protest and death threats against Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

The gathering, meant to advocate opening the state for business despite the coronavirus pandemic, followed one April 30 that resulted in pictures of protesters clad in military-style gear and carrying long guns crowding the statehouse. They confronted police and taunted lawmakers.

The shutdown was done with little fanfare at the end of Wednesday’s State Senate session. About 4:30 p.m., lawmakers in the Republican-majority chamber simply adjourned until Tuesday rather than call the next previously scheduled meeting for Thursday morning at 10 a.m. The Michigan State Police are closing the buildings due to the coronavirus, said spokesman Lieutenant Brian Oleksyk.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday walked back comments made earlier this week, where he said the Obama administration didn't leave behind a "game plan" for a pandemic.

McConnell, asked about his comments during a Fox News interview, said that "I was wrong."

"They did leave behind a plan. I clearly made a mistake in that regard," he said.

"As to whether or not the plan was followed and who is the critic and all the rest, I don't have any observation about that because I don't know enough about the details of that ... to comment on it in any detail," he added.

McConnell's comments come after he appeared to blame the Obama administration for not leaving guidelines behind for the Trump White House during the transition in 2017. President Trump and his allies have made similar remarks.

"They claim pandemics only happen once every hundred years but what if that's no longer true? We want to be early, ready for the next one, because clearly the Obama administration did not leave to this administration any kind of game plan for something like this," McConnell said during a Trump campaign event with Lara Trump.

His comments sparked backlash from former Obama administration officials.

Ronald Klain, who was the Ebola coordinator for the Obama administration, tweeted that "we literally left them a 69-page Pandemic Playbook.... that they ignored."

"And an office called the Pandemic Preparedness Office... that they abolished. And a global monitoring system called PREDICT .. that they cut by 75%" he added.

I’m not gonna laugh. I’m actually slow clapping the fact that ANY politician actually admitted they were wrong about something.

Moscow Mitch is in danger of losing his seat and he knows it. Putin is going to have to work overtime to help his campaign.

I notice in NC, in Wisconsin, the fine, fine, right wing protestors, never seem to distance themselves from the Not sees. Almost like they don't mind them. Funny, huh?

Watching MAGA do that to themselves is food for my soul.

Security Researchers Say The Reopen America Campaign Is Being Astroturfed

Gun advocacy and conservative groups are responsible for astroturfing the reopen America campaign that has swept the US in recent days, according to research from cybersecurity experts.

DomainTools then examined the historical SSL certificates used for each of the firearms advocacy domains, finding Mr. Dorr’s personal domain and also numerous other domains associated with other firearm’s coalitions elsewhere in the US. For Chad Anderson and his colleagues, this "raised the likelihood for us that Mr. Dorr was the one running these campaigns."

In other words, a batch of the "reopen America" domains are the work of a single gun advocacy network. And something very similar is suggested by recent research published by Brian Krebs.

He finds other similar links. The domains "reopenoureconomy.com" and "reopensociety.com" are linked to FreedomWorks, a conservative group that has reportedly been holding virtual meetings with members of Congress.

Perhaps most alarmingly of all, Krebs finds that "Reopenmississippi.com" was registered on April 16 to In Pursuit Of LLC, a Virginia-based conservative group with several former employees who Krebs claims now work at the White House or in cabinet agencies.

The least shocking article ever.

There was the obligatory Bill Gates sign in there too! It's always nice when kooks, nut jobs, racists, and NSDAPs are all equally represented at a Trump rally.
