Getting a backup to Dean wouldn't be the world's worst idea.

I guess so. I just feel like we can afford to take a slight risk on a guy who has a chance to make a bigger impact. I’m not sure Dean is much better than depth either. The roster is pretty stacked though so I’m nitpicking I guess.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

I keep forgetting about Cedric Gray. Bring him home, Howie.

Surprised he's still there. I'd be all over him in the 4th round.

Is there a LB we can trade for? We have more than enough picks to do that today.

Pete Werner could possibly be stolen from the Saints coming off a down year. The Seahawks have a couple backers whom will be free agents next year. Maybe David Long from the Dolphins...

OT… I used to be able to copy and paste links to Twitter in the forum and the tweet would automatically embed in a post. That’s not happening anymore. What am I doing wrong?

At times the hyperlink says X instead of Twitter, just change that and will work.

123 and 132 is enough value to get the Eagles to up to 103 (3rd pick in the 4tth). They'd still have 120. I like the idea of moving up to the top of this round to make sure you get your guy. Then they can watch the 4th play out and take their BPA at 120 or maneuver a little more.

What about Johnny Wilson? Seems like more of a TE than a WR.

That’s big time project - can’t block, bad hands.

It amazes me how people can't understand how comparisons work.  It's a skillset comparison. It's not hyperbole at all.

It was a bad skillset comparison for the reasons mentioned. Barwin was clearly a better pass rusher than you gave him credit for. It's okay to be wrong about something, you should be pretty used to it by now.

We have enough picks to really hit the weak depth spots of our roster like RB, OL 8-10, LB5, WR6, etc.

I hope Jaylen Wright lasts to our next pick. Get another high-upside player.

WR 3, not 6 (that’s Covey).   The two vets are one year rentals coming off down years. The OL is possibly a starting RG.  I think Howie’s trades in the third were precipitated by Coleman and then Zinter getting picked.  Need interior OL depth.  And yes, #10 that Stout project.   RB is likely the #3 but possibly the #4 RB.   But ILB, they are all rentals, a broken foot and VanSumeren.  So in addition to depth, there are spots available.

Weaknesses

  • Missing the physicality to step up and leverage his gap against the run.
  • Runs himself out of his run fits, allowing chunk runs.
  • Struggles taking on and playing off of blocks to make sudden tackles.
  • Doesn't "feel" it and needs to "see" it before triggering.
  • Missed-tackle count runs a little too high.

Depth

We are extremely thin at LB and honestly there is not anything better in this draft right now on the board. He is explosive and a physical player that can play and has played at a higher level in college. Id take him as a good depth option that could pan out in a year or two and if he does not, its a 4th round pick out of the 3 we have.

Edge rushers are key. BG will be gone next yr

seems to look like a true 3-4 base D to me

So much talent left at WR, TE, and RB. I would expect 2 or even all 3 of those positions to be addressed in the 4th and 5th.

Eric All. Dropped because of injury.

At this point I’m looking at McGee and the UW linebacker, smart guys who have some potential and will contribute on ST.

This is Howie saying the obvious picks are off the board, now we're looking for diamonds in the rough.

Sell me that your guy has something special.

Guy you'd better impress, since he can fire you. 🤣

i'd love to be a fly on the wall for that meeting tbh

If they can get Leonard Taylor in the 5th, I'd be thrilled. He would have benefited from a year under Fletcher Cox but he has some special traits. If he can get it together, would be a steal.

There are tons of NFL successful LBs that are Dean/Trotter size. This is not a new trend, honestly they been around for quite some time now.

Your avg ILB is 6'0-6'2, 225-240 pounds. Im sure he can eat a Big Mac and get a few more pounds on if that makes people feel better. Some have said Cedric Grey. Grey is only 1 inch taller and 8 pounds bigger. Not to mention not as physically of a player as Trotter. I like players with the Dog in them.

Go back and check out Edwards when the Eagles signed him, too small, too slow.

ILBs need instincts and quickness more than speed and size. Helps if they can cover TEs.

Not a whole lot of room for edge rushers now but Mohamed Kamara is a guy who always stood out when CSU was playing.

My targets for today, my favorite in bold:

LB- Gray, Trotter, Magee, Njongmeta

WR- Walker, Franklin, Baker, M Washington, Coker

OG- Mahogany, Cohen, McCormick

OT- Greenfield

RB- Guerrendo, Wright, Laube, Shipley, Allen

DT- Gabe Hall, Briggs, Eboigbe

TE- All, Stover, Holker

DE- Kamara, Cedric Johnson

Please scratch out Franklin

Reminds me too much of Quez. Sure tall, fast but Trouble with tracking the ball and drops.

I do really like Washington and Baker though. Washington has amazing hands, Baker very high talent on route running with Alabama ties as well.

Malik Washington would be my 1B.

Gotta remember there are a lot of decent FA still available too to fill in gaps too.   We don't NEED to reach for any particular position going forward. Developmental picks are just fine.

You don't really know Hunt so don't try telling me it's a bad comparison.  It's a perfect comparison.
