A good BU is essential,,look at Foles. But I think the Pickett trade was a dumb move

As i said with few exceptions. I'd rather they got Fields than picket because he and Hurts are similar players. But neither has proven themselves for anyone to pay them starter money

There was this guy named Foles - you may have heard of him?

Picketts' contract is pretty cheap, it's that 3rd rd pick I didn't like. Then it dawned on me the long game as we may get that back in return in 2 yrs and hey - he may get to play and do well. Had wished we had more faith in McKee and just had to bring in some late rd/udfa types.

Why can't people read "with few exceptions" Besides Foles was a proven commodity

I liked what I saw from McKee also. Tiny hands Pickett is not that good. I think there are better BU;s to be had . I see a few late round QB's hat woul be a better option than giving up a 3rd,especially when Fields went for a 6th or something like that

We got a fourth and two seventh rounders back also though. A third round pick sounds more lofty than the pick was. It was the comp pick from Hargrave. After all the third round picks. Basically a pick swap. We moved down 22 spots PLUS picked up two 7th rounders.

What you have to realize are the financials involved also. Pickett isn’t even 2 mil cap hit for us this season. Plus have him for next season. Shew couldn’t win a game here. Mariota looked terrible. Both of them being paid much more.

Plus they both are still on their rookie contracts. So they can’t be paid starter money…even if they actually deserved it.

Chicago’s GM played his hand very poorly. All the QB moves transpired left the Bears holding the bag.

After Cousins, Mayfield, and Wilson found their respective landing spots, the Raiders seemed to be a prime trade candidate for Chicago. Las Vegas reportedly had interest in Fields, but signed Gardner Minshew to a bridge quarterback contract instead. The Eagles also called about Fields, per reports; it didn’t amount to anything, and Philadelphia later traded for Pickett. The Seahawks traded a series of pick swaps in exchange for 2023 Commanders starter Sam Howell. And the Cardinals brought in Ridder by sending wide receiver Rondale Moore to the Falcons.

Including the trade of Mac Jones, who the Patriots dealt to the Jaguars for a 2024 sixth-round pick, four quarterbacks under age 26 were traded before Fields.

This isn’t even mentioning Jacoby Brissett, Mariota, Shew, Lock and Darnold as options.

Or…this whole loaded QB draft class.

Or….Ridder and Sam Howell. Both are better QBs than Fields.

There are elements that Pickett could be a bit comparable with Hurts. I know…they aren’t of the same race.

One point I’ve been making all along: Why did the Bears have to trade Fields? They didn’t. Shouldn’t have traded him.

LMFAO I have no words for this BS

It's a prank... has to be at this point

Steelers weren’t going to trade Pickett supposedly. Steelers say Pickett refused to compete for the starting job. Which doesn’t even add up here really. He refused a chance to start…so he could be traded without question moving to a pure backup QB role? Pickett’s version is he was told Wilson was the starter. Whole different position backing up Wilson….or backing up Hurts. No shame in having Hurts be in front of you. That would be most of the league.

I can't understand why the Eagles FO puts so much into a backup QB. With very few exceptions, if you're playing your backup for an extended period of time you may as well be looking forward to next year

???    I look at it the opposite

We just moved back from 98 to 120... to get a dirt cheap option at back up QB.

I see it as minimal draft investment...and minimal $$$.

Correct. Which in my view makes Pickett a quitter.

Thar would be all of the league backing up Hurts in Philly....after the big contract.

Now... you put all new contracts on the table and ask QBs around the league to compete for starting spot..

 Different story.

For us...Hurts is the starter the next 3 seasons. No question.

Good thing the Eagles aren't paying starter money.

Very minimal investment all the way around. Sam Darnold netted a 2,4 and 6 when traded from the Jets.

That’s clearly not what happened though, right? Why would you believe a story telling you he "quit?” He quit on a supposed fake competition? Just so he could force moving here to a clear backup role? I just don’t even believe that story. Be actually believable if he forced a trade to a team where he had an opportunity to start.

For us we have Our Franchise QB in Hurts.

I’ve always viewed Pickett as a backup QB. Wasn’t one of those that were super high on him. We have two years left on Pickett. What’s wrong with developing him as a backup QB? I think it’s a good fit for him. I wasn’t high on him being a first round pick…but can see him becoming a backup.

I praise and bash Rosie all the time. He very clearly has been a large factor in driving the value of interior Oline. Big bucks to Brandon Brooks. Big bucks to Dickerson. Big bucks toKelce. All leading the market. Drafted Dickerson and Jurgens in the second. Could add Steen and some others into the conversation.

Very likely looking to draft another early in this draft. How he’s driving the market…he almost has to.

Yes, definitely a possibility as his agent could've been in talks with the Eagles' office. I just hope he didn't back down from competing.
