That you just don’t always just roster the three best guys overall. That I actually mentioned the thought of Gainwell not making the team because of this. Not because he wasn’t worthy of top three RB status. But because of having complimentary pieces. That for me it was clear Shipley can do everything Gainwell can…but is better. So wasn’t the case in TC. Obviously….Gainwell been with Siri the whole time. Not many rookie can beat a guy like that out…not in TC. But it was obviously going to happen…somewhere…even during his first season. So I was thinking if Shipley was even close in TC…..make the move. Have that third RB be the bruiser short yardage and blocker RB. That third guy in the RB room talk at wasn’t just a carbon copy but lesser…but another skillset.

April 4, 20251 yr Just now, cunninghamtheman said: We got Dillon for the exact reasons I mentioned last season. For the exact reasons I’m telling you now. Beat up the D some with a couple good physical carries a half. Let him block. But main thing is redzone weapon.
April 4, 20251 yr Just now, cunninghamtheman said: I’m saying we’ve been lacking Redzone weapons since 2021. Not because Goedert just didn’t get targets. Not because Smitty didn’t get enough Redzone jump balls. Because we lacked Redzone weapons. Our RBs since 2021 are all fairly poor options actually in the Redzone. Barkley is the best. But he really doesn’t have that Marcus Allen feel for the crease and the goaline.

First I don’t ever think Tush Push ban was a concern by Lurie. Think if they thought even close to 24 teams were voting against it….they would have really kicked up our defense big time.

No real evidence it was ever getting banned even. We got him for the exact complimentary back to our room I’ve exactly been saying this whole time.

Smitty and Goedert aren’t Redzone studs that Hurts just stole their ability in that area by hogging the ball. We’ve had to rely on Hurts as our main Redzone weapon. We needed that complimentary Dillon type back for another Redzone option. Hopefully drafts TE that rocks in the Redzone. Draft my WR Higgins at 6’4”.
April 4, 20251 yr The answers aren’t ‘ make up any reason’ …the answers are clear over years. Goedert good TE. Not a Redzone guy. Not a dependable durable guy. Not a reliable every game weapon to depend on even.

Really need to identify what any player can add to the team. If it’s ST and just be a few plays every other game at FB? That’s value. Gottta build a complete team. Having three RBs that are all similar doesn’t fill out team needs for every matchup. Having all the same type LB or S the same. Need specialists and guys that bring something else to the table. But... having Barkley at RB works for every matchup.
April 4, 20251 yr Saquan had the best RB season ever. But can’t we still point out these few weaknesses still? I feel like we should. Catching the ball with the game on the line? Not Saquan’s strength. Our team has been in big games. Gone to the playoffs every season. I rooted so hard for our 2021 team to just make the playoffs. We had no chance. But got that experience. Against the best ever in Brady. Saquan never had big moments with the Giants. Don’t even think Penn St was champs with him. He needs to see if he can grow and develop that piece of his game. Choked that ATL game. Stupid call by Siri. But now you can really look back and realize not just because Siri passed the ball. It’s that he chose to Saquan. Not real clutch. Not great hands.

Even that epic all time performance shouldn’t just be viewed with all rainbows and compliments. His main two weaknesses are clutch big moments and goaline. His huge thighs you would think could churn the short yardage. But I just don’t know….he failed several times. It was disappointing. Coach wanted to reward him with the TD. Like three moments he exactly earned it….and they tried…forced it even. But wasn’t working. Had no choice but to turn to Hurts to finish.
April 4, 20251 yr Saquan isn’t horrible at goaline. Not like he never got it done. But I’ve identified it as not his strength.

He should be taking guys that use similar offenses to what we have now,not comparing to guys we had 12 years ago But.... you take a skill guy...and work your offense around that guy. IMO our offense is simple.... we run the ball... we have a running QB who thrives at protecting the ball and short yardage accuracy. We have a stud RB and a stud OL. We have a stud #1 WR and a #2 WR ... That is the skeleton of the offense...those things.. you can bring in the other pieces and use them for specifics according to what they bring. Why...because they are complimentary pieces. The icing on the cake...whatever flavor you want. The tinsel on the tree. The napkins at the wedding. So fit them in with what they can do for you.

We have the biggest strongest Oline. Modern Ds are smaller and weaker. They all zigged together and us and the Lions Niners zagged.
April 4, 20251 yr Smaller LBs, smaller Edge players…CBs playing S….become predominant NFL D. Guys who can cover…Rush the passer. Big money…big targets through draft…and team building. Nickle is every teams base D.
April 4, 20251 yr 1 hour ago, cunninghamtheman said: That’s why you, No Mas and a few here freaked out because I suggested not keeping Gainwell if Shipley appeared he’d obviously surpass him during the season. Have that short yardage physical back as the third RB. You both just couldn’t get past the thinking of just third best at the position should make the team. That really isn’t what’s needed. Especially the way the game has evolved. Need so many specialists. That fourth S needs to be good at deep coverage. Or zone ….or whatever you feel the starters weakness maybe is. The lesser overall player can be the better option. Nobody freaked out....you were obnoxious about Gainwell not being the 3rd RB...when he was clearly going to be the #2 all along. You are overthinking the " specialists " part...but that's your thing. The players bring different skill sets...that's natural. But we aren't using 10 string at each position with 10 different skill sets. The top guys make the roster and you work with that.

April 4, 20251 yr Our guys are workout warriors. Football is a game of endurance. Stamina and physical levels. We’ve been built to have this advantage. Best Oline coach. Nobody invests in Oline like we do. Draft…FA…Trade…we have obsessed over Oline. But we not just got technical finesse Oline guys. Not slack athletes either. We have the biggest strongest workout elite best of the best. What moron builds a team with that and doesn’t utilize that advantage? You have the baddest and strongest….but you’ll go backwards all game eto th those guys? Dumb

Lots of success for the Lions and the 49ers.... we have 2 SBs....3 trips to the SB.... 8 playoff wins. Made playoffs 7 of the last 8 years. Combined not sure those 2 teams add up to us in any of those categories???
