Actually Gainwell was always forced in as Siri’s guy. Being an Eagles fan I had assumed you watched our team beyond just last season. Siri made Gainwell the starter to begin 2023. Only benefitted because Gainwell got injured that first crappy game. Swift takes over and flourishes. I’ll be here to remind you of Eagles history whenever. Even if it isn’t so ancient only being just two seasons ago. I’m so aware because I dealt with two foolls believing Gainwell was deserving to start the whole time.

Fake news- that Gains was RB1 and that ANYONE "believed" he was the #1

Let’s see if we can discuss the following without the polarization and smack talk.

From Kempski's pre-season All-NFCE offense...

Quarterback: Jayden Daniels, Commanders

This will be an unpopular selection among some Eagles fans, given that Jalen Hurts was, you know, the Super Bowl MVP. But in my opinion — don't know if this is a "hot take" or not — Daniels dragging the Commanders' far inferior roster to the NFC Championship Game was more impressive than Hurts winning it all.

Hurts played behind the best offensive line in the NFL, he threw to an elite WR duo, and he had the best player in the league standing next to him in the backfield at running back. And when things didn't click offensively, the Eagles had the best defense in the NFL to bail them out. Hurts absolutely played well, too, but it's undeniable that he had the best quarterback situation in the NFL, by far.

The best argument for Hurts in my opinion is that he has shown up in big games. He's 6-3 in the playoffs, 2-0 in NFC Championship Games, and 1-1 in Super Bowls, with a strong argument that he was the best player on the field in the one he lost. He is very clearly a top 10 quarterback.

But Daniels might be special. He had one good receiver, a mediocre O-line, he led his team inrushing, and his team had a below average defense. He was forced to put his team on his back week after week and make a bunch of plays to win games.

A lot of my decisions in this exercise came down to,"Who would I rather have?" And in this case, it'sDaniels. 🤷‍♂️

On a side note, Dak Prescott shouldn't get any real consideration here this year. The Cowboys were 3-5 in Prescott's starts. He threw 11 TDs vs. 8 INTs before being lost for the season with a hamstring injury. That said, I do think he's a candidate for a bounce-back season.

I said earlier the Wuss(Washington Wuss because they caved to the name change, but otherwise we avoid politics here) would be our main competition for the division. Daniels is indeed a hot QB who made a nice run with little to work with. Dullaz (Dallas) will still be mediocre as long as Jerruh is pulling the strings, so Kempski seems spot on here. The Gnats(giants) continue to stink, they are trying to become the new Cleveland as far as making moronic moves consistently. I miss Kempski's stick figures

No No No No Sirianni never never never made Gainwell the starter to begin 2023. The RB 1 in 2023 was Deandre Swift … Philadelphia boy from St. Joes Prep come home. Once again you are using opinion rather than facts. The box scores from the first two games of 2023 are copied and pasted below. Read them and weep.

The New England game to start the season is the one where Ham has his stick up his arse regarding Gainwell. Because he was in to start the game...so he thinks that made him a clear #1 RB.

But put 3 things into context.

  1. Swift was supposed to be fragile, not a guy to give a lot of carries

  2. Swift was new.

  3. Go look at the play by play to start the game before Gainwell got hurt on the 2nd drive...where they went up 17-0. Look at his stats.

Was always a committee with Swift being " lead" but not being bell cow. But game 1 was so important to Ham.

IDK tried to find a mention of this. I believe Ham could be correct because I recall more arguing about it. I think Siri DID name Gains as the starter which was only a "title" . We knew Swift was RB1, but I think Siri named Gains as the proverbial "starter". You can name ANYONE you want to be the "starter" I am not a comp whiz so you guys could probably find this. I DID try. Like you know Siri could name Shipley the week 1 starter, just a title, but I also know Siri tries to make all his players feel good. IDK I just remember something about this, but there was never a mistake that Swift was #1

OK you remember it too. Ham is like a Bot fly, he will find a small place, bore in and it's a bish to remove him from his spot. Clearly anyone with a brain knew Swift was RB1, which means Ham has no......well NM

Joe, all this was because we didn't overpay "that special talent"🤣

When did we play New England in 2023?

Gainwell took the first reps.... for some reason that was important to Ham. The fact that he did great the series where he got the ball.. before getting banged up and then sharing the ball...and Swift struggled that first game.. apparently got skipped over.

The idea was always to run Swift more, but not too much...Gainwell getting his 4 or 5 carries with a couple catches... and the third guy, I forget his name, but he always did well against the Giants ...was supposed to be a factor as well.

That 3rd guy sucked...and the RB we picked up from Seattle didn't contribute.

Plus I will say... Duce left... the RB rotation wasn't good. It seemed each guy was in there too long without rotation during drives to keep them fresh. Was really an awful job of using everyone committee style.

Looks like I have to eat crow. My query to the internet for the Eagles 2023 schedule gave them to me in reverse order, and I missed that. So the first two games presented were not the first two but rather the last two. Ham, you have my apology. I’ll go back into the pregame and postgame commentary to give myself a better education. C

I couldn’t )can’t still) imagine going to all the effort to trade for Swift and then not start him.

But you can simply still go look at the New England game...and tell me what do you see. Do you have an issue with the results Gainwell produced at the beginning of the game before he got banged up on his carry right before they scored a TD to go ahead 17-0. Look at the rest of the game.

The results when they went a different direction.

Ham was complaining right from the start. Even after those results.

The next few weeks when Gainwell was banged up ( he still played) Swift took more of the early down load. Which was always the idea...but for some reason Ham needed a proclamation written with a feather fountain ink pen... that Swift was the starter.

Otherwise....here is the link that Gainwell got special treatment from Siri....

Great read.

Again though....while Swift was supposed to be the lead... it was never " starter" and " backup " in a classic sense that we saw this year. Because Swift isn't a bell cow and can't protect the QB.

And that's the debate of paying a RB. Ham just wants to spend money...he thinks that's always what cap space is for...just pay anything.

For me...I'm not paying a " starting " RB... I'm paying the RB that transcends the position as a weapon. There wasn't one available until Barkley.

Ham is obsessed with SF and the moves they made.. John Lynch would be his GM, but he is too afraid to answer the question directly and give a name when asked who would be better than Howie.

So CMC is his guy. We should have offered more for CMC....that's what he won't say how us normal humans communicate....

" the Eagles should have traded for CMC" 7 words for normal humans....Ham will make 25 posts indirectly saying that.

Then because a few of us said we wouldn't pay Sanders or Swift....that means we won't pay the entire RB position.

But it all leads to... " Howie isn't that good"

Or " I called it as the only one...etc."

That's how you got " Matt is suggesting that they triple team Dotson "

It’s strange that that New England game is totally wiped from my memory. The Gamebooks clearly show it as it was, but I clearly have a neuron skip. What I remember is 175 yards and 130 yards for Swift.

Btw... the stats don't tell the story.. go in and look at the drive summary...so you can see the plays.

You see that first drive where Gainwell was doing well... then he got banged up and they went away from the run... didn't finish great at all.

Week 2 no Gainwell due to injury and Swift had to then go in and take all the carries. Boston Scott was the other guy who basically gave zero that year. Not sure he is in the league anymore. 🤔

You missed it again there MattyWill. Week one the season before last Swift I think only got one touch. It was Gainwell named starter…but he got injured. So turned out to be decent luck actually because then Swift started week two and wasn’t to relinquish that position again.

It happened…as obvious as the talent gap should have been to see…Siri didn’t even split the load week one…it was all Gainwell.

Why are you guys arguing about things that happened 2 seasons ago

Ham, you clearly have a lot of very good football knowledge that can be a solid contribution to football discussion. But instead of discussing topics, you consistently want to talk smack. You have been watching too much Brandon Graham. If you eliminate the smack talk, like your Gainwell comment to me above and instead talk about how you think the evolution of the RB role in the roster has improved the team, you will be a much more constructive, much pleasanter, and more collaborative member of the EMB.

Try it. You’ll like it.

Yeah…why don’t we agree on the easy football stuff so we can jump the standards to at least rise well above this floor we get bogged down in for no reason.
