Top rushing team every season….they couldn’t think up AND install simple Playaction. Let’s put the dreams of brilliant O developed unique trick plays emerging from the two guys been here this whole time in Siri and Patullo(those two that in three seasons never even thought up Playaction).

YAC Creation plays. Unlike No Mas limited inside the box thinking….actually plenty of plays just in this one category to add in. Got a couple of RBs can get involved with these. Goedert has been our Go To YAC weapon. Expand his role. Even think Calcattara can add depth performing in this YAC area. Maybe not quite Goedert production…but it’s an area he’s actually one of the few TEs can also do it.

Return man potential in YAC Creation plays obviously. RB, WR….heck just a matter of time before DeJean gets a shot or two at it even.

You are not looking at the whole evolutionary picture. When Ceriani arrived one of the things that arrived with him in order to maximize, the value of Jalen hurts as a quarterback was the run pass option RPO. It was incredibly successful and helped us run right up to an into Super Bowl 57. But like so many things in the NFL people have film and they are able to come up with defensive schemes to cataract the latest offensive which RPO was the defense coordinators did a very effective job the 2022 off-season in coming up with ways to counteract RPO.

To what do offensive coordinators need to do they need to come up with something other than our PO because our PO has been effectively taken out out of their bag of tricks at her play action with a really good running back like Saquon to make play action really really effective.

We brought in this guy. Normally you’d think wouldn’t be concerning. Low investment player and all. In the 2023 O? Cooper has the entire route tree needed for our past O under Siri and Patullo…a Go and Post both. But most all optimism for this season on O I’m placing on those two O Wizards not regressing at any first sign of difficulty. Actually adding quality to the O playbook and scheme? Not any room in reality to believe we could even dream of much innovation…heck not very realistic to expect much more than just a couple plays being implemented in this season from Patullo and Siri.

Can we just add in like two passing Pick plays setup utilizing Motion? I know those so admire our O scheme in 2021-2023 just think I’m being really greedy here. But actually believe we could add in those two new pick plays off Motion in three…even four different alignments. Seems so very simple and basic fundamental O football to me…in 2025. Motion…moving the defenders into us just scheming our guys into having that schemed advantage.

Just asking for our O players to just occasionally be given any kind of easy created schemed advantages. Two receiving players, one in motion, moves defender(s) on the fly to gain just that half step for the actual pass catcher…with creating situations to take advantage of by the Pick creating player. Get the Pick actually being setup with the angle…and the target just anything….half step…heck even just be excellent to gain inside/outside leverage for our pass catcher.

Can get most any of these other O skill players involved in just these two concepts to be added. Calcattara, Goedert, Shipley,Dotson….lost belief in Ainias. His only reason drafted was to just at least contribute with simple YAC Creation production. Maybe returner depth. But can’t invest years into just trying to get a guy to develop only YAC Creation plays. Sure …tiny nuisances can be developed in quick reads in open lane to maximize blocking arrangements according to every varying situation. Mostly just thinking about the experience comes along with each different YAC Creation setup individual plays versus how the D is playing things each time. YAC Creation player alone isn’t enough to consistently work. Gotta appreciate the timing, blocking….just synergy of all involved to make these consistently productive. Got two guys going to block(for example)…but that’s baby rattle YAC Creation thinking…without much more specific nuisances and detailed plan of attack. Needs to be just simple expectations every play. Mostly what I refer to as that part of the O: Scheme. Installed in a scheme- each individual play—-coach who’s scheme it actual is—-defines everybody expectation for job duties according to every varying D to be faced. Then you know TE inline working towards the MLB…WR out front going for inside leverage blocking on the DB….blockers expectations and job performance is what makes these plays work. But more importantly is the expectation…the understanding…by all …of what’s about to occur. YAC Creator has to split second Hit It!!! Not just a guy scrambling looking like he’s playing street ball in a bad broken play. He knows what lanes are purposely being attempted to be accomplished. See…more than just a rigid playbook. It has to come alive in real time. So whole O reading the same things…just comes down so much more to simplistically everybody doing their jobs. Blockers expected by coach…IN SCHEME…going to attempt exactly a job duty. So returner doesn’t think…just reacts and goes. Even if a blocker doesn’t get his job done? That’s something the YAC Creator can see and identify that’s happening in real time…to adjust…at least a slight heads up.

Really just apply most all of this to Pick plays as well. There is an art and nuisances detailed specifications running these two types of plays. Can’t get flagged for illegal picks constantly. Can’t have the actual target attempting to be setup …screw up the setup. Targeted receiver too shallow or deep/bad angles can totally ruin the pick players setup to do his job…especially unpenalized. Same thing with YAC Creator setting up his blockers. He won’t maximize these plays…while jeopardizing his blockers into bad leverage positioning(like pushing inside on the YAC instead of outside expected by his blocker) easy way to get your lesser experienced blocking players into Holding infractions.

Yes No Mas…all Screen Plays I lump into YAC Creation plays. Also Jet Sweep, End Arounds and Reverses. Technically rushing plays in the stat box…but really just fit and apply all fairly similar together in Creating with the ball in a playmakers hands being designed and setup relying mostly/even entirely on playmaker gains after the ball is in his hands.

Feel these all take a very similar players…blocking/picking and playmaker YAC Creation Specialist. Whether stacking two players out wide in front of the YAC Creator out wide behind them throwing a Screen backwards…to last season our favorite was the Goedert Short Out.

The O mind needs to add these is just understanding who and when needs to just clear out areas(think Smitty on a Go)…or by alignment singling out space….with balance of physical blocking setups to pave the way.

Only a heavy Pass Coverage Zone D could even really present situations where any other players than Smitty or AJ aren’t just completely focusing on beat just that one single defender even. So setting up a bunch of blocking is actually counterproductive at times.

Isolation can actually be the best setup of all to create YAC.

Chiefs week two as big a target and mission as it gets for this Chiefs team in a long time.
