We have several unproven TEs in here…could see one of them develop into being versatile.

We have some good role pieces behind Geodart but don’t see any of them being serious replacement options for him after this season

Still lot of offseason left though sure we see couple of moves made before the season starts possibly some trades

I more thinking about a guy can be used just in a variety of ways more than Goedert replacement. Maybe a guy that can play FB…and a few differing TE roles.

How woud Godert play if he went down(aka injured)?

????

So what did he play for all 22 snaps last year? 22 snaps all year doesn't seem like a huge contribution

Why does the FB contribution have to be " huge "? He was arguably the best ST player...they started using him at FB a few games before he got hurt. What's wrong with that strategy?

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/V/VanSBe00/gamelog/ Yeah good STer, Just no roster category for those, you have to put some label on him. TBH I really wasn't paying attention to ST last year

I can tell

If Goedert WENT DOWN we could use him to BLOCK for Calc. Nothing complicated about that C'mon now

He isn't a TE. Stop it

EJ Jenkins feels like the guy kind of setting the bar for that final TE position.

The depth in that TE room is where we need a guy or two …step up here.

As a "ST'er" you can place him anywhere on the field to block if you wanted to. He could line up at TE and block for calc. There is nothing stopping Siri from doing that. If he is a LB how can he play on offense? Because he has no set position,it's just a label. He can be a FB, a lead blocker whatever, wherever. Seems simple to me

Take a look at the video of his snaps from Jimmy Kempski’s article profiling him. Based on those snaps, what do you think of his blocking?

Eagles player review: FB Ben VanSumeren edition

Moving to a modern fullback role could make best use of the third-year pro's athleticism, speed and ... hands?

In these vids I like it. It's like having an extra O linemen. It says he is improving alot. I need to pay more attention to how they use him this year. (and I will do that). Joe said he was a good ST player. The ST game fell off for me with all the rule changes. Not alot to see anymore. I get the player safety angle, but they took all the fun out of them. As a "FB" it would be nice to see him with the ball in his hands. We and most other HS teams had FB's back then, but the position disappeared as "regular" RB's got heavier and stronger, so why not just call him a RB?

Look at those vids again. A lot of his blocking is pretty bad. His movement skills and quickness is outstanding, but his engagement of the Defender he is assigned to block is weak at best. Think about Nolan Smith in the Super Bowl engaging the Chiefs’ OG. That is what BVS ideally should be doing to the player he is targeting.

SO IDK do we use him on the ST coverage team(Yes) or the ST return team or both? I admitted I didn't know so educate me as to the 11 on each ST side. Thanks

Dude... enough already

Yes, the difference between a lead blocker making a quick hit/ push...vs a blocker that needs to " engage " the FB you want a guy on on the move finding a target and getting in the way, you don’t need necessarily great technique or even solid contact... TE engaging in a longer block ..holding it... much different.

Shunderrick Powell I’m thinking will be our return man. That fourth RB….making it tougher to keep a FB on the roster.
