Lot of rumors that Vikings are interested in moving up for JJ out of Michigan.

They have same Darnold who is also only 26 that could be a nice bridge QB. Have to wonder if Darnold could have a breakout year though as well Vikings would easily be the best team he started for in his NFL career.

Darnold would probably be not terrible in Minnesota. But you can tell by all the talk they are looking hard to get a top draftee. JJ seems very likely. I’m marking it in the book…in pencil.

Yeah, like I said, G wouldn't be my choice unless they can eventually take over RT when Lane goes. Great OT's are just more valuable and harder to find. If we're going to expend a lot of draft capital to move up I'd prefer a real game changer if it's a G so be it, just don't think it's the best move.

I'm just looking at who we had in. I really see ZERO OT's that could take over for Lane,so we're looking at G only and IMO round 2 to boot. And while vists are not guarantees,we pick 67% of our guys off that list. So IMO since there are no OT's on that list we should go another direction taking our RG in round 2. it's just logic.

I wouldn’t think we’d do a bunch of moving for Fautanu from Washington. Supposed to be around 22.

From Kempski;

I agree that Seattle is the sweet spot for a trade up. If the Eagles were to get to that spot, at least one of JC Latham, Amarius Mims, Terrion Arnold, or Quinyon Mitchell should be available. In my opinion, those are the four players the Eagles are most likely to make a modest move up for. But also:

• Howie is boys with Seattle GM John Schneider, and they've done their fair share of deals.

• The Seahawks don't have a second-round pick, and the trade chart works out nicely for the following kind of swap:

 Eagles get Seahawks get
 Pick 16 (1000 points) Pick 22 (780 points)
Pick 81 (185 points)   Pick 50 (400 points)
1185 points  1180 points

I'm fine with a round 2 G. Most round 2's would be round 1's in other drafts. So edge,or CB would seem to be the direction unless they have some special guy picked out they aren't talking about.

Considering Brown is set to be 26m against the cap next year then 41m the year after…. It’s likely a deal to make both sides happy lower the cap hit on our end we’ll also giving Brown more money in guarantees

AJ has no more guaranteed $ after this yr, good time to extend him, esp before CeeDee or Jefferson

Amon St Brown deal has already set a new bar. Big time money there. It won’t be cheap…but won’t cost us much cap money for five years…we all know that part.

Denver

Rd 2 for a G would be fine. Don't get me wrong, Steen is penciled in w/ Hennessey and a few others competing, G just shouldn't be the 1st rd choice this yr.

I mean the plan would likely to be he will replace Lane at RT but how many years until that happens?
If we draft the kid and he is playing RG like Nelson or Martin would we still want to move him in 2-3(maybe more years) when Lane decides to retire? Or would we just look to draft a new T anyway

Lane stating to play three more years. That’s too long to grab his pure successor this draft. A G that possibly could move to T is clearly an option. But drafted Steen last draft on Day Two that could be the swing backup G/T. He looks like he can handle both jobs to me…at a backup level at least.

Thats who we had in round 2 or 3 prospects. Howie planned for picks in about any round at G,so we'll get one. I'n not even certain we go in round 2 although I would personally advise it. Still have additional needs. CB,LB,WR,TE and if we use a 2 pick to move up in 1, all those would be round 5 picks

I like  Latu,it's a Howie pick. If it was me I would shoot for Arnold, but for Howie that is outside his comfort zone and seeing as we had round 2 G's in and knowing DB is outside howies Zone,it led me to Latu. We DID have him(Arnold) and DeJean in for visits,so the question is ":will Howie go outside his comfort zone?" If you can answer that you can narrow things down quite a bit. My answer was no,which once again led me back to Latu

2 years ago? Playing all that time? It's not like he got hurt at the combine. With all the teams checking him out don't you think a read flag would have waved by now????

Nobody is saying crap before the draft. I just heard yesterday about both LSU WR will likely need shoulder procedures after their rookie season. After the draft then teams might come out with the negatives on their diagnosis of Latu. NFL teams aren’t going to scare off their enemies making bad draft choices. After they do it? Then we might hear about it. How it always works. As fans that’s the biggest info we aren’t clued in on: the medical reports. Is what it is. Happens every year. I’m sure we’ll find out plenty of info here after the draft we didn’t realize. No way for us to know otherwise until though.

Lane said 2 yrs, turning 34, injuries, doesn't want to get re-addicted to pain killers so it may not be up to him but his body - time always wins

I wouldn't be the happiest going G that's going to be a G. T's are more important and harder to get.

Think you’ll like this Washington kid though. He plays nasty! In a good way. Many are projecting this college T to transition to G in the NFL. But he isn’t ruled out from being a T like the Duke kid Barton and some others.

Fautanu is one of the best athletes in this offensive line class. His flexibility, agility and coordination could allow him to play meaningful reps at all five offensive line spots, but his long-term home is likely at guard or center. He has fast hands for flashes, repositioning and first contact.

According to PFF

How do you guys feel about Mims? Just 8 starts he could slide and be a steal

Fautanu is known for a nonstop motor and he loves looking to finish people with his blocks. He’d be a fairly ideal Oline target I’d think.

So raw. But he’s a mountain of a man that’s very athletic. As large an upside as there gets.

Now one can ask "how badly do we want him)or anyone for that matter) I think after Bowers goes off the board we will see the action pick up for linemen and WR's. I assume by pick 10(Bowers) 5 QB's and 2 WR's and maybe Alt and another OT will be gone. At 11 who knows,so 12 would be as high up as I would go. if I can make a deal at 12,I would just stand at 22

Believe this statement is one of many OPINIONS and carries no more weight than any other

Like I stated I believe this statement you quoted sort of supported both our viewpoints.

As the Vikings should wouldn’t bank on Darnold being the answer either just stating that Minnesota is the best team he has ever been around to possibly start for(he was the backup in SF last year they are obviously better but Purdy job was all but locked in place).

If Darnold were to ever turn around his career Minnesota is his best chance

IDK if he ever will. He gets bounced because all then teams see the same thing, he can't take the next step for whatever reason

I would be fine with Fatanu, but I won't move for him and it would surprise me if he fell to 22

Of hence why said 2-3 more years but 3 years pass Lane still feeling good, we are in position to win another ring etc lot of factors could decide on him playing more.
Steen see as a non factor even if Lane only plays 3 more years Steen would be a FA when Lane retires could bring him back cheap but at that point we would likely just look to draft a replacement.
