Heck….pretty much what just happened last season even. He slacked off…..which got him injured….crushed his effectiveness…..along with stupid boneheaded getting sucked in by our biggest division rival Dak getting kicked out before having any effect in such an important matchup.I honestly don’t believe Carter wouldn’t have completely screwed everything up already in any other less than so extremely ideal circumstances. He got completely scared straight facing how close he came to completely screwing up his career and payday coming in as a rookie. Best possible scenario towards actually getting his best as a rookie coming into the NFL. Players and organization here(culture) beyond as optimal for him as anybody could imagine(credit Rosie understanding and directly orchestrating exactly the entire thing). Yet….in beyond dream ideal situation? Carter already went sideways. Last season I viewed as so massively self inflicted. Injuries occur. But….hard to not to tie his terrible prep towards his career so quickly in just the third season directly to his injury. Not necessarily completely fair from me….but that’s my opinion. Everything beyond ideal….he still screwed up….then we paid him mega highest money as his reward.

Remember…I was the guy banging the table to find anyway to draft Carter a season before he even entered the draft. I’ve been way ahead on him. Completely went so far as labeling the draft trade with Saints basing it on whether it landed us Carter or not. Traded up….but still only occurred because he completely screwed up…along with always possesing red flags on character and dedication.

Is concerned here. Carter’s issues all still surfaced. So quickly in year three after completely being scared straight with the car racing incident and beyond ideal culture he’s been surrounded by. He was a dumba22 and spit at Dak. Exactly proving that red flag as fitting and warranted. While not being close to a dedicated pro showing up third season now where near committed.

If Carter wasn’t completely surrounded by beyond dream culture environment as an Eagles?I don’t believe Carter realizes anywhere near his potential otherwise. Heck….actually pointing out how he still completely screwed up.
July 31Jul 31 Carter slacked off. Was so far from acting like a dedicated professional. We rewarded him after that. Scary!

Now…gotta assume Rosie isn’t a complete moron here. Assuming Carter did a 180. Carter worked his butt off rehabbing and working out this entire offseason. Feel that payday occurred because Carter proved himself. Carter setup to clearly have his most dominant season yet. Some similarities to payday for Davis. Davis finally worked out acting like a professional….got paid. Pretty weak reasoning….but reality. So really hoping Carter actually acted like a dedicated professional this offseason. You know his agent, Rosenhaus, clearly pointed out his opportunity for his payday.
July 31Jul 31 Feel it noteworthy the guy banging the table to go hard after Carter long before he even could be drafted…..is so much less convinced his megacontract payday by Rosie was brilliant fantastic decision. First, just because he’s not a quality leader for our organization. Heck…completely opposite in too many ways….completely believing his success has depended on completely surrounding him with ideal environment. Second, Lurie even gave hints at balking at paying Carter to be such a backbone of his organization. Lurie so far from being that type owner character too. Third, rewarded the super elite athlete coming off doing everything wrong. Entire league red flagged Carter….then year three proved those red flags as accurate. Carter did everything I…and Eagles worried about with him last season….backed up the franchises brinks truck rewarding that.
July 31Jul 31 So…no actual knowledge for my optimism and belief Carter flipped a 180 this offseason. By dedicating and worked hard. Offering that megadeal without him doing all that? I almost don’t even want to consider. Expecting a tremendous season from Carter this year. Relying on it. But…it’s sketchy! Red flagged unanimously….what will result from locking in all that money? Heck….plenty of athletes been sidetracked at least temporarily after reaching that financial windfall. If nothing else…..it’s a huge distraction.

If nothing else…..it’s a huge distraction. Hurts in comparison so dedicated to champion achievements. Payday affects things….but he’s on rare exception levels of the money effecting his career. Carter? Could reach HOF NFL achievements. Based on ability and potential. Believe his ego sees himself as that player. But…far from seeing proof he’s become a dedicated driven professional towards achieving his highest. No stretch for me to envision a future where this ends up as Carter’s last quality dedicated season. No reason other than optimism believing he at least worked hard in his contract offseason. Everybody gave Carter a hard time…even Hurtt went so far as calling him out as not in shape last season. I’m convinced Carter was in fact our offer for Miles Garrett. It’s actually the only thing that makes much sense at all. Nolan value was low…before he got in a troubling offseason. Nolan not very realistic to have even been tradeable. Hunt? Fangio isn’t trading him. Flat out. Fangio resisting retirement hinges on desire to coach such a player he completely singles out. Browns favored Verse over Carter. Verse a quality player. But….complete ego check to Carter they chose Verse over him.
July 31Jul 31 Now…Browns known for such a terrible track record. But were they wrong? Verse or Carter? Which guy ends up as better longer term franchise building block? Sucks to admit….but I’m actually leaning towards Verse sadly.

July 31Jul 31 Hurts and Smitty both blown away because we have a zero experience coach just because he actually has a reasoning surrounding what he’s up to. Short version: all I hear out O leaders pointing out is? We finally have an actual scheme.

Mitchell will be the one that takes longer because it will be the one that looks like it's top of the market, but will be done similar to Devonte and Carter...after exercising the 5th year option...which for Mitchell won't be as much being picked in the 20s. So more incentive for him to sign for big money early.

All has to do with DeJean will never earn the big payday unless he can play outside lmaoIt's interesting to project what the Eagles do building the future defense. The DTs along with Dejean and Mitchell being the core. At CB2 you would think they draft one, but I could see them not wanting to rely on that, and doing the one year deals with vets etc. DeJean being such a good run defender, in the " base" defense " ( which is hilarious being called that since they don't actually play it that often) you would want DeJean in the middle of the field, not necessarily on the outside. So having the solid #2 helps....but also I think the idea is putting your best 4 DBs out there. So now with Woolen, and the question at safety, it makes sense to keep DeJean at S in base. In the future if Woolen leaves and they improve at S, making DeJean go to outside CB in base... Not about pass coverage so much in base. That's a run stopping formation. And if it were a pass play, chances are they aren't looking to attack DeJean or Mitchell with the bigger offensive personel. So I don't really think that where DeJean plays in base is going to change his pay...he will get paid nicely and will be used in base according to what is the best run defensive package of 4 DBs. Which will include him somewhere.

Looks $1 mil higher than the $31 mil the top guys got... but it's not starting until 2029. You can expect those type of deals coming from Howie. Maybe Coop gets 5 years ?
July 31Jul 31 Only day 2 of camp but sounds like we are actually looking to get Tank more involved in the offense and ground game which I think is going to be huge.
July 31Jul 31 Author FWIW- yes WAY too early, but was looking at next years draft prospects and of course the rankings will change, but it's like 75% defense. Just a HUGE amount of S's and LB's. IDK what this means for us, just making an observation

If we can't RUN to the next level like we struggled with last year, Hurts can dump off a 3 yard pass. 123 sent me a vid of Hurts throwing on the run moving LEFT and Wicks making a leaping reception between 2 defenders. I was a little concerned about this but it looks to me like Wicks is going to take advantge of the opportunities he didn't get in GB. Hurts and Wicks were talking back and forth so it appears Wicks is going to be a great AJ replacement. This is what I wanted to see. This will free up Lemon. I feel this team is going to be alot better than we thought. Still early,I get that. Going to be a huge battle for the last WR spot. Hurts looks thinner, I noticed
July 31Jul 31 if the offense can pick up this new scheme, they have the talent to be a top tier O. it all starts with the qb though.

He did well last year. I expect him to be even better to snag a long term contract for us. Need Dickerson healthy and this O line should be just fine. I'm still waiting for Hurts to take the needed steps to be a top 10. He needs to show me
