Huge step!

I need to see a reason to pay you highly. Didn't see anything like that last year

I'm not paying him.I think they win with the defense and the running game. I've been saying he will QB for 2 more years. Reason=A great passing 2026... he gets the new contract. A bad 2026, they may look to unload him.But a mediocre year...which i expect from the passing game. I think they postpone any decisions. Run it back 2027, let the guaranteed money run out. And then make the decision. Which I think will be that he won't get paid.My reason... our ELITE OL for years has been the key reason for offensive success. Going into 2028... what happens to Lane, Dickerson, Mailata? Who will be here? And on top of that, who will be here to play elite and be the key through another high paid QB contract? I don't see it. They will need to have new OL.. and if they lock in the QB to that big money long term, then they will have to draft and develop ALL of them if they also are paying the core of the defense. I think Howie is going to want flexibility to maybe go get some free agents on the OL. Or maybe keep some more defensive guys? The flexibility of not paying a QB and possibly getting draft compensation also... that's probably what he sees that would be needed to keep the franchise going. Otherwise he will have to believe that Hurts can carry a mediocre roster... which seems less likely if he doesn't run at that high level into his 30s.

August 2Aug 2 Carter's deal according to this source. I want to verify this once I see it one on of the sites.

Watson not worth it clearly. But that’s basically irrelevant. Getting near half the starting QBs  are paid what Hurts is paid….11 paid more.  The way I look at that is real simple NFL salary. That’s just starting QB pay.Â

Pretty much can’t win at all without him. But…his NFL record is nothing short of absolutely elite. SB MVP. Lead our Eagles every single year to the playoffs. Outstanding character and person. Dedicated professional that works hard always….doesn’t matter if it’s offseason. Hurts instantly communicating and involved leading any player as soon as they come on board.

Has any player ever been more focused on winning…especially targeting goal being win championships. After second season…not some older 26 year old College player…opposite…younger than most.Â
August 2Aug 2 Pull up Hurts quotes about him being upset concerning his individual glory stat production after a win. After winning the SB in an O that could have produced all time statistical numbers…instead Siri sabotaged the O from thriving. Did Hurts demand a trade? Or did he smoke a cigar accomplishing what he priorotizes? Team winning…especially becoming champions. Hurts criticized endlessly over Siri stunting O stat success. Hurts knew he would be. Make another player that is willing to take that heat placing team over personal ego?
August 2Aug 2 Made AJ a champion. Brought him out of Tennessee…very low levels of being in important games. Nowhere near contending to consider being a champion.  That guy….right after winning the SB and becoming a champion….demands out. Totally focused on himself. Only cares about ego and fame. Opposite of Hurts….he’d rather team lose and not even make the postseason as long as he gets his.
August 2Aug 2 I’m completely on the side of win…goal is shooting for championships.  On what planet is feeding ego loading up the stat sheet losing become the focus?

Being blown out …so passing a bunch creating big stats…favored over winning being selfless putting team first. Week one in the first quarter showing capabilities of elite production…praised and showered with superiority over stepping up producing in the clutch most important moments? I find it actually damning labeling  that player as not a guy you want. It’s so defining because that player showing clear capabilities that he can be great and do it…so not a lacking talent issue which a player can’t change. Like Allen. Puts up huge stats. Loses so consistently in OT.Â

Loses so consistently in OT. Chokes in the key moments of pressure. That’s defining completely for me. I can’t do anything with a player can’t handle pressure and clutch. Goal for me being prioritizing postseason and highest pressure biggest stage and moments.  Niners with Garrapolo for example. Garrapolo wasn’t terrible…until clutch and biggest ending moments. There he consistently would do the dumbest boneheaded play. Team could carry him all the way to the SB. But they can’t and couldn’t overcome Garrapolo choking at the end leaving no way to fight back to overcome and succeed.
