Not the ideal guy they were looking for. So they are bringing Tyler Smith back outside again. Moved him inside to G because he wasn’t ready. This is all my educated guessing of course. But they lost their T.

I like thinking about the details of ball obviously much more than you. Is what it is. You can just go with the flow and comment in hindsight only. Would help if you at least were understanding more being commenting in hindsight on things though.

Fangio was last choice of our DC... nobody else was left, and so Lurie/ Howie only had him left. Fangio might not have any say in how the defense in run. He won't have as much control as other DCs. For these obvious reasons... this is why I believe our drafts picks will be ruined. Besides...we are just talking ball. That was last season that Rosie screwed all up bringing in Fangio…to run Fangio’s D. Last season had to settle for his last choice of Desai. Feeling so little confidence went ahead and made the plan of a midseason firing to turn over to Patricia. It was brilliant planning I tell you. GM of the Year level step ahead plan.

If he was drafted to that environment and thrown to the wolves under that regime. Mahomes was blessed to go to AR and get to sit a season. Completely career changing situation. Buffalo traded the pick to the Chiefs. That franchise really did themselves a huge favor on that move.

Like during the games. I also can smell the BS a mile away...and take what people say in context. Like with Belicheck saying only LT was ready in his first game... I understand his point without taking it literally. Also understand while the slot CB technically maybe assigned to cover an out route in cover 3... that it's not going to work. Change the play call. Also prefer getting the better talent...not worried about a Coach for decades messing up their growth on May 3rd by giving them too much to think about. The constant that we have heard over the years is them giving the rookies a lot of info during these rookie and mini camps...so that they see what they retain when camp starts. Football is their job.... nothing else. Their whole life should be learning plays, schemes, techniques...and counters to all those plays, schemes and techniques.

Becton was also flagged for 18 penalties during a disastrous season for the Jets." This will be a great test of what going to Stout U does for a player. Pretty amazed he's not a head coach - it's not all about the O. The guy is a massive athletic moving mountain. But he has to get his head straight. Stout can’t make any player have the ‘want to.’ Think he even declared himself a LT last season. Before they were thinking he’s playing RT. Any blocker was going to suffer in the stat department with that QB crap going on back there. But I felt like why not take a shot on bringing in Becton. See if he was humbled enough to be ready for coaching now. See if he is hungry wanting to work and save his career. What were the negotiations to bring him in? He couldn’t have believed he was coming here expecting a starting T job. Did they tell him he’d get the RG starting job? Or did he just take the best money offered that moment with no conditions? It’s a situation reminds me a bit of the past we saw of Peters here. Told him we’d only pay so much moving him to G…then he held us hostage to move to T. Gotta think such a monster of a man could move the pile in the run game. No doubt be a specific asset in the Brotherly Shove. But can see a downside to having a super tall G in front of a smaller than prototypical QB in the passing game.

Can only buy apparel and tickets spending money. Have that effect as a fan. They gotta have the fans or none of it exists.

I’ve seen mixed results that have occurred from the different coaches. Differing results have occurred from the GM. Rosie after day one of the draft highlights how he needs to not overwhelm the pick. Just need him to hyper focus on the outside CB job when asked about his ability to man the slot. Rosie circled back that he believes Q can play the slot.

April 29, 20241 yr All kinds of trains of thought on how to handle things with rookies. Are you going to handle it like they did with Reed Blankenship? Just focused on giving him just a role or two to succeed at. Not all the S jobs. Had him building off those building blocks. Add to his plate from there. This is in sharp contrast to just throwing everything at him to see what sticks. Totally different than just seeing if he can kind of do every job decent.

He does have more experience playing S than I realized. He wants to view himself as a shutdown outside CB. But he just wants to play most of all. Just reading him as so very coachable a player. He’s a stud grown in Iowa…very much contrasting being the same talent raised in LA. No offense to any LA lovers.
April 29, 20241 yr I think Bellicheat point about LT being the only guy he’s coached being ready day one….is a good one. These guys need the coaching and development. Pro weight and technique training.

It's great dude....because sports isn't for worrying about losing.... sports is an opportunity to achieve something. I play and coach enough ... certainly not going to worry about other teams, especially those guys who all get paid win or lose. Not my job to worry... it doesn't effect the outcome.

This is in sharp contrast to just throwing everything at him to see what sticks. Totally different than just seeing if he can kind of do every job decent. He played 3 positions........and played them all well to Iowa's satisfaction. He arrived in Iowa as a SAFETY. But somehow Iowa needed a CB and he filled that void and those are the "highlights" you see. However he ALREADY KNOWS all 3 positions. He will have to transition like every rookie that has ever been drafted since time began. There is nothing new or detrimental about this,it's FACT. If the coaches we have can't develop these rookie players do you think Lurie would let them stick around long? he will make rookie mistakes, they ALL do. There is nothing new or detrimental about making mistakes if one learns from them. The Eagles will play Coop where h fits best and he could actually play varying positions in the SAME GAME. That is the UPSIDE of why we drafted him. it's foolish to think he needs "trained" at playing positions he played in HS and college. I still understand how to play TE(although it has come a long way since I played). I started out as a RB. After some time the coach saw my potential(and/or failures at RB) to move me to TE. Those are 2 widely different positions. CB and S employ many of the same reps. It's how you can control your body, speed, change of direction which he ALREADY understands. He will find out where his limitations are,and where he excels. The transition process takes time. It will NOT be completed in camp, and may take more than a year. Again this is nothing foreign and nothing the Eagles face that the other 31 teams don't. The kid is EXCITED to play football. Let the kid get acclimated and make some friends on the team. He has excellent player mentors to give him tips as well as the coaches we employ. Every guy we drafted needs to do this first. By mid camp they will have some ideas on how to use Coop. If anyone gets injured he can step in to any of the 3 DB roles. It's advantageous to have a versatile player like this. I'm going to let the kid play the game he loves and see how he fits into the defensive scheme. he will learn new things he couldn't in Iowa like all rookies under new coaches. I'm not going to place this kid under a microscope. He will make his rook mistakes and find his place within the Eagles organization. Sometimes the best teacher is not reps in camp,it's making those mistakes in a game. He now earns a paycheck and has a JOB. He will learn his job and progress,or he will be fired from his job like anyone else who fails to do it. Of all the players we drafted,I'm not putting extra undue pressure on this guy. He will learn his job or he won't. I'm going to assume he will and become an integral piece of the Eagles defense in the future. Perhaps we change coaches again. He will not forget what he learned under the staff we have in place. As his body matures and his mind soaks up different things he will learn he will get better like any other rookie on any team in the league. He's young, bright and loves playing no matter where on the field it is. I love his attitude. He has confidence and smarts and a body I wish I had in college. I'm expecting big things from him as he is expecting big things from himself,to be the best he can be. Rant over
