As far as Hurts falling down, sorry, he needs to fight for the yardage like he used to do, not fall down. And while it's great to avoid injury, you are now being paid to perform at the highest level and like it or not Hurts wasn't. Kenny is actually the better passer in my book. Hurts needs to up his game. I don't WANT him to be the offense. he has a TOP RB now, weapons galore, there are no more excuses to be had. I hope he can take the steps he needs to and I am looking forward to that

They preached the opposite. He's being paid and is so crucially needed he can’t afford to get taken out.

WR's DON'T make reads, they run ROUTES. The QB needs to make the reads not the WR's

Not true at all. WR absolutely make reads on their routes based on the D. Break it off if a huge blitz read happens. Adjust to the pass coverage leverage in other situations. WR totally should be making reads…frequently.

The we fail because top QB's give all they have

WRs read to find holes in Zone coverage also.

Those adjustments are made in the 15 seconds before the snap. They may change the route, but the QB makes the reads

Not a read, that is an adjustment to the route

Think he needs to strike a quality balance. He took a beating last season. We need him to live to okay another play. Get down (or out of bounds)on second down two yards before taking the big hit. Rather accept third and 6 than Hurts taking the big hit for third and 4.

Another learning point is at times you just need to throw it away and live for another play. he gets pounded at times when he fails to do that trying too hard to make things happen. He needs to play smarter that's all

They all make the reads and need to be on the same page. WRs absolutely  make post snap reads. It was right there in the quote from Hurts about what makes an O system. You need to read that. He told you all these key details point blank.

Not disagreeing with this. And it’s unnatural for him to play like that. He’s a competitor that wants to fight and make the play…every time. He’s got to figure that balance out here.

Adjustments and reads were in the Hurts quote.

Are the receivers going to adjust to find the hole in the zone reading the coverage? Are the receivers going to read the DBs leverage and adjust according on his route?  Are the receivers going to go to a Hot Route reading a blitz situation?

Once again it's not a read it's a route adjustment. as the game goes on or perhaps you already know your opponent, you know where things can be exploited. QB calls a pass play, the WR will say +8,that will tell the QB where the break comes. The WR has adjusted the route, now the QB has to read where the window comes. We are arguing semantics here but they ARE different

But Hurts pointing out he needs to understand whether a receiver has reads built in or not on the playcall.

Yeah I get that. And I agree, but he has to play smarter football. You can't take a JV sack in the EZ. He knows better(or should) by now. You can't take the safety no matter what system you have or don't have

Right, Hurts needs to READ the WR ADJUSTMENTS -correct

Its not just WR…TE and RB too…but they need to read and adjust.

Hurts needs to have the understanding and be on the same page with what his targets read and adjustment will be.

OK spinning wheels here LOL. The players make the adjustments and Hurts job is to read them and deliver the ball

receiver adjustments are made pre snap,Hurts makes the reads post snap. Don't make it harder than it is LOL

This has been my bash about Siri not making adjustments on the fly. Smith could tell him "I can beat this guy,but I need 3 yards farther downfield".Siri should then adjust the play calls telling Hurts what Smith said. That is an adjustment to the route(s). Siri waits to process all this until 1/2 time and it drives me insane LOL

Andy Reid is a master at this and caused us to lose the SB in part. Siri was outcoached

Nice discussion with no name calling, very refreshing. Have a great night

"So that’s exactly what makes it different. The X’s and O’s, the lines on the paper, they may very well be what they’re supposed to be but how I coach and how I detail these routes, how I coach the quarterback, what I want his timing to be, where I want him looking, where I want his eyes. Are receivers reading routes? Are they not reading routes? Are there alerts on this? Are there checks and adjustments built in on this? Or is there something that someone has to do, that the quarterback has to do? That’s what makes a system a system.”

I’ll just post Hurts quote once again.

There is more he’s saying before this in his presser…but yeah…he’s speaking of how a system is being coached.
