They have to spread out to cover everyone being the lateral is used as the only way to pass the ball without kicking it forward...there isn't blocking... so much different with a ball carrier just being able to have one player tackling you and its all up above the waste. No leg tackles to be found 🤣 But while you are at it watch guys with the ball truck other players. Mailatas legs are too weak and wimpy to go 2 yards now? Anyway,I think he would enjoy this play. We can call it "the tuck and truck" The reasoning for hitting high in rugby is 2 fold,to stop progress and to jar the ball loose. As you can see the ball shape is different to where you can't tuck it. There would be a zillion fumbles if an NFL football was shaped this way. But to say Mailata has never been leg tackled playing rugby is fallacy. And when he played he just ran over people because of his size. He plays an NFL position where you have to stand and hold your ground with only an occaisional push downfield. There isno position in rugby similar, since rugby is constantly moving forward. Sorry I even mentioned this, but i still think Mailata would smile
July 29, 20241 yr Author https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/football/roster/josh-simmons/11042 I will be watching this kid as the college season kicks off. He is a senior OT who transferred to OSU and has a year in there after playing for San Diego state(this will be year 2 at OSU). I want to watch him because although the next draft class is pretty nice with OT's,if we do as well as I think we will and pick around 30 then he should be gettable about there AT THIS POINT. IF the OSU running game flourishes this year I suspect he rises on the boards, but he could be a kid to bring in for Lane to train(remember this will be next year not today LOL) I like the LSU kid as well, but think he will go high on draft day,but we also know Howie will move for the right guy

Sorry I even mentioned this, but i still think Mailata would smile Again... I'm not worried about Mailata scoring from 2 yards out.. I'm simply saying the defense is going to tackle him at the knees. I don't need him taking a shot at the knee to score a gimme TD. The truck people in rugby because there is no tackling low...so they don't have to worry about taking a shot or multiple shots at the knees....they run aggressive and just push or stiff arm guys. When you played ball did try to stand up the guy that outweighed you by 100lbs and was 6 inches taller or did you go low?
July 29, 20241 yr They are reporting mild ankle injury at the Inquiror. Said he’d miss a few days. Kind of a weird way to report it if you were in the know. The normal would be a mild ankle sprain…or more specific with whatever the injury is. Just a detail I noticed. Hopefully their timetable is accurate is all that really matters.

If he wants to make that play he should be allowed to make that play if he wants to. 1 play is not a big deal.If it's a "gimme" then he will be in the EZ before anyone touches him. You act like his legs are sticks and he never took a rugby leg tackle before. Seems to me his legs are strong enough to keep out 300 pound rushers, but he cant walk into the EZ now? I'm done with this topic. Mention something on here and it's just more arguing.........................moving on..................

You want to see him with the ball because you think he will truck guys on his way to a TD? You want to see him knock a guy or two over right?

His voice sounds like his frank & beans are caught in his zipper.

July 29, 20241 yr Ringo looking like he should be the starter. It’s been easy to have belief in him ever since he took over the starting job at the end of last season. He’s ready.
