Ongoing Eagles New Discussion volume 2

Martindale added that he and Hurts spoke for about a half hour and discussed how the Giants game-planned against him and the holes in the Eagles' pass protection.

"It was very effective and he knew it, and he just wanted to know why we did certain things that we did. Then he went to work on that," Martindale said.

Hurts reached out to our rival DC in Wink even to try and better himself and this O. Can’t say I’ve really heard a QB doing that before.

Wink is currently the Giants DC?

"I've been doing this for 40 years," said Martindale, now the defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan, "and it's the first time I've had an opposing quarterback call me up. I thought it was pretty cool that the guy called. It shows you what kind of pro he really is. He's just looking at every angle that he can to get better."

He's just the best ever.... now if he can get to reading a defense and throwing the ball as good as he does every other thing in life... which ultimately won't matter if he can't do these 2 things... then we should be looking at a great season.

He seems stronger and faster but you need preseason games to get a real feel.

This is hilarious!   LOL

Who run vanilla schemes.   Nothing is real unless the opponent is scheming to try to beat you. Vanilla plays don't say much.

Like our 2023 team ran all season long?

Wasn't that last year?

Is this another SF clearing the cap that is going to last a few years of discussion?

How long have we benefitted from the dumpster fire Snyder created?

Always have 4 QBs at this point.   Three will go on the roster... one on the PS after the cuts

Tons of reps and balls that need to be thrown…you need 4 QBs plus have coaches tossing balls.

Wink had a huge falling out with Dabol. So immediately after the season Hurts reached out to Wink.

Think Wink is coaching for Michigan now.

Clearly Siri didn’t have any answers for our O to finish the season so Hurts reached out to our rival DC to pick his brain. Just another example when there are endless examples of our QB1 trying everything he can to improve. Now we got a little better coaching in here…should be huge to have Hurts operating in an actual scheme!

That shows the talent...vanilla all season..plus the QB giving away the football.  With a half decent OC the offense should be elite....especially with the addition of Barkley and if the QB keeps the ball away from the other team.

That's kinda been my point.... we don't need the " great O mind"  just a decent OC not here for childhood relationships or possible comp picks!

Which wasn't there last year...so we move on.   Don't need to keep harping on it.

At a point where he was no longer the DC of a rival.

What was your answer without AJ?

Hurts reached out to an unemployed former DC.   Not our rival

You have two ways to look at it.

The emotional female type of view of constant rehashing and focusing on blame...  or the calm male type of view where you just focus on issues being acknowledged and attempts to correct things going forward.

Emotional and look back... or logical and look forward.  To each their own.

And I absolutely disagree with BG in the idea that the Eagles don't have a track record of replacing OCs.

The failures were promoting guys already here.... the last 3 guys brought in from the outside are....Reich, Steichen and now Moore.   If Moore is successful...that's 3 in a row bringing in OCs....  the lesson, don't promote within if Moore leaves after a successful season.

That pretty much sums up the Eagles since Chip left.  When they go outside for new ideas, new players....humbling themselves,  they have success.   When they got cocky after the success and think whoever they plug in is going to work...that's when they fail.

If we succeed in 2024 and Moore leaves... if they understand to go outside the organization and hire an OC...I feel confident they could make a good choice.

Can't say I like our QB "reaching out" to other people. You take home the same girl you took to the dance. If Hurts needs that much work still, we're screwed. How about getting QB 102 stuff down like making multiple reads and faster decision making? If he can't read defenses again he will be running for his life due to indecision. We don't need Wink to figure that out. It's what normal people on here have been pointing out for a long time. All Hurts had to do was watch the film with Moore there and he would get the help he needs how to defeat said defensive set.Or ask the DC watching the same film "what is going on here coach"? This is a slap in the face to the Eagles coaching staff going out side the organization, deeming them either ineffective, unimportant or both, for things that could be answered internally. This going outside is an intangible I don't care for

I posted before I read this. Yep we both said the same thing LOL

Don’t need the great O mind? Is your goal to beat Shannahan and AR….all the great O minded teams? Or are you just satisfied trying to win the NFC East?

Now we will start having a legit team to face twice a year.

Days after he quit our rival

Didn’t look like Rosie had much of an answer. He was striking out on bringing in any decent WRs to pair with Smitty. The top draft WR we’re out of our range. Thank goodness Hurts took matters into his own hands to get AJ to cease negotiating and force his way out of Nashville. That was the first successful Hail Mary Hurts pulled off! Franchise changing.

What it is: very telling of how Siri doesn’t have much for X and O answers. Hurts doesn’t like losing.
