August 14, 20242 yr Author While much of the word on Hurts coming out of camp has revolved around his forward leaps as a passer, as he has set a new Eagles training camp record for most passes thrown without an interception if he can hypercharge Moore’s offense with well-designed rushing plays too, it will only make Philadelphia’s offense all the more unstoppable, as his ability to pick up major yards on the ground fundamentally changes how opposing coordinators can run their defenses. "Forward leaps as a passer" is what we have all been talking about.Kudos. If his decision making as well as making multiple reads and getting the ball out has taken leaps as well we can win the SB

But I believe they are useful. Helps the quality of football trotted out week one. There just is no substitute for game action. Just feels like they’re making less and less opportunities for players to actually make the team. So much is set just on paper. I like guys getting some chance to upset the paper rankings situation on the field. Practice isn’t the same as game situations. Myself I never was as good in practice. Need that game atmosphere and contact. Our team last year tackled so atrocious. We need game action to lift up our tackling here. First weeks of the regular season just seem to be getting sloppier and sloppier football. All kinds of just basic penalties bogging things down. The poor tackling. The more and more they are getting rid of PS time the more and more it just transfers into playing out on the field in what’s ’real games.’ But I’m old school. You make good points and I’m not trying to denigrate you. We did see in covid year that the quality of football was just fine WITHOUT preseason games. If a PROFESSIONAL can’t put 100% effort in practice to show you his talent; do you really want that guy? Coaches can’t be blind EVERY day for MONTHS to ignore talent when they see it, right? I’m sticking with the preseason games are a joke. The Eagles played nobody in the preseason last season and won 10 of 11 regular season games to start the year…before their freefall. Did they CUT somebody they shouldn’t have to win that 11th game? To win other games? If so, who? The coaches SUCKED at the end of the year and 2 of 3 are gone. Last year was a shame as I doubt the Eagles continue to have fortuitous health AGAIN. Their starting offensive was healthy at the end….and they sucked! No preseason helps that. Just my opinion, so not worth much. Haha. Good to have NFL football coming back soon!

They SHOULD be in that game, but games aren’t played on paper.

They aren't a deep squad... an injury or two to the wrong guy and it could easily blow up. Especially with 2 of their best offebsive players holding out at the moment.
August 15, 20242 yr Kellen Moore has a good football mind. He is LOVED here in Boise….I have a LOT more people here locally that all of the sudden have an interest in the Eagles. It’s actually funny to me. I told them they better burn all their cowboys sh!t if they are going to be an Eagles’ fan. If Moore can get Hurts to lower the ego and play within his weaker arm, Hurts will be better in 2024. That is a big if, I’m sure. Moore did not have a big arm but was accurate and played to his own strengths. Hurts has MUCH more athleticism than Moore had, but he has to learn to play QB as a passer better. Simple but true.

Best case scenario for everything. Same with Reddick having to play the last year with the Jets. The league pays players what they are worth. Aiyuk isn't a top 5 WR. Reddick isn't a $25 million player. If either was the case ...then both would be paid. I don't want SF to get anything...picks, another good WR, cap space....for trading away Aiyuk. They made their salary cap bed... with their great front office... let them be forced to see it through. I mean.... if they have the best GM, genius coach and all this talent. See it through until time runs out. Let's see how much longer their luck lasts.
August 15, 20242 yr You guys checked out this guillotine league fantasy football? Lowest scoring team gets eliminated each week and all their players hit the waiver wire.

I will respectfully disagree that pre is useless. In practice you have your offense(under a coach) playing against your own defense(under a coach) and every coach does not know every set there is. So in pre besides being able to see players play vs varying sets, the rooks get to see different schemes used that they don't see in practices. And while the plays are mostly vanilla, they get to play against other rooks that have DIFFERENT moves than what they get in practice.I mean why are there different holes on golf courses? Either you can hit and putt or you can't.So every golf course should just have the same 18 holes everywhere. It's the variations they get to see, just as you need to play differently on different golf courses. It challenges the player to be able to COPE with something they have not seen in camp. I don't feel that is useless. It helps the coaches sort out the players-who saw something different and adjusted his style to beat his opponent?. During covid there was no pre,but there was none for anyone so it was even. Maybe a rook RB can beat our guy in camp. maybe when they play a pre game he can't. Now the coaches can teach him why he wasn't successful. It's just a part of the learning process in my view. It's also a chance for our scouts(and theirs) to see a player that they may want to add if that team cuts them.Like I'm sure we will cut some RB's but all performed well enough that another team may want them on their PS if we cut them. Maybe we saw a LB that other team will cut that we think we can stash ourselves. Then you have your positional coaches who are watching their specific rooks perform on an individual basis.

I disagree....because I don't think you see real schemes. You see vanilla stuff because nobody wants to give away anything. Plus you don't see the real opposition either. In theory you should be correct...in reality you don't get to see anything vs real schemes or the real players.
August 15, 20242 yr Author Just a thought. Jags have the money for Aiyuk. He would complete the WR corps for Lawrence. Of course I am biased but what a formidable offense they would have with what they already have at WR and Etienne in the backfield

Welp, yeah it's vanilla, but maybe instead of plain vanilla you get to play against French vanilla and the individual players get to play against guys with different styles than they get in practice vs the same guy over and over

The score really doesn't matter, although the 4's want to win the game. It's playing vs something different than camp. 2 pres vs 2 practices. I think they enjoy playing against another team just for the sport and learning experience. but to each his own
August 15, 20242 yr Author BTW,they must find something useful to it or it would have been scrapped by now

August 15, 20242 yr Author IDK in 1 fantasy league I have Tua and Lawrence. I got them both late too. Adding Aiyuk in Jax would make me feel MUCH better HAHAHA
