Meaningless snaps...does it really matter?

Did these snaps really prepare either QB if Hurts gets injured?

Or do we just need something to complain about on georgeous Sunday?

Any live reps in the new system after having different coaching this season is film on him to study.

We couldn’t protect well enough. I agree with your thoughts in principle …but him taking punishment learning not feel comfortable in the pocket isn’t going to help him here.

Pickett started in Pittsburgh,he understands the game. It's not like he is a stone cold rookie with no experience Having him hand off is wasted time. let the guy run the pass plays he would have to if Hurts went down. Anyone can hand the ball off. The BU WR's could use a few targets also

I’m with you if we could block enough so his experience would have been anything other than learning to not trust the pocket.

But kind of the way it appears the approach is going to be this season. We aren’t going to do what it takes to get so much better to really try and compete at a level to be a significant contender. We are just focusing on winning early games over bad opponents without blowing it. The early crappy teams is exactly when we need to be learning and growing the new system and figuriing things out.

Agreed. We actually should stick Shipley in once in awhile(not with the BU's during the game). Then when we play our BU's do mostly pass plays so the BU WR's can get their feet wet. Once the gnats conceded the game we could have done that, but wasted the time handing it off. JMO

With every win,we buy more time to get things fixed. I thought today was SO much better than last week. Now we need to build on it and not go backwards

Gotta break some eggs to experiment and learn and grow. You exactly got on why we aren’t going to achieve anything real this season. Instead of taking any growing pains learning what’s needed to beat the contenders….we are too afraid and focused instead on not losing to the crap teams. Exactly the opposite approach of what’s needed.

A few guys started showing up today like Dean. I wanted to see those young guys step it up a notch and they didn't disappoint me. Now we need to keep working. We have a tough one coming up

Siri isn’t interested in what’s best for this team in the long run. He’s just making sure we pull out the easiest wins for his record when he job hunts this offseason.

Pass rush looked better today also and the gnats O line is much better than Clevelands was. Now Siri needs to show them why today was better so they can compare it other games. I'm sure he will. Barkley was just on fire all game long and there was some nice blocking going on for him

What’s better for the team is making mistakes and growing even if it isn’t as safe an impressive early on. Risk the early loss…to get where we need. No way at this rate we are beating the top teams. Going to get slaughtered. This feels too much like last season. We were 10-1 winning and I was feeling how hollow it felt.

Goedert was out and we still had decent blocking for Bark and Hurts didn't have him as an outlet. TE2 as an offensive weapon would still be nice to have if we can find one

"good" teams are changing, SF nor KC scare me, Lions and Vikes do. Even the wuss are playing good ball

Observations after the re-watch:

* Dotson - ugggg. 1st round pick? How? Why? Redskins knew he was "just a guy”.

* Baun - really sound football player

* Back end of the defense playing much better. Love the rookie Mitchell! Happy to see Brown back…in limited special team snaps.

* Barkley is phenomenal.

* Poor Smith. Hurts missed him 3 times right in front of his face….easy throws….run after catch worthy. Not good!

* Giants oline is bad. Eagles’ D line played well, but it was more about how bad the oline is for the midgets.

* Weird to mention but the punter is pretty good. Some bad blocking on the punt team.

* AJ Brown is really good. It looks like Hurts predetermines his decision sometimes and waits too long to get off his first read. Takes sacks where he has open targets. NOT always. I will say the best QBs understand when the defense flat out wins a play and just dont do something stupid. A sack in those cases is ok. Two sacks were actually good decisions by Hurts. Nothing there. Defense won. But Hurts does not appear to read the safeties well enough to get off his first read quickly. He just stays there.  The one sack where he just fell down….uggg. Step up in the pocket!

* whoever here hates Gainwell, you should re-think it. He is the backup to a stud, but he picks up blitzers well most of the time and runs hard when given opportunities.
* Sumerlin made some KEY blocks at Fullback today. Impressive!

Yeah everything just is swarming with what many here complained so heavy about: the turnovers. Can’t feel like anything these last two games but our coaches know just pounding home don’t risk a turnover. Like last offseason they focused on don’t try and run to make plays and get injured. I’m actually getting concerned myself now. Just can’t rise to your greatness by being so scared. It’s like all we are coaching is don’t lose.

Like Cook said…they had the LB Van Sumerin playing FB and he had nice blocks from what I heard. Watching the game later tonight

We SHOULD be well past making mistakes. Most are experienced players on offense. DeJean will grow. Q was really good today and when we get some guys back we will be better yet. Losing Mailata hurt, but Hurts didn't roll right knowing that was a weak spot. he should know that and so should Siri

Barkley was running amok, there was no need to risk the INT when your RB is killin it

Niners and Chiefs have proven they’ll be there at the end. Vikes will fade. But really goes to show what a good coach can do. Vikes aren’t the most talented. But I like that hire.

Maybe VS would be better in that role? We need to stick what whatever works at this point

Vikes lost to the Lions on a last minute FG,they aren't going anywhere LOL. They both racked up the scoreboard

Jalyx got a sack forcing a fumble. Got to love that garbage time benefit of playing time and confidence.

Fun stat- Barkley is #2 all time in yardage for a RB playing against his former team for the first time

Yep that’s what everybody seems to be focused on. Just don’t lose. Not going to get us much better this season learning the new scheme we need to actually be competitive versus the good teams with everything on the line.

So kept pace with Washington who won today as well and took a half game lead over Dallas…. Win the next two against Cincy and Jags before two key matchups against Dallas then Washington on Thursday
