September 4, 20205 yr I wonder if we are going to get a 4 o’clock dump of cuts today again. I feel like more leaked yesterday, today’s been quiet so far
September 4, 20205 yr Out of curiosity, who is the last player to get called up and become at least a decent player? For the sake of the argument, let’s exclude Greg Ward and Boston Scott.
September 4, 20205 yr Author FYI....I'll be opening the regular season Blog after the rosters are set this weekend.

Regarding the latter, Jamaal Jackson spent his first season with the Eagles on the PS. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamaal_Jackson

For the sake of the argument, let’s exclude Greg Ward and Boston Scott. From our practice squad (so it excludes Strap)? - Jamaal Jackson - A.J. Feeley The list of good PS players also includes the following, but not for us - Danny Amendola - Raheem Mostert - Kyle Arrington We also signed Jake Elliott off the Bengals' practice squad.
September 4, 20205 yr Alright, I do this every year after camp. As an homage to the popular baseball organizational top prospects lists, here is the Eagles "top prospects" list. Since the old board is gone, I unfortunately can't dig up prior years' lists. To qualify as a "prospect," a player needs to be 24 or under and can't be an entrenched starter from last year. (ie, Sanders is disqualified and Goedert has aged out). Basically, we are looking at players who have not "arrived" yet. 1. Reagor (1st round). Self explanatory. 2. Dillard (1st). Not much has gone right for Dillard since getting drafted. He had a really nice 2019 preseason, was OK in spot duty during the regular season, and ended on an awful note in a disastrous start at RT. The offseason was plagued with rumors of trade attempts and a lack of confidence. Maybe it was fabricated by the media. Maybe where there's smoke there's fire. But those doubts climb on the shoulders of a critical 2nd season lost to injury. Will the Eagles even be willing to leave such a crucial position up in the air as a question mark for 2021, which would be necessary to give him any shot to start for this team in year 3? He's 24, he's a great athlete, he's a first round pick, and the Eagles have very little successful young talent. So he doesn't have anyone to keep him further down the list. 3. Davion Taylor (3rd). Either he or Sweat is the most physically gifted player on the entire defense. He's raw though...and LB isn't a downhill pure athlete position. Schwartz will need to coach him up quickly and get creative to take advantage of that tremendous speed and explosion, rather than just using him as a typical read & react 4-3 LB. But they drafted him for a reason. 4. Josh Sweat (4th). Again, tremendous physical talent. He has been agonizingly slow off the snap, which has gradually improved with experience. Sweat has quietly been on the winning end of every matchup that has caused OL destruction and panic. So I guess we can say he had a damn good camp. Barnett isn't going to be available for large stretches and Curry is way over the hill. They really need Sweat to step up. 5. Avonte Maddox (4th). He flashed so much potential in his rookie year, performing admirably at 3 positions while thrown into the fire. Year 2 was a huge step back; he was a complete liability. The speed, quickness, and fluidity are there. 6. TJ Edwards (udfa). TJ Edwards may end up being the 2nd biggest contributor to come out of the 2019 class, even if he wasn't drafted. He's a physical, instinctive LB who Schwartz clearly trusts very early in his career. He's going to play. 7. Jalen Hurts (2nd). I had no idea where to put him on this list. He has no clear path to ever starting here, so it's hard to rate him above guys that are getting penciled into the starting lineup for 2020. But he's a 2nd round pick and a QB who the brain trust took a lot of heat to invest in. I don't think you can put him any lower than this...and I'm sure many will argue he belongs higher. 8. K'von Wallace (4th). The only reason he's lower than other defenders like Sweat/Maddox/Edwards is because he hasn't had NFL experience and isn't as far along in the process. Those guys will get starting opportunities this year, while Wallace will need another year of seasoning for that. He's everything you look for in a safety prospect and has more upside than guys like Maddox/Edwards at this point. 9. Hightower (5th). Nice physical tools, sounds like he started off with a nice first impression in camp. With our WR situation and Reagor on the shelf, he'll get his chance early. 10. Watkins (6th). His name will always be associated with Hightower. Even faster, probably less well-rounded. He stole some headlines in camp too. 11. Jack Driscoll (4th). Drafted before #'s 8-9 on this list, but they are ultra fast WR's who turned some heads in camp. So the speed freak in me needed to promote them. He's going to figure into the OL picture sooner or later. 12. JJAW (2nd). Well, he's under 25 and he doesn't start. That's all I have to say. He'll be forced into opportunities this year. 13. Shaun Bradley (6th). A highly athletic LB used to poor competition. He'll get his seasoning this year, may not even be active, and we'll revisit his status next year. While there is upside here, not much to discuss right now. 14. Prince Tega (6th). See above. 15. Shareef Miller (4th). See #12, but without the opportunity.

I obviously didn't watch camp and have been astonished at the fabricated lies from the media back in the days when we both could watch. A couple snags in camp in traffic with no comments on getting open or moving particularly well aren't going to change anything after last year's disaster. He needs to show it on the field. "Nice camps" are for rookies.

September 4, 20205 yr Wide receivers who miss their rookie seasons due to injury have almost a 100 percent washout rate.
