That said they just got a contract done with one of the guys that had a potential pending offer sheet. And it’s at 7+ million. So now they’re at 28 million cap space. If they guarantee Carlsson 18 million. They would only have 10 million left. And cutter is gonna need a contract extension. he is definitely gonna ask for something close to Carlsson based off of the fact he thinks he’s as good if not better. They really screwed themselves not getting this done over the last year.

We don't really have defensemen to give that wouldn't create a massive hole in an already weak blue line. So if they did send Risto they now have to fill that hole, and Werenski is probably out if they have the Carlson contract

I don’t disagree with you. However, if that’s the route they go. I could see them saying we’ll take a lesser defense this year to get our 1C of the future. Especially if it’s Risto he’s gone at the end of this upcoming season. next year in free agency or maybe at the deadline try to get themselves an upgrade on defense.

This clause is directly for the Flyers, it does not impact the Ducks. Only the contract dollars and years (term). Regardless of that one year, the short contract allows him to renew a contract at age 26 while he is just hitting his prime. Assuming his numbers go up, that is gonna be a MASSIVE contract.

Cutter is going to ask for more simply cause carlsson is making $18 mil and he had a 40 goal season and it feels like that’s the type of agent he has

I think a fair deal that helps both sides is have them match, then trade back for one of the first round picks and give them Busty (who is also 21) and Risto since they need defense.

Not yet but he’s due for a new contract soon. The thought is before this OS he probably would’ve gotten 11-12 mil. But since carlsson signed this for $18 everyone is expecting him to ask for $15mil or more as he has similar production to Carlsson the past two years
