May 9May 9 It will suck to get swept but in the end of the day this was an excellent step forward. Now it needs to be followed by a solid offseason and then another step forward next year.

When he finally has some space he hesitates and looks to pass first. This guy has too good of a shot to pass the puck. It’s perfectly fine for him to be selfish and shoot the puck to gain some confidence. He’s being badly misused imo

Give him time to heal and then put him with Zegras and Tippett. 35+ goals from him next year.
May 10May 10 Realize we are likely not advancing. You guys are harsh. A three percent chance of making the playoffs and here we are with 2nd overtime with a great team. So grateful hockey is back in Philly!!!!!!
May 10May 10 40-17. Congratulations Carolina incredible team. Great season Flyers let’s keep it going next year

They are the most complete team in the playoffs

Need guys to develop and use this experience. I agree need a top Dman and i also think a top C. If briere and jones can do it then it really pushes us to another level.
May 10May 10 Getting swept hurts, but we can look back on the season and consider it a success, considering where we were in the conference in February, and then making it to the second round.I actually think this series against Carolina was more important for playoff experience than the series against an aging Pittsburgh team was.
May 10May 10 Proud of this team, they exceeded all my expectations and the future looks bright for Philadelphia hockey again…..finally!
May 11May 11 This offseason and the big-name vets that are available is about 1-2 years early for the Flyers, IMO.They are to be commended for the young talent they have assembled and for how that talent has been coached up and performed in getting into the playoffs and winning a series. But the sweep at the hands of the Hurricanes is a reminder of how far they still have to go; one big name addition doesn't make them a Stanley Cup team next year. This is all for naught if the Martone/Mitchkov/Luchanko/Bonk 21 and under club doesn't pan out. And even if they do pan out...it's probably another 2 years before they are advanced enough for the team to truly compete. I feel like they need to let that nucleus develop organically and then bolster them with names a little further down the road.
May 11May 11 Kind of look at the Flyers off-season this way, I think they were always planning to make some sort of splash move either in 2026 off-season or 2027. Based off what they were trying to accomplish, clearing cap space and developing some of the prospects, it feels like one of these two off-season‘s where it was coming. I think Briere and Jones have been sitting back because they knew they were not close enough yet to being a playoff contender.I am fine moving forward with just developing and not adding any major pieces. Just keeping with this core and building even more. I am also OK if they think we don’t know if a special type of player is going to be available two years from now in FA or trade. Hypothetically Connor McDavid becomes available this offseason and Edmonton calls you up because they like your prospects and picks. I am fine in making a move like that. That is a generational talent at 29 years old that could possibly give you 7 to 8 more prime years. To be able to get that type of player if he becomes available I think you have to consider it and do it if the price is right. As much as I would like to sit here and say two years down the road, that’s when we do it, there’s a lot of variables that can mess with that. You could have prospects that develop and some that don’t, then by the time you wanna make that trade you don’t have enough to offer comparatively to other teams offers. Or free agency just doesn’t have that guy hit free agency. So could still be searching for another year. Conversely there’s also the potential that that guy does exist in a trade two years down the road and have a good package. Just wouldn’t know it until then. It’s why I think you have to be realistic if a guy of the ilk of Connor McDavid is available and you have a shot then go for it.That said i am strictly using mcdavid as a hypothetical. I don’t think he is available yet and by all accounts SJ has connections to him and prospect pool where they can offer a ridiculous package

Some of the prospects who haven't made it up to the nhl are doing well too. This team has a lot of youth and building blocks. Let them build chemistry and watch them propel next year. You build around Foerster, Tippett, Zegras, Barkey, Bump, Martone and Drysdale. I'm putting Martone and Foerster in the untouchable section (unless you get a superstar of course) and I prefer not to trade Tippett, unless need be. Zegras is probably about to get an extension from us. Luchanko and Bonk showed promise in their playoff game. Luchanko might be as fast at Tippett, the difference is, he gets to top speed very quickly, in like 2-3 strides. We will be one of the youngest and fastest teams next year. The goalie is set. Need that QB on the PP though or else we are f'ed.
May 12May 12 Busty could have at least said, "working on my skating is a priority"...in two years if he is still on this team, we will be asking ourselves why didn't trade him while his stock was still relatively high.
May 14May 14 The core is better than I think a lot of people expected, but there's a need for a 1C and a 1D.We have enough wingers that we could use as trade bait, and realistically I still think Risto should be on the table as well. The UFA market kind of dried up with people getting resigned by their teams, so it's either trades or let Homer in the room to work his RFA offer sheet shenanigans.
