Yeah, I get it but it is still a tough move. Europe isn't ready to defend itself yet. It will take a couple of years just to get the minimum in play.

It makes no difference whether they help or not. Trump will immediately forget they helped and do whatever he wants no matter what they do in this moment. Yes I understand the thinking. I don't think it will be a flat out "no". More of a "not right now" or "yes, but we need to do this first" or something like that.

There are different ways to produce a "no effect" including saying yes but then not doing much. We shall see.

When we needed the allies during Desert Storm, after 9/11 or during the invasion into Iraq, they were at our side. He fails to mention that and probably doesn’t even know how it all went down.

Yeah, we’re the leader of NATO and have provided an immense protection with our military throughout Europe. But he also fails to mention how that has also benefited the US in lots of ways for centuries. The coalition hasn’t been perfect, but as a whole, stronger than anything else on the planet. Now this idiot is here and his sole objective is to destroy the alliance from within.
