The only country that is winning this war is Israel. Iran, the US and the rest of the world is losing while israel completes their objective of degrading iran and hezbollah at the expense of everybody else's blood and treasure. This is the only victory trump is going to declare when he finally retreats with his tail between his legs; Israel's objectives. An actually enforceable agreement between Us /Iran is pretty much impossible at this point. Eventually they'll announce one, but it won't be worth a lick because you are dealing with two pathological liars in Trump and Iran. It won't be cosigned by russia or China or Europe which will make it about as binding as a set of playskool handcuffs.

Tactically against the US they are. Enforcing the closure of the straight is an actionable deterrent better than nuclear weapons and puts the US on a time table to make a deal. Politically the regime ramrodded the succession they wanted during war time which is way easier than it would have been in peace time. But as a country they are hurting and didn't want this and tried to avoid this.
