But honestly, taking the L would be the best result for us in the long run. Walk away, pay the toll, get the troops out of harms way and then in a few years maybe a competent administration can negotiate something long term.

As much as MAGA pretends that Trump playing the "madman" game is effective, it isn't. He lets adversaries cross red lines constantly. Plenty of people knew the 2nd term would be batsh-t crazy. In the first term, he actually had qualified competent people in his cabinet for most of his term. But after seeing how his first term ultimately ended up going, no qualified competent person would want to be anywhere near this administration for round 2.
