Do you think we bring out the MOAB that they demonstrated in Afghanistan years ago? Arent those supposed to be so yuge that they can be effective where bunker busters can not?

An air burst weapon isnt going to be more effective against a bunker than a munition designed to penetrate bunkers lmao

i'm still laughing at kegbreath's claim that our munitions were left depleted by biden right after he spent months launching 1/2 of the arsenal on iran. 🤣

sweet knowledge of bombs. you're a very cool dude.

Ill always read whatever @Boogyman says, and believe the opposite. Basically would choose to listen to anyone who doesnt just live unemployed in their wife's basement and sponge off of her.

The U.S. military dropped a GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB)—colloquially known as the "Mother of All Bombs"—in Afghanistan on April 13, 2017. [1, 2]

The 21,600-pound, GPS-guided weapon was deployed from the rear of an MC-130 aircraft in the Achin district of Nangarhar province. The strike explicitly targeted an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) tunnel and cave complex. Afghan officials reported the blast killed approximately 90 ISIS-K militants and collapsed the underground bunker network. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Does anyone who actually knows about this stuff think these are a possibility in Iran with the way things are escalating? Or is there a reason they wont work in Iran the same way they did in Afghanistan?

No, a MOAB is not used for penetrating underground bunkers; it is an air-burst weapon designed to explode just above the ground to destroy surface targets, clear minefields, and collapse cave openings. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The acronym MOAB officially stands for Massive Ordnance Air Blast (commonly nicknamed the "Mother of All Bombs"). Because it lacks a hardened casing and a delayed fuze, it cannot drill into the earth or pierce heavily reinforced concrete. Instead, it creates a massive overpressure wave that can travel into cave networks or tunnel entry points, causing them to collapse from the force of the blast. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

How the MOAB Compares to Actual Bunker Busters

If the military needs to destroy a deeply buried or reinforced concrete bunker, they use a completely different class of weapon called a bunker buster. The table below highlights the functional differences between the GBU-43/B MOAB and the premier U.S. bunker buster, the GBU-57 MOP (Massive Ordnance Penetrator). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

"When a MOAB Can Affect Underground TargetsThe MOAB is only effective against underground networks under specific, limited conditions, such as the unreinforced cave complexes in Afghanistan. It destroys these targets by:Collapsing soft, unreinforced cave entrances and shallow tunnels via intense surface pressure.Sucking oxygen out of interconnected, unsealed tunnels to suffocate occupants"

Its not the proper weapon for hardened bunkers, Slappy. Now get back to queefing over my amazing life while you finish mopping that floor.

Another L, Slappy, just throw it on your ever growing pile hahahaha

I think you guys are missing the crux to HE's argument. He still thinks some magic bomb is going to achieve a clean victory condition for this lost war. That's bonkers.

Ok, but if the magic bomb doesn't exist, why don't they just build it?

Not just any bomb, but the WRONG bomb is sure to do it!

I have nothing against the town of Hazelton. My family even has 70 acres and a cabin just a few miles from there. They love going there when they want to surround themselves with a much simpler lifestyle and people.

I wonder how many NEPA poors a MOAB would take out?
