Was Long back in 2018?

Yeah, as I said it was a slow build.  I distinctly remember those games and they weren't good QB games overall but he was staying in the pocket which was the first step in the rebuild.  It was clear as day and yes he was more or less benched on the field as well which was part of the entire "tear it down and rebuild" approach.

Eh idk about ‘slow build’ but they did tear it down and rebuild over the bye.  It was more of a knee jerk…we are a run dominant team now and that’s our identity.   A lot of the criticism was completely warranted.  The ‘staying in the pocket’ was a double edged sword.  We saw how many sacks due to brain farts, not seeing running lanes, holding the ball too long, or just diving without contact?   At the end of the day a lot of egos were put aside and the O as a whole did what they needed to sprint to and through the SB.

Being a ‘winner’ is an intangible you can’t teach…and it culminated with a well deserved SB MVP.

I was thinking sweat or graham…trying to remember who is another hold over from the last SB team.

EDIT…Elliot would have been the GOAT if it was him.

This board is so absurd.  We just destroyed the league, won the SB going away (like myself and a few others said we would) and yet it's like a cat fight in here.

We won.  Howie won the lottery several times with his FA signings ( and yes, before any buffoons chime in, Huff was a wiff), Fangio was amazing, we scored at an electrifying clip in the playoffs,  had an amazing draft, record breaking RB, everything we could ever want in a season yet it remains the tired, boring, back and forth about our QB.  Let it go.  He proved many of us wrong.  Spectacularly.  Take the loss and move on.

SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!!!!

Whos at the parade today?  Schmoopie is. Ellie is.

I’m not sure what the precedent is around the league (i don’t really watch much of other teams parades), but I have never seen:

1: an owner in his first 30 seconds of holding a championship trophy credit the unseen hundreds on the staff.

2; a parade include that staff mentioned.

Absolutely awesome that they’re allowing the whole staff down to probably the custodians party it out on the 20 something buses they have.

I know last SB the entire building got rings too…including many retired key long time staff members.

That's the number one piece that will always stand out about this team.  But, I'll throw this out there... that type of offensive mentality really only works well when the defense shuts down the opponent.  Gotta keep this defense working moving forward!  I love that Vic is coming back.   I know they can't afford Williams, but there's no way that they can let Baun walk too.   And they need to reload the DL again in the draft.   Need another EDGE, need another DT.  And they should likely put Hurtt on the fast track to heir apparent behind Vic.  He's too valuable to lose to a DC job elsewhere in a year.  We need someone ready to take over for when Vic is ready to hang it up... and we need someone that can learn all that Vic really has to teach, rather than what we saw from Gannon and Desai.  They weren't as good as Vic, although I'd say that the talent on D was greater this year too.

Franchise accomplishment.  Good work by Lurie to share it with everyone.  More than likely, the vast majority of those staffers, if not every single one, grew up a Birds fan.  Gotta share it with them.   I don't know if other organizations do it, but they absolutely should, and for the same reason.   They are likely lifers as well.

The "slow build" was for Hurts pocket progression.  The knee jerk of the overall O was clear, yes.  The criticism was 100% warranted and I was in here giving that as well.  Noting the improvement post bye that built slowly is also 100% warranted.

The "stay in the pocket" was "don't move back and to the right" every other play.  Once that improved he started to get much better at being able to throw the ball away as well.  Again, he still had the occasional bad sack, yes, but it was much improved.

For all that Siri gets flamed for…and he 100% deserves a lot of criticism for absolutely mind numbing decisions every game.  He brought that group of 52+ men (probably about 80 when you count cuts/PS/IR/etc) together for a common purpose and got complete and total buy in.

Maybe i should view Siri like i viewed how i led at times…there’s a time and place for do as i say and not as I do, but here’s the end result and the goal and here’s the tools you need.  Go out and do your thing, make mistakes and learn.  I got your back the whole time, because i sure as ish am gonna make them too.

One of my fav things to tell the kids was, ‘heroes never wanted or tried to be heroes…they simply did their job’.
