The fact there hasn’t been any trades yet tells me TEN plans to pick at #1, either Ward or Carter (likely Ward).  CLE should jump on Carter at #2 to pair with Myles Garrett.  Giants are probably dumb and desperate enough to take Shedeur at #3

Maybe the gints are smart enough to take the BPA this year, possibly Hunter, and just go with Jameis for the year.  Why take another bad QB when next year there is a better class?  Any QB in this draft strike you as eventually better than Winston.

It's not a great draft, honestly.  Doesn't appear to have top end talent at any position.   Some good talent, but not top end.

I have nothing to back this up except for unfounded prejudice: I don't want anybody from Tennessee as it's a loser college.

An idea of where I think the blue/red chip players are in the 1st. I value the high floor on some players, while others are such freaks that I assume (!) that they’ll figure it out at the next level with some positional value thrown in.

QB: Ward

WR: McMillan, Egbuka

RB: Jeanty*

TE: Warren, Loveland

OT: Banks, Simmons+, Membou

G: Jackson, Campbell

Edge: Carter*, Walker, Stewart, Williams, Scourton

DT: Graham, Harmon

CB: Hunter*, Johnson

So…

How much do you think we’d get in return if we traded Hurts?

McKee would have taken us to the promise land last season.

I don’t think we are allowed to have this convo until September.

I low key think Emeka Egbuka is a possible target should he be there at 32.  Dotson on last year of his deal (can't see us picking up 5th year option) and wouldn't surprise me if they traded him in another round to move up.  Egbuka is a good blocker and has inside out versatility and will help with the production we lose if/when Goedert gets traded.

After watching the Bootleg Football offensive gems video, I learned how much Tre Harris, Jayden Higgins, and Jaylin Noel are being slept on.

Of those 2, Higgins and Harris look like your typical X WR1 type of WR, which is always a scarce position in every draft.  A lot of times you get a potential WR1 who is actually a slot like a Olave, or a St. Brown. Which is fine, but every team needs an X and not may WRs profile as that in any given draft class.

As for Noel, Ive wondered if he wouldnt be a great succession plan to Dotson considering we likely wont want to pay to extend Dotson. Noel is crazy fast. And he makes really tough catches. The bad QB at Iowa State really allowed him to showcase his ability to bring in poorly thrown passes making high degree of difficulty catces. Hes an example of a guy who can be brought in as our slot, but can really give you outside reps and has WR1 potential.

I think all 3 are going to provide value above draft position even as 1st rounders considering they are all projected very late 1st if they even get taken in the 1st at all.

We dont need a WR. But I couldnt argue with the value of any of these guys. Would be very excited to have any of them.

To me, Tre Harris looks like AJ Brown. Jayden Higgins looks like Tee Higgins. And Noel looks like a prime Mike Wallace.

Man, I love Egbuka as a prospect. He's as pro ready as they come and reminds me of Justin Jefferson. Jefferson was just steady as can be at LSU, but didn't flash nearly as much as others in the draft.

I wouldn't be mad that that pick at all, but there are a lot of DL I want before him. A lot depends on who's on the board.

There's also no guarantee that AJ Brown sees the WR contract's starting to burst through the roof and says, I need a lot more to be happy. This is an assumption on my end, and he hasn't shown any signs of thinking that. Just good to be prepared for something like that happening.

Thinking business, not with your heart- What do you think happens with this AJ Brown contract? Plays it out? Re-structure? Eagles use their out after 2025 season at age 29?

In no order, Reid, Sirianni, both Harbaughs, Mcvay, Shanahan, Lefleur, McDermott, Taylor, Stefanski.

I would move Ben Johnson in there somewhere even though he hasn’t any track record yet.  I also would move Shanahan back to after McDermott

Why would he need to reorder if they were "In no order..."?

It's useful information. My point really is more about this:

RAS Weighting

There is no variation in the percentages by position.

Indeed.  The requirements of each position should factor into the weighting.  It never occurred to me that they didn’t do that.

It would be interesting to see what the max value for each category is.  I would imagine that does vary by position.

combine speed "only" showed 4.36 but Arian Smith's speed seems to be a big problem for defenses. He gets huge cushions and still gets deep easy.

I guess hands are an issue.

The thing that concerns me about Nolen's effort being called in to question is that he transferred from A&M. Which plays in to that idea that he is just a sack hunter and not a team player, and lacks effort on other downs. Considering TA&M doesnt seem to let their guys pin their ears back, it looks like Nolen went somewhere where he can try to pile up sack numbers and really cares about nothing else since hes not playing the run there.

What concerns me even more is a guy like Shemar Steward playing at A&M and not having pass rush production but STILL not being good at stopping the run either. How can he not be good at anything? The scheme doesnt explain away his deficiency against the run.

At least Nolen is good at something, when he tries.

I think theres a great chance teams taking those guys in the top 15 are going to be very sorry.

As for Pearce, Ricky Sapp is a worst case comp, and Randy Gregory is a better case scenario, which is still not good. Gregory 6'5'' 235lb. Biggest sack total was 6, which he hit twice. I dont like his build for his position in the NFL.

That’s  a good capsulation of all three of those players … three of the possibilities for the Eagles’ first pick.

On Nolen, at least he has shown the production once he got out of the A&M sink hole.  I will trust Hurtt and Fangio to assess the run d production or lack thereof.

The assessment done on the Safeties by @Alphagrand is worth repeating here, since there too we have three possible candidates for the Eagles’ first pick.

Watching Starks, Emmanwori, and Watts back-to-back left me with the decided preference for Watts out of those three.

— Starks would have the highest floor but lowest ceiling.  Good in run support and seems more comfortable near the LOS.

— Emmanwori is the rawest of the three.  Great physical tools, but it would be frustrating as hell watching his mistakes until he figures it out

— Watts had the best closing speed and ball skills of the three.  Looks like a guy who always seems to be in the right place to make a big play.  Those instincts are valuable in a safety, IMO.

I don't know if hands really get better...

Arian Smith, a wide receiver for the Georgia Bulldogs, has a significant drop rate, with a 27.3% drop rate in 2022, and he led the nation with 10 drops in 2024

QB numbers yet to be worn by a modern superstar:

3, 5, 6, 11, 14, 15

15 was Bart Starr, I’m on the fence on that one

Which of those would you be excited to see on the Board when the Eagles are picking?

BTW, You don’t have Jhaad Campbell on that list.  Wa that an oversight, or intentional.

Question for the experts that would know this stuff about the draft. You always hear before the draft whether it's deep in a certain position, whether it's a strong or weak draft overall, that the top of the draft isn't that great and the real value is in rounds 2 or 3, that there's a drop off in talent after the top 10 or so and the rest of the 1st round is essentially all the same, stuff like that.

Has anyone done analysis (I'm not gonna Google it, too busy/lazy) after the fact even years later to look back to see if the pre-draft assessments were true? I've seen this for individual players but not the themes of the entire draft overall. Like a certain year is supposed to be deep at a position and then 3 years later they look at their production in the NFL and find out how many of the players at that position are proving that it was a deep talented draft or not?

I believe this is entirely play dependent. If he continues to put up ~1400 yard seasons, there is no precedent of a team abandoning a 32-and-under superstar WR with no off the field issues when the player desired to stay with said team

Maybe Anquan in Arizona, but Anquan was no where near AJ, and they already had Larry who was way better. AJ is Larry in that situation

Despite the disclaimer they seemed to be in an unconscious order … one that for the most part worked for me
