EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

The offense scores 6 lousy points in the second half and people are blaming the defense which has carried this team the entire season.

Unbelievable

AJ Brown refusing to comment after the game according to Comcast Post Game Live.

The guy just won a Super Bowl then back to backed the division do you really think that’s even once been discussed? I have a better chance of winning powerball this week than Siri does of being fired right now.

He didn’t win. His talent and assistant coaches won. If he was so great we would have a respectable offense. Instead he needs an expert for both assistants to win games. He’s a clown

Nah, we lost the game due to our inept offense, insufficient coaching, off day defensively and lack of emotion.

I think this team could have overcome the obvious and clear ref bias had they played to their potential- that DOES NOT negate the fact that they would have won had the game not been "rigged”.

Wonder what we could get for Hurts, Barkley, and Brown in a trade

Need to root for Chargers and PIT for draft pick purposes

It comes down to whether you think he is Bill Cowher or Barry Switzer.

I think he is Switzer.

Siri kept nothing together this year. They should have won 14+ games on talent and he had his imbecile buddy calling plays all year.

Its like saying Matt Casel is a franchise QB because he won 11 games or Kotite is very good after 10-6 and 11-5.

It does not hold up to the evidence.

He is 3-4 without Hurts. I want better.

He’s never had a losing season, regardless of circumstances. Hes way beyond Switzer

What another coach can do with Kenny Pickett or Gardner Minshew is not relevant to the grand goal of the team

They can’t trade him anyways. His cap hit is too big

After June first, it's not as big, but they don't save nearly enough to make it worth it. And they wouldn't get max value coming off the season he had. It's not happening.

Yup, defense is fine

Coaches should not cost a team a season. Especially, in a wide open year.

This would've been the easiest repeat in history, but nope. Team made no attempt at a real coaching search (did they even do a Rooney rule interview?) and then even as offensive minds were available this season to consult they decided they were good enough.

You realize a new coach might want someone else besides Fangio right? And at some point someone's going to want someone else besides Stoutland too. When you put rules on the table that those things can't change, you limit your candidate pool.

Nobody is firing fangio. Relax. A new coach would retain him in a heartbeat.

So we pick around 22ish?

Guess this can be closed and offseason thread started

A losing season probably but at this point whatever

Can’t stoop low enough to root for the Steelers.

So now we're erasing them being a head coach of a Super Bowl winning team. We've come a long way since just hoping to win our first Super Bowl, and pretty much all of that way as far as fanbase discussion goes has been negative. Never won so much, never been a worse time for me in discussing Eagles football. RIP.

Sirianni is fine as the CEO HC, but he needs to let the board of Lurie, Roseman and Big Dom pick who his coordinators are.

Oh, I’m looking to bring in competition at QB too. But he seems to do well with Smith who isn’t a big possession receiver.

I understand that Patullo was terrible (and, again, I used past tense because that's what he already is). But he's gone. Hurts isn't. Hurts is here likely another 2 years.

And I do think we have a QB problem. 2024 was a single-season running game anomaly where almost nothing else mattered. We won't be able to lean on that again. Hurts simply is not the runner he used to be. Some of that is physical mileage, some of it a Mcnabb-like focus to get away from it. Doesn't matter why, just matters that it's the new normal, to steal a COVID quote. And Jalen Hurts is FAR too inadequate as a passer to not be a dangerous running threat. I don't think it is possible to circumnavigate that problem. And we are just going to fizzle on offense for the next 2 years until everyone has that fact shoved down their throats until it's impossible to ignore.

Maybe you missed when the defense gave up two TDs in the 4th quarter and got totally dominated throughout. The game doesn't end after 3 quarters.

This has been a reoccurring theme for the team all season because they let the other team hang around. They did this against the Broncos, Bears, 2nd cowboys game, 2nd commanders game, and now to the 49ers.

The defense has played a high level of snaps. The offense can’t sustain drives and control the ball, leaving the defense out there for longer periods of time and more snaps.

Were they great today? No but they did better than the offense for most of the season. If not for the defense this team doesn’t even make the playoffs.

Think of it as rooting for the Eagles draft pick.

Defense wasn’t great today but the people who are going to claim the D was remotely at fault are crazy. Though I’m happy we don’t have to suffer another game.

The defense was good enough to win... with a competent offense.

The only hope this team had was for the defense to play like the 1991 Eagles' D, which was also unable to carry a dead weight offense. That offense at least made sense to suck so bad.

And AJ proving he's a leader... refusing to speak to the media after that crap that he put on the field today. Give back your paycheck, AJ. The accountability comes with that many 0's on your check.

When was the offense supposed to show up? The defense gave them opportunities, and you're mad they didnt make every single stop

This is the bigger problem. The defense failed the last 2 possessions in the fourth quarter, but they aren’t the biggest takeaway from this game. San Francisco came into this game on defense banged up. The Eagles managed to do what they’ve consistently done for 18 games. They look real good for 3 sometimes 4 drives. Then you get the other 7-9 possessions where it is up there with the jets in terms of analytics. Their problems have been from week one till now. If you go back and watch that Dallas game on week one they did the exact same thing they did today. So over the course of an entire season sirianni, pattulo and the offense managed to find some type of consistency… which was being the same offense all year with the same flaws and issues that never got fixed

Siri has had the most talented roster in the league. I’ve asked this question a million times. What is he good at?
